Thanks Hun! The one he wanted from Lidls plays multi region, MP3's, MPEG..etc etc and had a 3 year guarantee.

Morning all
HAPPY BIRTHDAY THRIFTLADY
LEARNING TO SAVE hope your DD's feel better soon.
PLUMDUFF congratulations on paying off your mortgage :j
HILLSTEP Sorry to hear your sad news
Spent most of yesterday looking after DS who went downhill for the rest of the day. Ended up taking him to A&E in the end, when he was rolling around with stomach pains, said his neck hurt and didn't like the light. After several hours and blood tests we were sent home again. Think he is on the mend but he still looks dreadful. Slept in his room last night and we've both been awake since 4am. Feel about as lively as a used teabag.
Plan to potter today. Hugs to all who need them. :A xxxx0 -
Morning everyone.:hello:
It's the 1st December:j
After yesterday's busy busy, I've run out of steam so it's going to be a nice easy one. I had terrible cramp in my leg last night and it's quite sore today, so that's my excuse sorted:D
I am contemplating putting a wash on the line outside, as it's not raining here yet. Hopefully the wind will dry most of it, but knowing my luck, the minute I put it out, the rain will start.
I need to make some bread for lunch so will put the BM on shortly, and the girls want to make cakes. If the weather holds off, I might take them out for a walk up the canal this afternoon. They like that and it will stop DD2 sitting in front of some sort of computer game for a couple of hours._party_ Happy Birthday Thriftlady _party_
Have a nice day at the school Christmas fair HariboJunkie. You certainly have a busy week ahead.
Hope you manage to find your watch beemuzed.
:grouphug: HUGS :grouphug: to your girls LearningToSave. Hope they feel better soon. Same to your DS jannyannie. You must have been really worried, especially with his symptoms.on forgetting the advent calendars catznine + redruby. DD2 has opened her first window already this morning. Both girls went for high school musical calendars, and I have one where you put your own stuff in so will put something in that one each night before they go to bed.
Well done plumduff55. :j :j :j This site is wonderful, isn't it. I've certainly found a few tips to make our pennies stretch further.

Happy birthday thrfitlady and very well done to plumduff - you go celebrate girl!
New Johnny Depp day today and I've left my pirates advent calender at work - still I can have three choccies on monday. Dgs is having a bday party today for his friends and I will drop dd11 off at her dsis about 4pm and then must do a biggish shop and pay the deposit for our w*rk xmas lunch before picking her up again. flights booked for january - not bad - under £250 for five of us - I am so excited about this. With famiy all over the place we try to have a reunion every couple of years but when dbro went to new zealand we thought it would be very difficult to do it again. He is staying at my ddad's for a month over xmas and dsis is comng over from canada the same week as us. The only ones missing will be dbro from here and his partner - they are spending xmas at ddads and will have gone back home again by the time we get there. Not too bad for me as I see him all the time but dsis is sad.
well back to the blasted sock-knitting I suppose - have a good day all and big hugs to Jannyannie, Hilstep, learningtosave and anyone else who could do with oneI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -

have a great weekend
i love reading this forum best friend home tonight great ive missed her0 -
Thanks for all the birthday wishes:A
I'm having a quiet day at home although it has been suggested I have a double 21st party (I'm 42). My parents are coming for lunch which will be a big soup (chorizo, chickpeas, pumpkin, other veg) followed by birthday cake. I've done Nigella's old-fashioned chocolate cake from Feast -it looks good but I must say the icing is more sweet than chocolatey.
OH has bought me Foyle's War DVDs and some Persephone books. If you don't know Persephone books I can recommend them. They are all reprints of forgotten boks from the twentieth century (first half mostly) and they're mainly by women. I've already bought some with Amazon vouchers my parents gave me and I really loved The Home-Maker and Family Roundabout. I'm hoping for Amazon vouchers from my in-laws tooMy parents have also very generously ordered me a set of 24 paste food colourings which unfortunately won't arrive till the new year. I don't do a lot of cake decorating, but when I do I like good strong colours. Paste colours last forever and you don't need much to make a good shade. Their big advantage is that they don't dilute the icing.
I'm doing a chicken curry for supper 'cos I like it (so does everyone else) and I shall be using a curry paste:D .0 -

Catzine - Lucky you going to Cologne - would love to go:j
Donny Gal - Well done on the kitchen you will be lapping me significantly!!
Plumduff - That must be one good feeling to be mortgage free I will check out the mfw board to check how you did it:T
redruby - enjoy London sounds like a lovely day planned
Snowy - enjoy your chill day you deserve it
Hi to all I have missed - my memorys not what it used to be:rotfl:
Well its a beautiful day here today - looking out its blue sky not a cloud in sight looks like it could be 80 degrees (I wont check though it may spoil the illusion:rotfl: )
Am sitting here with my second cup of tea in a lovely new gingerbread mug which should have found itself to the christmas pressy pile but someone diverted itself into the "pressys for me" pile:o I am waiting for the 3rd attempt of the fitting of the hall stairs carpet - first attempt on thursday they brought the wrong one the second attempt yesterday they had a problem fitting someone elses so had to cancel me so here we are hoping that 3rd time really is lucky.
Donny gal is way ahead of me kitchen wise now and I am dubious it will be finished for christmas which is sooo annoying seeing as it started last week of Sept:mad: still as I always try to look on the positive it does mean i have a great excuse to keep eating out:D
Very excited today because as soon as the carpet fitter has finished (see what i mean about being positive:D ) I am off to Linconshire to see my brother for dinner:j :j :j :j havent seen him for 5 months so big hugs are in order. We are heading off to a really lovely restaurant so looking forward to a good feed:D
Right I should get back to tapping my fingers and tuttung at the inefficiency of carpet fitters:D (whilst watching Saturday kitchen of course)
Have a great saturday all

AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
how stupid was i planning a lazy day!!!! dd2 woke up shouting 'i sick mummy,i sick'......i went upstairs and sure enougfh she had been....but.....from the state of her bed, cuddly toys and her she had obviously been sick last night and just slept in it.
bathed her.....washed hair 4 times,it still smells sicky and still getting little bits out!! changed bed, washed down plastic undersheet, wall then had to get everything out from under bed and clean down the side(her bed against wall).bits of sick falling out of sheets on way downstairs also mean that house has had thorough vacuum!!
washing machine now on with bedding, jammies, cuddly toys etc........have to go wash bath out properly now so may as well clean the bathroom properly today instead of tomorrow.
next time i say im having a lazy day remind me i should never document that fact!!!!! lol!!!!
thanks for all the get well wishes for my girls, hopefully after trip to docs yesterday and much dishing out of medicines they will be ok after the weekend.
CATOWEN........oooo i bet you are enjoying the football being cancelled!
CATZNINE........lucky you!!! i love cologne and would s love to go there for xmas market time.0 -
Woke up at 6.30 and made pack up for DD and breakfast before she went to work.
Then sat on computer with a tray of tea - bliss!
I got DD(13) a High school musical advent as well!
Just made brekkie for other two DDs and DH sayshe will take me to Lidl later.
Still need to find smart black trousers to wear for DD's graduation next week.
Might go to Leeds after Lidl and look there.
Waiting for dd to phone me back as I want to make sure we are not giving her sister the same present and I have seen a good deal on play.com.
No idea what to make for tea but have had a good brekkie so no one should starve.
Might be wildly creative and either make a "buffet" with spicy potato wedges to go with whateve I can find or just let everyone chose somehing that is quick and easy.
Stuffed tortillas are usually popular and if DH moans he can have poached egg or something.
Hugs to everybody.
Happy Birthday Thriftlady.:bdaycake:"This site is addictive!"
