I tried RBS but wouldn't entertain an application as I'm in England I presume?PRAISETHESUN said:
I was considering doing this a few months ago so I might give it a shot now for both NatWest and RBS. Yes they state it's against their T&Cs but if they fail to enforce them that's their problem IMO. Will be curious if they catch on and downgrade one of them - keep us updated with how that goes!funkycredit said:Well my second rewards account - and the actual My Rewards tab is up and visible online do I stuffed it with £1250 (new one) and right now have 2 open rewards. Both have £1250 in and both have £1k overdrafts. All pretty easy so far..... will set up DD's today ready to start earning rewards. Will keep you updated next month when hopefully the rewards will be sorted.
even i dont think it should be a problem for you to open RBS account if you stay in England. Don't go with the name thinking only people living in Scotland can apply for RBS account. There might be some other issue then, so you tried the application, submitted and then? did it say you cant have RBS account, may be you failed their credit check?

Weird. I clicked to apply and pretty early on it cancelled out saying I was ineligible. So I just closed the window and left it. Presumed it was due to my location as I read RBS were only offering accounts to Scottish addresses? No reason for them to decline so early - certainly not considering how many accounts I've got and can open accounts instantly ordinarily.PRAISETHESUN said:
That's odd because I live in England too and I have both a NatWest and RBS reward account, both generating monthly rewards. I had issues getting access to the rewards aspects of the accounts as discussed earlier in the thread by the OP, but no issues opening the current accounts themselves.funkycredit said:

See above. I added screenshot. I can't fail their credit check (clearly something though?). That makes no sense as I can open private and premier accounts and always get offered overdrafts etc. My credit is over £70k available on 0% used. But not bothered, just odd that NatWest allowed a second one yesterday with OD but their sister bank says get lost. Not overly fussed as I'd never use them as my main bank. I only wanted more free moneyGhostcrawler said:funkycredit said:

@funkycredit It'd be interesting to see what they come back with if you requested further information about their assessment process, as they mention in the screenshot you've provided. I suspect however it'd be nothing more than a generic response. Maybe try again down the line, or perhaps on a different device and see what happens?1

Maybe you've been declined an account for RBS because you applied for a Natwest account on the same day?? IDK just guessing.funkycredit said:

That's twice now. First time was a few months ago on laptop and earlier on, on iPhone. It's clearly something with me. Maybe my name just doesn't fitPRAISETHESUN said:@funkycredit It'd be interesting to see what they come back with if you requested further information about their assessment process, as they mention in the screenshot you've provided. As I say it's fine, I'm already in a head mess with all the transfers in and out to meet the criteria on the ones I've got so I'll plod along with those and see what's what.Just started to put £1500 through Club Lloyd's to get a free lifestyle thingy - no DD's etc required, so simple TSB -> Lloyd's transfer of £1500 in and straight back to meet both account monthly criteria. Then it's messing around between Barclays -> NatWest -> Co-Op -> NatWest 2 -> Halifax -> 2 PO Debit card payments and a grand back to source account. The Virgin accounts with a grand in don't need anything. Just lump it in and leave it (I think).Hope I'm not pulled for money laundering pmsl

It did exact same when I last applied before I had NatWest. It's fine, not overly fussed tbh. Cheers though. Be good to know why but it could be credit file as I do have a lot of searches - but it's never stopped me / been an issue before. I do earn a bit, so like with Barclays premier, once I sent in payslips they bent over backwards - even though it was declined at first due to previous searches (They asked me why I had 40 searches this year so I told them that I earn a good wage and thus save over £5k a month & wanted accounts to earn what interest I could so once they verified it and seen my Santander Select balance they welcomed me with open arms and the problematic searches were no longer a problem)! Still won't ever get me fully leaving Santander - no matter how much they try lol. It's the best bank by a long shot followed by Nationwide in my view so they're always my main banks.ischris85 said:

But shows you how weird scoring and eligibility can be.1 -
Just two questions: the rewards are not taxable? Does the pop £1250 in, pop it out work to satisfy the terms? And the net 'profit' (subject to the DDs) is £3 pm? TY0
