SLLM (Single Lady Large Mortgage)

Good afternoon ladies. I am off today as I have the electrician to do the electrics I mentioned earlier. Since I have time on my hands, I have been sorting through some bags just to shred what I can and I found this tattered completion statement for my house purchase and thought it will be good to have it on this thread.Interesting how you have this build up with money really piling up in your account and then you need the bulk as deposit(10%) then the rest to complete and you are like wiped out. So paid £64k initially then had to send balance of £111690. Interesting how money changes hands! I also note that my solicitor was reasonably priced at £885! Stamp duty was a bit of an ouch moment!
Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)
Mortgage start date first week of July 2019,
Mortgage term 23yrs(end of June 2042🙇🏽♀️),Target is to pay it off in 10years(by 2030🥳).MFW#10 (2022/23 mfw#34)(2021 mfw#47)(2020 mfw#136)

Whilst I bought my house over 30 years ago, it cost less than a tenth of yours. But back then it would have taken me over 40 years just to earn enough for yours. My heating is done. Just coming back on Monday to check all the i's are dotted & the t's are crossed. Feeling warmer already. It is nice to be able to not go for a cheap one. Pity about the hair appointment I had to cancel, not so sorry about the hygenist! But I got my priorities right. I do not like being cold. He's even stopped a draft from where a pipe came through the wall - without being asked.2

@badmemory Great news on your boiler.
@Sistergold You've achieved so much so quickly. Your solicitor's costs were also very reasonable!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

@sistergold - I love this! Amazing low fees for legals but just shows how far you have come too in your journey. The figures are scary but all kudos to you

So ladies, dare I ask but has anyone put up their trees and decs yet?
Its just dawned on me we need to clear out the space in the living room before we can even think about getting up the tree. I have a fake 7ft one which was quite pricey at the time but is quite real looking. The kids are with dad this weekend so I need to get ready for tree when they are not here. I'm too busy during the week to do it - so thats on the hit list this weekend.2026 financial goals & challenges!

The decorations are not up here at home, but I do decorate a tree for the christmas tree festival in town every year. I did decorate that this weekend just gone. While in the loft I also got the advent calendars down ready to fill this weekend. Very behind compared to normal but I'm sure it will all get done ready for the big day
