I was looking for something else and came across this https://revenuebenefits.org.uk/tax-credits/guidance/how-do-tax-credits-work/understanding-disability/. See the last part which highlights the problem you are experiencing. Doesn't help get it sorted but does demonstrate that you are not alone!Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0

I am so sorry for not replying to all the people who have taken the time to comment and give advice to my original query. Time and circumstances took over and I haven't had chance to return here to follow up on the post. I contacted HMRC via their live chat and explained about the letter I had received that my DLA/PIP was stopping - even though I had never received it ! This online conversation resulted in a very clear picture that the person I was chatting to had no idea about the Incapacity route to the Disability Element of WTC and informed me that I should not have been receiving anything for the last 10 years ! Panic set in ! I then managed to have a phone call to HMRC the next day who said just to fill the letter/form in and return. This I did. I had already received the annual review letter in April prior to the query letter about the DLA/PIP benefits stopping. I then received a 4 page provisional tax credit letter - this showed the tax credits I would receive from 6/4/20 to ......6/4/20 - yes - 1 day ! In the next days post I received another provisional tax credit letter for 6/4/20 to 5/4/21 -for an amount not much different from the original April annual review amount. Thought that was that but today I received a phone call from HMRC to ask what benefit I received prior to starting work and was there a gap between the Incapacity benefit finishing and starting work. I explain that the job centre sorted all the information and claim out at the time and that it was claimed under the fast track category. The person from the HMRC just said they will pass the information on and someone will be in touch ! So I am still on a provisional tax credit amount and non the wiser. Looking at the posts it is obvious something is amiss in HMRC - both from the point of the information they have ( or don't have on their system) and also the staff training. Watch this space !1

Hi All, well on the 30th June it wasn't completed like it said it would be, so I got on the messaging service and went full force at the person. The person is like hey I am working from home, give me until next Monday to sort this, she seemed shocked I had never claimed any of the benefits on the letter.
I just checked and it says completed, so I checked my payments and they all look the same. Am I done now, have I passed?0
