Thanks all. He's got form for locking me out before but only has managed it successfully twice. The first time I was 26 and our daughter was 8 weeks old. I left during an argument to go and pick up a pram I'd bought on fb marketplace and pre-arranged the meeting time. Absolutely enraged him that I was "choosing to leave the house before resolving the issue and picking some woman I'd never met's feelings over his" *slow blink* He then deadlocked the door whilst I was out.
I sat on the step with an 8 week old for nearly an hour before he eventually opened the door. I was too embarrassed to say anything about it or cause a fuss at the time and was just worn down by his behaviour.
If I could go back in time I would raise merry hell- call his family, call my midwife and probably call the police. Hindsight eh?
Since then I've always made sure i have a way back into the house figured out. No I'm not telling him how I got back in @CRANKY40 as I thought the same thing.
He's not speaking to me today other than to sarcastically point out household things that need doing and tell me "that he is filled with contempt for me" I asked him to explain why this was; as far as I can tell I'm the only one who has been wronged. He is "unwilling to explain to me" which basically just means he realises what an !!!!!! he is to say "you going out and wearing makeup angered me so I deliberately locked you out the house" So he won't voice it so he can continue to hold the high ground in his own head.
Idiot.Bottom line;

It's probably you actually having friends to go out with as well that's got up his nose. As far as I can see, nobody wants to go anywhere with him, not even his own family.1

If only you could tell him that 100% of your MSE friends are filled with contempt for him! So much of your posts remind me of my exh…and not in a good way.Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

The thing is he can be such good company. But over the past 7 years the crap bits have gone from about 5% (randomly igniting maybe once every 6 weeks and lasting about a day) to being a significant portion of the time and there being multiple instances every week.
In May I started marking my phone calendar with a random letter every time he did or said something especially horrible that made me want to definitely leave him just to be able to reflect that it isn't little things or 'just sometimes' In May there are marks on 11/31 in June 10/30 and so far this month 11 days already.
It's good for setting my resolve so once it's time to go then I'll not be wavering.Bottom line;

I used to do the same.. I still have a calendar from 11 yrs ago with all the rings on of when bad things happened….it helps to remind myself that losing a lot financially was still worth it (although I can’t stop how angry I am at losing half of my once good pension..sigh).Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Husband has gone out (taking my car without asking I might add- not a chance he'll top up the petrol either) and hasn't said where he's going.
I am sooooo tempted to lock him out. I'm absolutely not going to, as that is a ridiculous behaviour and I'm not going to stoop to his level........ But god it's tempting!
In other news Ive brought home a biography of Eliza Hamilton to read over the holidays. Going to start it tomorrow after I finish the fantasy trilogy I'm currently on the last book of.

Silence speaks volumes. He obviously wants you to be upset about it. Say nothing, do nothing.
Sometimes silence says more than a reaction. Switch the lights off and go to bed.
Don't ask where he has been either.3 -
