Sounds like we got recommended the same product ! I just asked the difference between the products and then went for the cheapest cold remedy option on the shelf. I guess you could just say " I'll leave it for now" and buy cough sweets and bubble bath etc! Or even say it is too expensive. ( I had said after she asked who it was for, that I needed medication for my husband, as he wanted to try something else because his usual brand gives him a dry mouth.) ;)

When I'm doing those ones when I get the recommendation I just say oh thats good we have a bottle / pot / pack etc of that in the cupboard but hadn't tried it yet. That way it doesn't offend. I tend to complete the buying bit first and then ask for any advice.
  • Which MS companies have easy ways of picking up jobs online, like RE and Gap?? With TNS, but nothing ever near me, also RM, but never get round to ringing them to see what jobs are about, I like seeing the job, working out when best fior me to escape the family then choosing, not pressured by being 'live' with someone!!

I've just completed my first job for RE. The item I was advised to purchase was £4.85, however my expenses are only £3.00. I looked at the other products on the shelf and couldn't see any that were under £3. How can you ask the member of staff for a recommendation, go through all the rigmarole and then ask for something else that's under £3? I thought the purpose was to see what you were offered and go on the recommendation?

Think I've got a lot to learn!

I have no compunction about asking about one thing and then buying another. If this means I am more likely to be spotted as a MS, then tough - if the commissioning company is worried about this, they will just have to make the spending allowance enough to cover what you are supposed to buy, won/t they? :p

    Nice to be kept updated.

Sorry, if you don't like my posts.
  • Paul, just wanted to say "well done" on getting employment after 12 years! You must be like a dog with two tails. I am raising our children at home right now and find MS work a nice distraction while I can be me again and earn a little cash. Can't be bad! I am getting choosier though....
  • I parted company with the Mystery shopping company who has had issues with the website recently after updating it. Yesterday I had a proof reading query which was with the photo, then some how after that the rest of the questionnaire got lost in cyberspace. After having to repeat questionnaires due to info going missing, after submitting, I told them it was an insult to pay an extra £1.50 for the work involved.

Question...if you have completed the job, and after PROOF READING it goes missing, and you refuse to input it again as the £1.50 fee is an insult and not worth it, and it's not your fault do they have to pay you?

After all, I did fulfil my side of the contract. Anyway I said that the irony is that a company that measures customer service, is rather naff at dealing with its own.

By all accounts the problem with missing questionnaires in cyberspace is ongoing, as there are still unresolved issues with their computer system.*******YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED******

Anyway...my time is worth more to me than that....so Goodbye to that company.

RE is easy to use but I find GAP the worst! Also easy to search for jobs online is Grass Roots.

Assosia offers jobs by e-mail (but you are still competing with others); these are often last-minute jobs that have to be done the same day.

Optimum Contact also offers jobs by e-mail but you are not competing with others for those jobs; you just have to respond within a reasonable time.

Optimum Contact also has telephone survey work which is self-assign (this has kept me busy for several weeks now).

BARE International also has online job search but, like GAP, it is not based up-on postcode distances so is not so easy to use as the UK only sites.
  • I'm with Re and gap, just fancied another. Problem is I now work in retail, I know I cannot take a job for my company, but if I put that down as my job, are they gna ever offer me other retail? I am also a student and a mystery shopper, shall I just put that instead??

Feeling valued and satisfied in oneself is the best thing about working. If you have enough work to be choosy then even better - at the moment I am so busy I am not sure which tail I am supposed to be chasing!

Having just spent just under two hours putting in four reports for this company I am reminded why I do like GAP. As I think someone else pointed out the rate per hour is better for them than companies with very detailed report requirements. I'll hold my breath with my latest. I will be very peeved if it goes missing in any way. I did find though the site was less 'hangy' than last week.
