WTC with disability element

I got one of these 2 days ago also, I originally qualified about 5 years ago after ICB for years at high rate, in Feb I had Corona and the doc signed me off. I couldn't get SSP, they told me I could get employment support allowance, so I got it. I thought the letter was because of this, however reading the notes, they are for a new claim and I think I've Fu*ked up now because I have not been getting esa long enough for a new claim for the disability element.
I now meet all conditions but the final one, I don't know if to give up the tax credits and stay on ESA and I'll be put in support group and do permitted work until I can reapply for the disability element of the TC again.
They're obviously starting recouping the corona costs from the poorest and most vulnerable workers, I'm self employed and work from home and on the road, so I didn't get any grants, just the 30% one.
It's so weird we are all getting these, maybe we all need to contact MIND or someone like that?? I am writing back asking for an explanation of the letter, as it is not clear and the notes are for a new claim, not an existing one.
I have to put the ESA claim on that form, but it's contribution based, I am so stressed and full of anxiety because of it.0 -
Hi,
I've received one of these a few days ago and have a similar situation to other members. I was on Long Term IB until mid-2007 then moved onto WTC with disability element when I tried working part time as I can't work a full week due to a heart condition. I have worked part time since then with no issues with renewing each year but this letter has got me a bit worried as I have never claimed the benefits they say have recently stopped.
One query I have got though is that I did get made redundant in August 2014 and couldn't get another job until June 2015. I was advised to claim JSA and not ESA for this period by JCP as they said I'd still be getting NI Credits because of my long term illness and would help me get a job quicker. When I restarted work, we checked with WTC advisor and they said it's fine for my claim to continue as I am still classed as disabled but now am concerned that this gap may have negative effects on my claim? I don't think so because Case G states that once you are entitled to the disability element then it continues until a) the disabilty/illness improves and b) you are no longer entitled to WTC. I assume that even though I wasn't entitled for those few months that as soon as I did become entitled again when I got a job, the eligiblity continues? Do others agree as it is concerning me even though they have told us several times when renewing since then that the claim is fine!! I just get a bit nervous about these things as have read so many horror stories re CTC/WTC!0 -
This is the guidance they use.
With regards to this form - Step 24 onwards, but earlier steps may apply.0 -
I’ve not even had a letter! Just my annual review with a note of what my payments will be for this year. Fine, except when I checked my bank statement no expected payment! Plus I can see from my online account they have now taken off the disability element without telling me! Hope they have a good and valid reason for this because I can’t think of one! To be continued...😂0

On that link Whizzywoo has given us here’s another reply on it “There are a number of threads reporting the same issue on another forum. I wonder if it’s something in the software used to generate renewal packs this year”. Well if it is this they need to tell us and stop causing all this undue worry!1
