Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednessday 29th November. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and
motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone.:hello:
I got up in a panic as [strike]I had forgotten to fill the advent calendar with chocolate coins[/strike] I needed to check the pixies had been to fill the advent calendar  and now the rain is hitting the windows horizontally and I can't get back to sleep.
The school Christmas fair is on today so that will get us out nice and early and then I have to get some more supplies for the last of my preserve making. All my friends have been scavanging for jars for me so I should be able to do some more. If the weather improves we may fit in a walk. If not I think a DVD in front of the fire is in order.
Will be despatching OH to get our Christmas tree today and that will go up tommorrow. :xmastree: The outlaws are coming to help us decorate it and I usually do some party food and mulled wine so that should get me in the mood.
(for Christmas Aussie before you ask

Pink....I predict your head may be sore too today. :shhh:
:silenced: :whistle:See.....we must have that spooky sibling bond that lets us know when the other is in pain.

Can't remember what you're supposed to say on the first of the month but it's something to do with punching isn't it?

Morning Haribo - see you're still up! What a busy week you have ahead. good luck with it all. I couldn't sleep due to the wind, which was rattling all the doors and windows upstairs. We have to get some pressies bought today and go to the Church bazaar. Not too many bargains there, but a good cause.
Have put the WM and BM on, so have made a start. Shopping list is done, so might get dressed soon and head off to Mr T's.
Lost my lovely watch this week, so am feeling miserable about that. Hoping it'll turn up somewhere, but running out of options.
Hope everyone to follow on here has a good day. I need to catch up with reading everyone's doings of late - can tell the pace of the school term is accelerating madly towards the production, parties and general end of term chaos as no time free just now!
(((HUGS))) to anyone who needs one today - and if anyone is celebrating, I hope you have a fantastic day.Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -

Yes beemuzed I am still up and surprisingly awake.
Hope you find your watch soon
Pam....I've just been updating my Christmas spreadsheet.Sad I know but it does help me keep track of my spending as I find it's the little things for the girls which add up. I still have to pick up a few small things for them but then I must avoid all toy shops as I just can't stop myself picking up wee stocking fillers and they really add up.

Morning everyone.
What a miserable day it is out there! Wet and soggy. Windy too.
I am up at my usual time. But I enjoy playing about on here while it's nice a quiet. Fresh cup of coffee made up and nothing to do until 9, when i will take my Daughter to work.
I have to work at 1pm, so not a very exciting day for me... Tomorrow we are putting up the decs. A big family thing, along with a roast etc... Should be a good day.
Only 2 weeks until our holiday, so things are getting exciting. I bought 3 new suitcases yesterday £18 each... Probably won't last more that the one trip, but I will claim and get my money back... Happens everytime..
Well folks have a nice day...NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -

Well today will be spent sorting out the bedrooms as I have the family descending on me on wednesday and then we are off to Cologne for a trip to the christmas markets :j :xmastree: :rudolf: :snow_laug then I will feel properly Christmassy as they really know how to do Christmas in the old fashioned way out there. I can smell that gingerbread and mulled wine already! :xmassmile

Have a lovely day and

Morning all before and all who follow:rotfl: :rotfl: , well usually changes before I get posted.
Happy Birthday Thriftlady:bdaycake:
Well the contents of the kitchen cupboards are now back in, after several re-arrangements and [strike]arguments[/strike] discusions with someone who knows where I want things in the kitchen better than I do.
I found out that I will not need any cleaning materials, dusters, microfibre cloths, things to get stains out of laundry until probably around 2012.
Well up until July I was a full time worker with a cleaner and I didn't want her to run out did I?:T As well as 6 cling films, 3 small foils, plastic bags by the score, and I had better get on with baking too!
Not put all the things on the worktop yet as we still have to:
1-Tile behind where the extractor was to fit a new chimney style one.
2 - Emulsion the ceiling
3 - Buy and fit a new centre light (6' flourescent looks wrong with modern style kitchen) and make good any holes it leaves.
4 - Remove paper from entrance porch
5 - Emulsion inside of cloak cupboard together with porch
6 - Fit shelf (ready to fit but makes painting easier) in cloak cupboard and re-fill.
When all that is behind us we then have to empty the side bedroom for the work on that. Oh joy:rolleyes:
Going to try the old fashioned method of selling DS's 5' snooker table - our local Paper Shop. Its in really good condition as he looked after his toys, and DH made a mini rest and reach to go with it, and has balls for both pool and snooker so think it should go. A bit more de-cluttering - some other things gone to free-cycle but like Pen-Pen some email to say they want things and then don't email back to say they don't.
:grouphug:Hugs all round:grouphug:
 Hi Amie - where are you hiding?
Take care - DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Morning All
Happy Birthday Thriftlady  Have a lovely day.
Well the wind has dropped here and its not raining at the moment but everything is very wet and think DS will be covered in mud after footie practice. Everyone else is still asleep - I love having the house to myself.
I have loads of paperwork, washing and ironing to do. Think I will have to concentrate on paperwork today. I like doing it at the weekends in a way as I know I wont have any phone calls to interupt me. OH is taking the kids up his mums later although DD might refuse to go. She is meant to be going to a friends but is still under the weather.
There is a Xmas Fayre at a local garden centre so might pop along to that later but I do have everything sorted for Xmas so would be a good idea to stay at home and save my money.
No idea whats for dinner today so will have to have a route around in the freezer later.
Have a good day.

Good morning everyone, I'm up and about early today as I'm soooooooooo excited - today I'm going to make the last payment on my mortgage :j:j:j
I discovered this site about 2 years ago and decided to try and pay off the mortgage early. As time went on I paid more and more of my wages to it, and most of my savings. I suppose I became a bit neurotic about it, but today is my last payment SEVEN YEARS EARLY!!!
Today I am going to treat myself to the ultimate - SOME M&S FOOD, I never buy M&S food as it seems so expensive, but not today I'm really going OTT !
In the afternoon I am going to a Chrismassy fete and will watch a DVD tonight after the X Factor.
I am so grateful to this site, reading it daily has kept me going. Once I work out the figures I will post on the MFW board.
Have a great Saturday everyone !!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY THRIFTLADY :bdaycake:Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)

catznine when we first got our dog, and pur the xmas decs up, she was the tiniest little thing, but somehow, she managed to not only eat all the chocolate decorations we had put on the tree, but left all the little bits of foil
