Bank sent me the yearly 6 free cinema vouchers- daughter has been waiting for the Croods 2 to come out- so we all went today. Took daughter to home bargains yesterday to grab some cinema snacks so I only spent £6 on the cinema trip rather than (£many) had we bought stuff in the foyer.Bottom line;

Arrrgh! My phone is playing up- yesterday the battery ran right down and it kept turning off. Overnight (despite being charged to 98% it ran down, turned itself off and is now refusing to charge at all)
Irritatingly because all my money is divided into pots- I currently only have access to £4.70. If I log onto banking via a computer they keep saying they'll have to confirm it via a text so I can't move the money over from the pots. Then on the way to work my petrol light has just come on!
However active solution planning- I have £20 to reclaim back from work and have the receipt with me so can get that this afternoon and get £10 of petrol on the way home which leaves me access to £14. - Will need £4 tomorrow for food group but other than that, I shouldn't need any money until Friday. I'm going to ask my good with technology friend to have a look at my phone tomorrow when he is round- If I can get it to charge a small amount this evening when I get home and have access to different chargers I'll turn it on and quickly move all my pots into my main current account.

In excellent news- phone randomly (after being plugged into charger for 5 hours with no case on) suddenly kicked into life and started charging- I've moved all the money from my pots back into my main account. *relief*
Will still ask friend to have a look at it tomorrow but for now the main problem is fixed.Bottom line;

Phone now appears to be working again- not sure what's going on with that.
Follow up question to anyone who uses Monzo- when you subdivide all your money into 'pots' in that- does all the money stay in your main account? I have a monzo account that I currently only use for my £25 'fun money' but that could potentially be a solution to the problems I've had with Lloyds.Bottom line;

Watching the Monzo question with interest. I always transfer from a pot to the main account before spending it…there must be an easier way?Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Full disclaimer - I only have a free Monzo account, not the premium version. So I have to transfer money from pots to main account before spending.I have to be careful with recurring payments like my Spotify subscription because if the money isn’t in your main account (but IS in a pot) the payment will get rejected.I think that spending directly from Monzo pots might be possible with the premium account. I definitely know that you can allocate direct debits to specific pots with premium but not sure about other types of payments.On the phone - maybe because it’s been so hot? My old phone used to play up when it got overheated0

Couldn’t comment about the premium version as use the free version.I have an overdraft set against my Monzo so if I forget to transfer the money it notifies the payment has gone out and I’m in my overdraft. You get until 23:00 to move money over before they charge so don’t end up incurring any overdraft charges.Once the notification comes up on phone it’s a great reminder.April 2020 - £102,222 Loans/CC’s.

You could however set up an automatic transfer that if you go into your free £20 OD it would transfer over money from a pot.0 -
I think it is the heat- I've made sure to not have it in my pocket today and kept it on my desk instead and it's been fine.
In which case Monzo wouldn't solve the problem as if my phone died I'd also be locked out of my account without the app. Thanks @GeorgianaCavendishBottom line;

Just had another thought about the phone, my mum had an issue with her iPhone not charging properly a couple of months ago - turned out it needed a software update! After that was done it all worked ok. Seems really odd to me, but she hasn’t had any issues since!1
