So let's all keep our fingers crossed that the WD40 spray makes this boiler last until 16th December!
Keeping my fingers crossed for you that the boiler does not pack up before then!
Yes a big house and being in London makes everything really expensive! The only time it makes sense is when I can do something for myself!

OH! 🥶 16th December is way to go in winter without a boiler! Can they not treat it as an emergency and come sooner?

Tomorrow would you believe!  He said he would try to shuffle the jobs he had but I never thought he would be doing it tomorrow.  I am not going to think about whether me saying cash had anything to do with it.  I will be so glad to get rid of this old boiler.  It was condemned when only a year old & I needed all new gas pipes in the house, as for the guy who fitted it, well I wouldn't allow him over the threshhold, gas safe my eye.  Gas safe then just meant you can afford to buy it, I don't know if it is any better now but I hope so for everybodies sake.

Luckily my "friend" that I am holding a couple of k for is happy for me to use that money to pay (he owes me half of what I hold anyway).  I have a hair appointment tomorrow pm so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed, at my age you do not want the colour to grow out!

Wow @badmemory, you are the luckiest girl I know! Yes cash can move mountains if said at the right time! At least you don’t have to worry about the boiler after this!
Lucky you had the money to hand! Xx

I am so lucky.  I wouldn't normally have anything like this much cash & only do because my friend is moving house & is having lots of people in & out, so I am holding it for him.  He has given me permission in case anyone is wondering.  So fingers crossed it all goes to plan tomorrow - I'll be back!
