Ok time for an update - day before payday and I have £5.02 left in my account so I will transfer this straight to Capital One (every little helps!) Have been feeling a bit deflated because I havent been able to do much this past week while waiting for payday so have checked back to my starting figure and worked out how much I have paid in January :

    Starting : 43782.64
    Current : 43040.62
    Total pd since 01/01 - 742.02 :j

So that has cheered me up! Well done to everyone so far off to update sig! x x

  • Hi,

I'm a newbie but i'd like to join in if i may....
My debt is a shocking £60,000+ so i'm very keen on trying to pay £20k off by December 2008!!

I've been reading everyone posts and you all seem to be doing really well.

I have not long signed up with cccs on a debt management plan and they predict that i will be debt free in 7 years. I am determined to reduce that!

Does anyone have any tips or pointers in how I can raise a few extra £'s here and there please?

Hi Shinedog, and welcome to the wonderful world of MSE.

As for tips....well, where to start!!!

Head over to the thread that says make £10 a day in January - that challenge is just coming to a close so you will see all the things people are doing to get extra money in - £10 a day is about £300 extra a month, so in a year that is £3600 - not bad going and certainly will reduce the debt a bit quicker!

The February £10 a day challenge is about to start, so sign up and get cracking!!

Also, the olympic challenge is a good one to get ideas from.....

Basically, don't ever go far from MSE, and you will get loads of ideas over the next few days....weeks....months.....years...and your debt will be gone before you know it!!

    Welcome to all the newbies
  • Morning everyone. Welcome to everyone joining.

Well, I've started to pay back a friend and I've paid my tax bill, which wasn't as much as I'd included in my total, so I've amended my totals. Still not looking that impressive, but it's a start.

The good news is that I had a payrise; the bad news is that one of my credit cards has started to add interest again and I've no idea how much that's going to be. I'm still paying reduced payments through CCCS - what if my payment doesn't even cover the interest

Anyway, I allowed myself half an hour of being depressed about it, had a cup of tea and some chocolate biscuits, and now I'm even more determined to clear this debt as soon as possible.

    How's everyone else doing?

Aww Polly sorry to hear about your credit card dilemma, usually the case of one step forwards two steps back isn't it. Am sure with your determination you'll get it sorted.

Well i have been sent home from work with instructions not to come back till Monday, hate taking time off work, but work in a busy school which is both physically and mentally demanding, so know its the right thing to do. Gives me the opportunity to start looking at matched betting again i suppose.

Payday today which is fantastic, so nice to see some money for a change! Am off to go and pay everything that needs paying, update totals and start on the matched betting.

Well done lauradora on the win on the free bingo. I have played around eight different sites and haven't won a penny am getting fed up with it. However there are a few more to go so might give it a go in a minute.

    Everyones totals are looking great.

since i've stopped faffing around at home I have today managed to pay off another £6.65 onto my debts this morning!!! :D There's actually a lot to be said for volunteering!!

    My new totals;

    Loan £11542.85
    Forma £1217.68
    Overdraft £1475

    Total debt now £ 14235.53

    Which means I have paid off a total of £ 443.82:j :j :j :j

When I have the time to take to actually sit and look at all my figures and accounts and shift small amounts from here to there its amazing how every little but has added up! I never imagined I would have been able to make that much of a dint in things when i'm on benefits!!

and tomorrow when all my direct debits go out a big payment will have gone on my loan!

If I had any tips they would definitley be 'work in small amounts' because they all add up!!!

I'm here again next week so think I might do the same...i.e. try and transfer just a little over two or three days.

Keep going everyone we're all doing well!

Thanks sooo much polly for this thread it really has been an inspiration!:kisses3:

Hi and welcome to all newbies and well done to everyone. That's the worst month of the year out of the way and we are all getting totals going downward which is a great achievement as all bills and fuel and food have all increased...So well done us.
I have now made my final payment for the month ..my loan of £271.95..so february here we come!!!
