@LadyWithAPlan I tried YNAB but it made my head hurt 😂 I can see how it could be helpful though. I think if it could link to my bank account it might be but it just seemed like an extra job I have zero energy for. I think just stopping and thinking before spending is my most successful method
Whatever works for you Friday and SisterGold  !!. It has really cut my spending and increased my saving so I am now one of those crazy YNAB devotees I used to think were weird (we probably are)

YNAB  does link to my bank accts but yes its a next level of focus. I found once it was up and running, it takes 2 mins a day and maybe 30 mins once a month on the end of a month.

    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

End of another year. Just an update
Oh how time flies! Since it’s the end of the year thought it will be nice to just take note of the mortgage balance on the last day of 2024.

I also hope you all had a wonderful, merry Christmas! This is me wishing you a prosperous and a happy new year!
I pray that we will all be happy in our homes in 2025. I pray that we will all have the ability to massively pay down our mortgages.
Oh and ofcause I pray that we will have good health! 🌺🥰

@Sistergold Well done and happy new year! I followed you religiously during lock down and pop back in every now and again to see how you're getting on. You're crushing it!

As I can't celebrate with anyone else IRL without judgement, I just want to do a little virtual jig. I paid off my mortgage today! A bit anti-climatic, but I'll be sleeping well tonight.

    Thanks ladies!

My ex abruptly left with massive debt and ended up going through an acrimonious divorce in 2020. At one point I didn't know how I could pick myself up, let alone take on a relatively big mortgage on a single income. Thank goodness I fixed the mortgage for 5 years at 1.68%, it's now 8.24% on the Halifax SVR.  :open_mouth:
