  • It’s been way over four weeks for me and the useless complaints department say it’s not their fault they are awaiting details from tonik but rest assured it’s coming to say in !!!!!! at so would be an understatement not for this but the whole fiasco failed promises they kept me with them based on a tarrif they noe say they can’t give me and have put me on one which is way higher and I’m waiting for my warm front grant if I switch now I will probably be too late to apply they also said they would not charge me exit fees now they say these are automatically applied the lies incompetence beggars belief. This was with emailing the ceo several times no one can say how long the tonik refund will take but if tonik don’t pay they will could be six mths a year she said. Absolutley fuming @ malchester have they honoured the deal they gave you ?

Is there anybody else struggling to get their credit forwarded from Tonik to ScottishPower? My final bill was produced 3 Nov 2020
I have emailed Tonik numerous times but they either don't reply or if they do it's just a pro forma to say it will be done after 4 weeks of a final bill being produced, which was over 5 weeks ago.
I'm now thinking of doing a Direct Debit Indemnity, which apparently can still be done if the company is in administration, for my credit.
That’s an idea have you spoken to your bank?
  • Well I've had my final bill (£98 in credit) - offer from SP for recompense and been told I can now switch (by the complaints department/exec!)

    Thanks goodness!
  • The really annoying thing now is - there's a decent tariff from SP that's probably my best choice!!!!!! I've asked if I can move to it.......not the best outcome tbh but I'm loathed now to go to a small provider like PFP energy/Avro who are the only other cheapest ones!
  • Oh wow @funkyfin2000 - great outcome!  Plus you're now experienced in what to do with SP if you have any issues going forward!  I told SP if they'd been more competitive they could have got a lot of us former Tonik customers to stay, to avoid any further hassle, but they were 8th most expensive for my area...
  • Yeah its getting there isn't it @Annieddiva
All the final bill is right at least and I guess if I can stay with them its going to be easier all round! Just need the exec office to update the tariff - and I'd like to make that tariff from the time of the switch!

I'll let you know how I get on!

  • Got an e-mail from SP that the transfer was now complete and I could login. As I already had a SP account years ago I had already logged in weeks ago. Went back today and still no sign of my £400 credit from Tonik! Just a message saying would I like to make an extra payment to cover the time between the account moving! Oh and the DD was going up as well! Charming!!
  • @fly-catchers - have you chased SP CEO?  My Tonik credit (also got email from SP) was applied to my account 1 week before I got the transfer complete email.

    Hi,
Had the following email from Tonik Admin.
"Thank you for your email. Tonik Energy Ltd is ceasing to trade. Ofgem, the energy regulator, has appointed ScottishPower as the new supplier for its customers.
As your account is in credit, ScottishPower will use this towards your future usage. All information will be with them by the end of next week. https://www.scottishpower.co.uk/solr/tonik-energy"
Just got it yesterday, Fri 11th, so if not sorted by the end of next week will be contacting my bank for DD Indemnity to get my last payment back.
Also see my bills from SP are available, extortionate is an understatement. I moved away 30 Nov thankfully but not quick enough.

I would double check that you haven't just got the OLD account which won't have any details of the move from Tonik. I'd guess you now have a new account with a new account number. I had a new account number when I went back to EDF after several years.
