Such a difficult and frustrating situation! I agree with CRANKY40, definitely bring this as a complaint when you are out of there and able to. It's terrible that this is able to happen.
Good luck with the phone call tomorrow, hope you get a decent offer from them2 -
I will do- I do agree that it is important to raise eventually. I'll put a pin in it for now.Bottom line;

Yes so I was on hold for ages after going through everything with them. Then got put through to a manager and had my offer of just shy of £4k accepted! They then said "so if you just pay us now then we'll send a confirmation through" to which I obviously told them that I needed an email attachment with their letterhead saying it was a full and final offer and they and no other company would seek the remaining balance in future etc etc. They then said "Oh don't worry about that, we'll definitely send you proof that it's all settled after you've paid- no-one will chase you for any money. I basically told them that they were getting nothing from me until I had the full and final bit in writing.
They then said "oh OK so we'll send you a letter" And I explained (again) that my post isn't secure, is opened by someone other than myself, abusive household etc. But I then reminded them that as the money is in my account, if they sent me an email today with the agreed figure I'd be able to pay them this afternoon. The women then said "Yes that sounds great, so if I can confirm your address is X" and read out my postal address!?! I highlighted that and asked why she needed my address confirming if she was sending it as an email and she said "Well we'll send a letter out as well" ?!Absolutely making a complaint once I have a new address in future months.
So it's 5 hours later and I haven't had an email.So I'm guessing; letter it is!
Absolute waste of space that company. I've calculated and it took 10 days between the phone conversation and offer and the letter coming through last time, so I'm working on a similar timeframe this time.
I'm going to be really vigilant with post at the weekend and next Wednesday (day of hospital appointment) which is all I can do, because I get home an hour later than everyone else the other days. However I think I might throw into general conversation that following my budget review with Stepchange and my DMP going up by £13 a month, all my creditors are getting an extra £3 or so each and have to send a new acknowledgement by letter (this is actually true) Hopefully that will put him off opening any important looking post because he'll assume it's to do with that. Worth a try.Bottom line;
