Not sure about if they work weekends? I’ve no idea why all this has happened. I’ve also sent another recorded letter setting out clearly why I think I meet the conditions needed for the disability element.

Someone is working today, as my recorded delivery response has been signed for.

As far as I know, it’s posties who sign for recorded delivery due to the virus. At least you know it’s arrived!
Just checked the letter I sent yesterday and mine too has been signed for at 5.39am!!  Yes, defo the postie signing.   Fingers crossed we hear back soon.  We need help not them making things more difficult than they are.

Tax Credits staff work 7 days a week, there's a local office a couple of miles down the road from where I live and it's staffed every day. Of course it's possible that not every office is a 7 days a week operation but the one near me certainly is. Whether they take calls every day is another matter. They did, for a while, but that was quite a few years ago.

There was an article about this problem in my local paper yesterday. It's in a weekly column which is written by someone from Citizens Advice. It said that CAB's all over the country are getting many calls about this letter. It also said that HMRC have been contacted by someone high up in the CAB chain regarding the contents of the letter.

It sounds to me like a computer glitch at HMRC that has generated a letter to people who qualify for Tax Credits with a disability element by the Case G route . And what a time to have it happen, when there's less staff available to be able to deal with queries and not helped by Tax Credits staff who sound very unsympathetic as well as lacking in knowledge of the tax credit system they administer. Sadly there'll be people out there who have no support, who will have received this letter and who may be in a state of panic as a result.

Thanks Robbie, very interesting! I didn’t even get this letter people talk about. Just withdrew disability element without even telling me! I feel sorry for anyone with mental health problems, it could tip them over the edge.

I'd hope their mistake may have been noticed by now, thus I am leaning towards this being intentional.
Naturally, I hope I am wrong and I receive a letter stating it's all one big error.
Kitten - As you haven't received the letter, it may be that your situation is different. It could be that their are many errors at the moment, possibly due to the system being under severe strain because of the current pandemic.

I just hope this gets sorted positively for us all. It's upsetting for me to have to worry about money and possibly getting another job to cover the losses, despite being physically unable too, and i'm a tough old fool, let alone someone a bit more vulnerable than I am.

I really don’t know Gellar what the heck they are doing but we could do without it! Mine seemed ok until I went onto my account to put in the correct earnings for last year, just to keep everything ok. Wish I hadn’t now if it’s caused this mess. Could be something different who knows? What a worry for us all as if we haven’t got enough to cope with. Thank goodness I checked my bank account and noticed they hadn’t made the expected 13th May payment!  Do you think we’ll get compensated for all this stress?......joke!!
    Good luck.

Compensation? Never going to happen. I think we should just hope that it gets sorted in a positive manner for us all. If it's a mistake and they haven't noticed a month after the mistake occurred, someone's head should roll. I know they are understaffed, but someone should have been on top of this, if it is a genuine mistake.
I'm cynical though. I'm sure many things are going unnoticed whilst the world focuses on Covid-19.

So true Gellar! Yes, my compensation comment was a joke, we can’t even get any answers as to what has happened! Hope this week brings some news.
