I just accepted a mystery shopper assignment where I have to sign up for a bank account. On the details it says I need a household income of at least £15,000, which it is, I live with my parents.

When I accepted and read the assignment it's telling me when I'm asked for "your income" I must say a value at least £15,000. I only earn about 12K.

    Am I supposed to lie?

Either do what has been suggested with a partner income, or lie. I've told countless lies in MS scenarios. It's scary how used to it you get. Yesterday I was looking for something smart for an imaginary friends wedding, then minutes later I was a student looking for something casual to wear :o

I sent an e-mail just before my last post, but as I got no reply i released. There were only 2 days to choose from originally, so I couldn't re-schedule.
Hopefully they'll get back to me and let me do it nxt week:j
    Many thanx for ur help!

    Hope you get it back.

Mine should have been done Fri, Sat or Sun last weekend, and I'd picked Sunday. I didn't release it as I ended up at the hospital on the Sunday and I forgot about the assignment, but they let me reschedule when I phoned on the Monday apologising and asking what I should do.

Just to let you all know, the TNS online system is not working. It will be up and running sometime on Monday, well that's what I have been told anyway. Lots of PUB and COFFEE visits on there this morning when I was on.

I think there's a difference between telling a fib when buying some clothes and giving false information when applying for a bank account. Surely, the latter amounts to fraud!

Not if the MS company has told you to do it. You are not attempting to obtain anything fraudulently as the bank HO and the MS company are aware that you are doing it. I've gone through account opening interviews, mortgage interviews, financial reviews etc., with false details and never had a problem.

Having said that, I've never done the jobs where you have to actually open a bank account as I refuse to be credit checked for MS purposes.

Obviously you can't MS a bank where they know your personal details already though as that will make them suspicious.

It is up to you and what you feel comfortable with. If you are talking about the loan assignment, then you will be credit checked. You could base your enquiry on your 12,000 job and say that you earn 3000 from a different part time job. Or you could just say that you earn 12000 and that your household income is more then that, providing you have a good credit score (no numerous credit cards, monthly contracts, store cards, debt, etc.) you should be fine. If you are in doubt however, speak to the MS company because if you are refused a loan your assignment may not be valid.
I had to pretend few weeks ago that I had 300000 cash to buy a second home and I was fine. At the end of the day you are doing a job and not pretending to gain something, so (kidding myself) I don't believe this is lies.
  • Just had an email off GAP saying they won't pay me for a job. mightly cheesed off as I had problems entering it. I'm also not happy that they take so long on paying you and don't give you a break down of what jobs they paid you for. I got loads of emails re the bonus offer and I didn't qualify for any of these. I had already started being picky and being careful about what I pick, am now not sure I want to work for them at all. I think they are a good company to start you off, but for me it isn't working out as the petrol and parking costs for getting to the assisgnments means it costs me. I think people who live in cities have more luck with gap.

    Did they give you reason?

  • Don't pay to park.......

I have found that in every city / town ...(found them in Oxford, and Reading as well) that there are free car parking spaces for upto 1 or normally 2 hours on the side roads.

If you go to the same town alot then one day when you have the time, drive up some side roads that are within walkong distance, and see what you can find. I always use these spaces, and most of the time you need to know they are there, so there is always space to park.

Depending on where you live it can save 70p upwards.....never pay to park again! (unless it suits me for time etc):rotfl:

Hint to finding the free spaces, look for schools, churchs, meeting halls, and smaller shops, along side roads about 5 minutes walk from the centre. ....around these areas are the free spaces.

    You will be surprised.!
