ASB Hoping the doc rings and something good comes out of it.
Washing on the line, campfire stew in SC.
Today would have been my sister's birthday. Thinking of her with a joyful heart. Still loved and missed but I am so glad she was in my life.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I feel fantastic! Just been to the hairdresser, cut and colour, sorry ladies. Also included a long face to face chat with a very good friend (we often book the hairdresser at the same time and usually follow it with lunch out but sadly nowhere open yet). Got home and DD2 had cooked lunch. So feeling very pampered.
Flying wise, another load in WM, recycling out and cleaned up cat pee.

Goodintentions said:On that note, I have a cleaning question! As some of you may know, I am a childminder, which means that I will have children from other households in my home. I understand that I will need to be cleaning everything after they go home! I plan to utilise my garden as much as possible, and probably put some toys away or limit resources available (I usually allow free choice). The guidance states that soft furnishings should be removed if possible, eg soft toys, dressing up, rugs, cushions, sofas & carpets! Now, I am not fortunate enough to have a separate playroom, and use my through lounge/diner as my working space. The lounge is carpeted & I have leather sofas. I can wipe down the sofas, but how do I sanitise the carpets daily? Will a steam cleaner be ok? Although I'm not sure my current one has a carpet glider?
ALL surfaces, door handles, work tops, skirtings, tables, hard plastics would need disinfecting daily... it is not practical.
tbh.. is it worth bothering if you are all huddled together for several hours .. and even if a child has been unwell and recovered live virus is expelled in faecal matter for a long while after the symptoms end. As I parent I wouldn't expect you to disinfect your entire house daily knowing you had been exposed to one another all day and would be tomorrow and the next day etc.. it just seems stupid to even try. Obviously standards of cleanliness have to be adhered to as regulations but as with all childcare settings it is impossible to do everything. So long as hand washing after toiletting and basic hygiene is maintained that should be sufficient. You can not decontaminate yourself daily and your body can harbour this virus for weeks... the carpet is the least issue.
3 loads of washing on the line and a TD full of undies and socks
DW on1 dry load foldedMade a start on Pixie a cardigan.. she is desperate for something in a blue yarn I have so I'm on with that.
Had a huge food parcel and childrens university drop off for the girls so they are happily stuffed in books at the moment. I spoke to the teacher about Dot.. She is the assistant SENco and much better at the job than the horrible, lazy, good for nothing senco.. who I would fire.. She was very sympathetic with Dots issues and agreed that her mental health was much more important than Egyptians and dividing fractions.. Dot had a total meltdown on the video chat yesterday so I'm not pushing that again.
OH posted a parcel collected Boogs prescription and bought milk.. when he got back we had taken delivery of 9 litres of UHT milk.. my shed fridge is bursting with eggs, cheese, apples and now milk.. (can't have warm milk, its gross) and a few cans of carling.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)9 -
Thank you for today’s lovely list, Valli xx. I am going to save that one for this weekend as it is not one to skip.
Worked until just after lunchtime, then dashed home (2 minute walk!) to tick off some serious flying... Bathroom, ensuite and downstairs loo cleaned, vacuumed and mopped, spare bedroom vacc’d. Hair washed and stretched just to emphasise the grey roots even further (so envious, Mademoiselle!), bedroom floor duly swept with enough hair to stuff a cushion, kitchen vacuumed and (final flourish) kitchen floor mopped. The utility room is going to have to go on my list to tackle, as the floor is gross, and the cobwebs even worse. I’ve been out to the greenhouse to check my plants and seedlings, and shut them all up for the cold night ahead. Quite a productive day, all in all. It’s a veggie risotto for dinner tonight, so not too onerous.9 -
Thanks Pigpen. I know all surfaces need to be cleaned, but I am going to try and limit where they go. Potentially, it won't be the same child all week, but changing daily. In all honesty, I can't see that many of them coming back for a while, so it shouldn't be too bad. However, I need to think about policies & procedures. One policy I intend to stick to is a zero tolerance on child sickness! The tendency is for parents to dose up a child on calpol, or not be truthful about a bout of D&V, so that they can go to work! Don't get me wrong, I have been a working parent so I understand the pressures, but this is different. Also, it is not just a temp or cough for children, they tend to get upset tummies as well with this virus, so all sickness will be 7 days off!! I can't risk it for my family or the other families.
Well, I didn't complete Round 2 (hangs head in shame) The utility can wait for another day! I did go to the allotment and filled a bucket with weeds. My spuds look like they have suffered a bit from the cold, but the tomatoes look fine. I plan to spend longer there tomorrow. I am also still trying to summon up the motivation to start running again.... maybe I should ask DD2 if she fancies going out tomorrow......
Washing in off the line, DW needs emptying. WI at 8pm. DH apologised that he hadn't cleaned up the kitchen, but I told him it is on FB live rather than Zoom, so no-one can see the kitchen!
Valli big hugs to you today x

Hi all
I have a sore throat, headache and feel sleepy. I have been nowhere except hospital with DS last Wednesday when I wore a mask, didnt go near anyone and didnt touch anything. I really cant see how I have picked anything up.
Work done, everyone fed (except DH who is late home), a little flying done. Feet up now, family funeral at the cemetery tomorrow, not looking forward to that, then it will soon be weekend.10 -
Decided to be a lazy wotsit and not rush to the laptop for normal start time. I finally got up around 9.20am, made coffee, took the covers off the seedlings, refilled the bird feeders, as this year we seem to have acquired the Sparrows and various members of the Blue-and-otherTit-family, plus a Wren. The feeder is going down almost as soon as it's full, and then the suet and soaked mealworms (ugh) are being happily carried off, presumably according to the size of young.
Idiot Cat is rather miffed at my not letting him out as much as he could (doesn't move from his bed all day, but the moment I get up, he's there), but tough tt, kitty.
Finally switched my laptop on at lunchtime (I got distracted), two minutes after I got an email asking me to do something incredibly urgent. So did it and got a thanks for being so quick response. And precious little since then.
Himself was getting himself tied up in knots over back to work next week. Well, unless he has the monthly rent stuffed under his guitar, that's tough luck, too. And he said his best mate was asking to come around because he's bored. NO. I've had wheezy symptoms since March. Your asthmatic (and extremely needy) best mate is NOT coming round.
Ah, well. Think I'll have a snack and then shove off for an early night.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll9
