Daughter is now discharged from the hospital- she needs her ankle moisturising and massaging 3 times a day (which she is loving) She's going to have a follow up with the scar team in a few months but the weekly reviews are now finished!

This weekend we are going to a friend's wedding. (the couple who live around the corner) It's one of those lovely weddings where we will know 90% of the people there. Also because husband is a groomsman (he's already complaining about going, he always does, but you should of heard the level of grumping when a friend got married last year and didn't invite us! *eyeroll*) we've got a room at the hotel booked and paid for by the couple which is lovely, so daughter is super excited about getting to stay in a hotel. (She's never been in one before, the couple of times we've gone on holiday rather than camping, I tend to book Airbnbs.)
    Bottom line;

    Car HP paid off

So had a fabulous weekend. Saw and caught up with loads of friends, daughter had her mind completely blown by the fact that all the radiators in the hotel were painted gold! ("They're actual solid gold!":lol:) and the weather was lovely. Husband was very distracted by some very good friends being there so was actually in a decent mood all weekend.

Came home yesterday, mowed all the lawns and then sat eating a cornetto in the sun. Spent £80 for the weekend- £50 for the present, £15 for fuel and £15 on drinks.

So the staffroom has been redone and we've got new lockers- which has meant that I've got a locker in the staffroom (have never had one before because the previous ones were all allocated years before I arrived and as I have lockable storage in my classroom there was no point in making a fuss.)
I did comment that it'd be nice to keep my drugs in and got hit with a folder by the head of HR- love this school. but it's good to have a new place to keep stuff as whenever I got back to my classroom at breaks for something, I always end up with a kid following me in for a chat and then I get distracted and never make it back.

Had a call from the garage, they've almost fixed the back bumper and metalwork of my car and they're ready to start painting it towards the end of the week. So hopefully by Friday I may be back in my own car!

They are also going to fix my car window for me. £103 in total which I have in my car savings pot so that's all fine.

When taking my work boots off as I arrived home yesterday I ripped the sole completely off the boot! (cheap boots!) Anyhow they're not that old- I bought them in March so I've hot glued the sole back on as it'll last a good month or so yet. (hopefully until the summer holidays- and I've got a pair of dolly style shoes work shoes for warmer weather to swap them in and out with)

Still trying to live as frugally as possible. EF took a significant dent whilst my daughter was in hospital but I'm hoping to still be able to pay the vast majority of my car HP off by the end of July- I have another hobby event this weekend (quite a close by one)  do I can't do anything crafty before then but next week I'll be back on with the sewing projects to make some money to throw into my savings.

Are your rocket dog boots still going strong Kakiste?
  • Really nice to hear you’ve had some ace social events 😊 I’m really glad your daughter has been given the all clear as well.

It’s annoying about the ding to your emergency fund for the car repairs but just think how strong of a position you were in because you had the EF in place, and so didn’t need to stress about where to find the money or have to ask your husband for “help” with all that entails. You’ll build it back up in no time, and in the meantime, it did it’s job!

Absolutely! It was so nice to be able to just got "fine, take my money" not worrying about interest or how much it would set me back. It's still paying for stuff but without the 'after' that always used to come.

My rocket dogs are still going! I've been in heels or trainers the past few weekends but they're still used in the evenings during the week.

The work boots with the hot glued heels were only £12 but I'm happy to patch them back up if it gets me another month or two- especially as I haven't worn through the sole or the sides of the boot yet so they're still currently watertight.

Been a busy few days as I've had all my lower set year 11s history assessments to scan into the online portal for the exam board to moderate but I've just finished doing it 5 minutes ago so I can now switch their history lessons over to English content in preparation for their english exams. My higher set year 11s have spent 2 hours revising with me this afternoon as their first exam is next Thursday so we're all super nervous. I think I'm far more nervous than some of them! (I've not had any kids sit actual exams since 2019 cuz of covid so I'm out of the swing of how stressful the build up is.)

Going to get the garden tamed across this weekend. Green bin is being emptied today so I'll be able to hack back the borders and get it all looking groomed. It's not too much work and I've been keeping on top of mowing so there's just the usual tidying bits that I would have usually done across Easter to get in hand.

Work is lending me a petrol strimmer for the weekend so it'll be a lot easier than using my slightly pathetic corded one.
