Should I just pay? (BW Legal - Intent to Proceed after defence submitted)

Afternoon all,
Sorry if this has already been covered in another thread. I've been on here for a while now and read many threads but I worry my understanding of it all is not adequate and I'm just delaying the inevitable.
My claim is regarding my visit to a pub in Bedford around 16 months ago. It was dark (about 8pm) and there was a very narrow entrance to the pub car park (I had about 3 inches of clearance on either side) which I had not visited before. I don't even live in Bedford but it was equidistant for me and this girl who I was meeting. Anyway, I didn't see anything regarding parking but I don't drink or go to pubs so was not expecting there to be a charge, especially at night. Anyway, I appealed online when they first contacted me and insisted I would pay whatever the charge would have been, but nothing more. The only response to that I got was that it wasn't accepted. I tried to call but was only able to get through to an automated payment service. The letters stopped late last year and I thought they'd given up but then I received a claim form from CCBC Northampton. I followed the thread on here and used the template provided to send my defence to the email address also provided on this form. I received acknowledgement from the CCBC that they had received my defence and forwarded it to the claimant. I have now received a letter from BW Legal regarding their intention to proceed after receiving my defence. I'm starting to dread the possibility of this all being futile and that my best bet is to work something out with them. I'm also taking into consideration the state of my current mental health having been stuck at home for 2 months with no income and an ever growing concern for my financial wellbeing. So apologies if I'm being paranoid but do I really have a chance against their legal team should this go to court?
Thanks everyone!

Just scare tactics. If they've gone and issued court proceedings, then they blooming well ought to plan to go ahead with a claim, otherwise what are they doing?
File and serve a DQ. Get it moved closer to home.
Hope the rendez vous went well, if not the parking!2 -
have appealed to the pub manager ? 9if its part of a national chain the complain to the CEO head office......this is best done before any actual court action startsRalph2

Yes you are being paranoid (you did ask!) and by the time this gets to a hearing you won't have been cooped up at home for months! You will be in a better frame of mind.I'm starting to dread the possibility of this all being futile and that my best bet is to work something out with them.
Stoppit!! Give yourself a talking to...!
Always complain to landowners about their parking firm. Most places don't need one and will take consumer complaints seriously.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

first of all do not identify the driver, do not use terms such as I parked, he parked, or I/he/she etc did this.
Secondly, avoid usernames that can be used to identify yourself.
If your name is Alfie and you were born in 1979 I would suggest starting again with a new username.
and for a bit of help, you won't be paying a penny, but you will need to follow the advice on here
The car entered the car park, and stayed for X amount of time, (to the nearest 5 minutes) picking someone up at NAME AND LOCATION OF OF PUB and as registered keeper of the vehicle I received a parking charge notice from NAME OF PARKING COMPANYFrom the Plain Language Commission:

And no, if I'm accepting the blame for anything, it's me unsuccessfully attempting to date a pretty girl!

I haven't received a DQ from anyone yet so I'm hoping that's a good sign.
No, it means nothing and we are telling you to download one - N180 court form - and file & serve it like the NEWBIES thread tells you (question by question, it's covered there...no ticking yes to Mediation).
