Diary update
I am trying to keep up with updates so that I can keep track of the progress. Mortgage went out for May. Also the monthly mortgage OP of £109. The OP is helping to bring down the mortgage by over a £1000 every month. This is giving me a mental boost that I am making progress as the numbers on the balance gives a visual of going down by 1 whereas before it looked like it is “staying the same” for 2 months.
New mortgage balancethe mortgage went down by £1088
Building works(extensions) are progressing well. The whole process has been emotionally and financially draining but we are not even there yet. I have had to sell some stocks and shares to add to the building funds. Yesterday I had to close early with penalty one stocks and shares ISA aswell. I just felt the penalty was a smaller price to pay than slow down the build. I will be able to payback the ISA money back without losing my tax benefits if I do it with this financial year. I will see how money going after the build so I can put back the “borrowed” ISA funds. As for the stokes and shares I will work on that after.
I hope everyone is enjoying the sunny hot weather? I am happy it has been dry as this enabled the builders to work on the roof. I am hoping that today the skylights will be placed in position. They will then test the roof for any leaks or allow the rain to test for leaks before they fix them permanently into position. When this is done this will be one more milestone crossed.
The builder had a quote for windows and doors which is costing double of what he planned it to be. He says the window person he normally works with is away on family matters so can not supply the windows. Will see how we sort that out as I would have expected home to get few quotes rather than rely on one person. Still I am just anxious to get it all finished.
As I am getting older I just want some conveniences like my own bathroom. Currently my bedroom is at the back and family bathroom is at the front. This means if I wake up to use bathroom during the night I am already awake by the time I come back. This is affecting my sleep and am not getting enough sleep most nights. So one thing I am really looking forward to is my bedroom now being an en-suite.Have a great weekend! 🌺
