Hello
I wrote a really long post yesterday only for the site to crash!!!
The cats are now in a cattery and the plumbers been round to check things at my sister's. We still haven't heard from her.
Had the survey back on the flat - it urgently needs new windows because of rot. But I love the flat so will get the work done.
Out tonight for my friend's birthday but I really don't want to go. She wants everyone to spend around £100 on alcohol:eek: I simply don't have it. I tried talking to her yesterday and she was just like "well I'm overdrawn and I'm still doing it". But that's not me. We've already been out for a drink this week, had lunch yesterday, I've bought her a present and we're out to dinner tonight before hitting the town. And all she wants to do is get drunk and find a bloke to go home with. Again, not me. Decided I'm not staying at hers, but will get Mum to come and pick me up so I can go home. I'm really dreading tonight. I don't want to go, but as I'm seeing her at an event I'm working at tomorrow,I can't really say I'm ill or anything - I am, as I have a cold coming on.
Filled the car up with petrol yesterday - £1.01.9/litre:eek:  Must pay the solicitor on Monday to start the searches on the flat - another £400 nearly.
Feeling very stressed with everything at the moment. And hoping things will calm down soon.
Hope everyone's okComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Hi again
Forgot to say, when we tried a load of washing - on the new laminate floor we found water:eek:  The worst damage to the floor was under the water, so looks like I have a washer problem. As I have household appliance insurance, moved from NU to Dom & Gen rang them, what at nightmare, and can't come out until 11th December. Already had a weeks washing piled up due to kitchen being OOA:eek:  It is not new so may just buy a new 1600 rpm machine. Does anyone else have one with this spin speed and what do you think?
Not quite Pen-Pen we have some unused old laminate left, taking up room in the garage, its glued though not click so probably couldn't sell it would do a hallway for someone. Super Slicer not gone, nor had wardrobe front. I am going to try to sell the doors as they are not that bad, don't know what to ask though. We have the loft to start on yet.
Sorry I am leading the kitchen race, but my guy is good I know, was going to add some photos to Photobucket, but forgot my logon/pwd and its auto on my desktop which is now laying in bits complete dead:eek: Nelski - you are cruel mocking me on the Techie Thread:rotfl: :rotfl:
So on top of all this looks like I may be queuing at Aldi in the morning.

Morning everyone,
My, it's busy on here today! Haven't been keeping up entirely with the threads - life just seems so manic at the moment but at least I'm earning lots of overtime.
Happy Birthday to Thriftlady and JackieO's DD
Aussie haven't read about your DH but I believe good luck wishes for his op are in order so good luck.
LTS and Jannyannie hope your poorly children are better soon - with not too much cleaning up to do!
Catznine the Cologne Christmas markets sound fabulous. Hope you enjoy it.
donny-gal by the sounds of it, you won't have any problem getting shot of the snooker table. Wish DS would part with his - well, he would but DD won't let him!
Plumduff what a fantastic achievement - enjoy your celebrations.
redruby and shez hope you each enjoy your day out in the capital.
dlb had to :rotfl: at you waiting for DH to grumble when plumbing the DW in. I used to time my XDH when he started doing a DIY job - how long would it take him to say "This is carp - this is the worst design in the world". He said it every single time he did something in the house.
JackieO I had decided that I wasn't going to watch Cranford but I'm glad that I watched the repeat of the first episode. It was fabulous. A stellar cast who work so well together. A wee gem.
Hilstep haven't read about your mum but ((((hugs)))) to you and yours.
stefjb you must be soooo looking forward to your family reunion.
Nelski hope you get the carpet fitted and enjoy your pm with your DBro.
scuzz your friend seems a tad inconsiderate. If I were you, I wouldn't put £100 into a kitty. I would buy a round or two and leave when you want to. Hope you enjoy the night though.
jayward ((((hugs))))) to you on what has been a tough time.
I can't believe that by *really* thinking about what I'm buying in shops that I have saved almost half of the roofers £720 bill already.  It makes me wonder how much more I can save next year. I feel a challenge coming on.
Going out to spend money now though.Homebase are having a 10% off day and I need to buy a special paint designed for covering bright colours (for DS's bedroom). I thought I may just be able to put a couple of coats of white paint on but when I tried a patch, the colours are still vibrant after three coats so this paint should be worth it if it does what it says on the tin.#
My thriftiness is beginning to rub off on my DS. We were in the supermarket and DD headed straight for the advent calendars. DS said to her "Mum's saving money and anyway we can fill up the fabric calendars for a fraction of the price". I was so proud of him.
Have a super Saturday everyone. xx"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

OH has bought me Foyle's War DVDs and some Persephone books. If you don't know Persephone books I can recommend them. They are all reprints of forgotten boks from the twentieth century (first half mostly) and they're mainly by women. I've already bought some with Amazon vouchers my parents gave me and I really loved The Home-Maker and Family Roundabout. .
Happy Birthday Thriftlady - hope you have a lovely day...thanks for putting the link to the books I didn't know existed that are going to bankrupt us in your postI appreciate it hugely :j:j:jbut poor DH is now crying in the corner as he gently bangs his head against the wall :rotfl:Oooh I love books, I do, I do, I do !

Morning...just.
It's busy on here this morning, so much news to catch up on.
G.Broon, enjoy having the children.
Catznine, well done on the job and enjoy Cologne.
Aussie, hope DH's op goes ok, maybe you can put him to work knitting as he recuperates. :rotfl:
Hilstep, sorry to hear about your mum.
Dlb, well done with the MOT and all those decs.
Donny-girl, was going to congratulate you on the kitchen, but now I read you've got a leak..maybe a pipe has come loose during the moving about.
Redruby, enjoy the day in London.
Plumduff....woo hoo well done on paying off the mortgage, I know it can be seen as cheap borrowing, but it's still a sum of money to find each month. Are you going to start a regular savings account with your 'mortgage' money?
Thriftlady...happy birthday:bdaycake: thanks for the Persephone link, those books look really good, I will have a look on Amazon.
JackieO, enjoy your day with the kids helping and also your pine cone hunt tomorrow, please don't overdo it though.
Pen-Pin, have a good meal out.
Jayward, I'm pleased your friend is now here.
TiredMum, lets hope things continue ok for DS on Monday.
Nelski, I hope the carpet fitters are dishy when they arrive, a bit of eye candy to make up for the messing about. Enjoy your meal and time with your brother.
AnnieBL, amazing that you have managed to save so much and not missed out on anything.
Stefejb, great price on the flights. :T
Haribo, enjoy the fayre and happy sewing.
Scuzz, I would say enjoy your night out. Your friend sounds just like mine, can you not suddenly be on antibiotics and unable to drink.
LTS, and Jannyannie, hope the LOs are feeling less sicky.
Phew! not much planned for me today, Miss Twit has to be at school for 1pm for a hockey match.
Tea is yet to be christened
Got my first Christmas Card today, I am thinking of enclosing a note in mine this year....along the lines of....The Twits will not be sending cards next year, but making a donation to charity instead.....Also, I'm intending on just sending a 'family card' to OH's Aunts and Uncles, their kids (adults with own families) send out the most awful cheapie cards, usually left at my MIL's. I post all mineand seem to spend more and more each year.....What do you Old Stylers think about this? (and yes I'm Bah Humbug):snow_laug
Oh well, must get on, the fairies haven't been to clean the kitchen again.
Hugs to those not mentioned by name.

Hi donny-gal,
There's a great website that's often mentioned on the In My Home board that may help: www.washerhelp.co.uk. It has a good section on repairs and common faults with diy solutions.
