The beginnings of the beautiful threes!Good morning ladiesJust a mortgage update!
mortgage went out yesterday! Balance went down to £399###! It was just nice to see the figures and have a peep at what 3s look like. I know it will go back up to 4s balance but hey I will just enjoy seeing this balance for now before they add the interest. June payment will now firmly establish my £300Ks balance. On another note, cooker was delivered as promised. Hoping to arrange with electrician to run some hard wiring for the new cooker as all gas for now. Also new electrics for extraction hood. Also need few more plugs added in the house in general.Car was delivered in the afternoon drove back to work after, it is a very nice and smooth drive! Thank God I upgraded! Will see how it goes from now on. Will need to get a company to install a charging station. Might install two as the direction is electrical and to accommodate two cars being able to charge at once.Have a wonderful day ladies 🥰Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

Good afternoon ladies
Hope you are having as wonderful a weekend as I am? It’s really nice and sunny this side of London. We are going to have bbq later today hoping it will Be cooler at which we can have it close to the lounge or if still hot it will be at the bottom of the garden where there is some trees for some shade.Well the issue of the kitchen is now like a saga where I have not yet found anyone willing to commit to doing the work. Was almost giving up but have decided to soldier on with the search and hoping I will find someone willing to take up the challenge. I called someone last week and have sent him a drawing after a chat and he is again sounding promising. I have also decided I will ask him to make one cabinet at a time so that he does not get scared by the whole job. One cabinet will also help me see if he understood the brief and also give me a chance to make adjustments to the works. One cabinet will also help me asses the quality of the work. Will see.
So below is the disappointing response I got from one fabricator. Remember this is for a small kitchen of 3.8m x 3.7m at most. The said units are a handful after taking away space for American fridge freezer and dishwasher, bin space plus two doorways. So tomorrow the new/potential fabricator will come to my house and we will discus finer details of the one cabinet I will ask him to make. I have also broken it down more and simplified the design further to see if I can get it done without scarring anyone off. Once we can get one down and fine tune the prototype then we are good to go. I have been wanting this kitchen for so long I hope someone can make it a reality! I need a dreamer like me but I don’t think it’s worth £60k!Love you all you lovely ladies! 🥰Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

Good morning ladies
Hope you are all keeping well? Have a lot going on on my side some planned and some being life throwing curve balls. So as you know I am hard at work trying to tie in things together to get kitchen done. Am still hopeful but not yet there. I hope to continue pushing for it although it’s looking impossible and the easier option would probably be getting a wooden kitchen done. Last night I bought a 3-in-1 microwave 🤷♀️, apparently it’s 👇🏾I am still trying to get all electricals in even though I am not sure when/if the kitchen units can be done. This is so that I can have the units made to accommodate the right appliance size. I am still trying to find the right pullout kitchen tap but it’s proving harder to choose. While all the kitchen preps are going on I just found on Monday that the garage is now leaking massively in many places! I have known that there are some slight leaks but because I have been thinking of extending I was hoping it can hold on for now. 😏. Well I have decided to have the roof replaced as it can no longer wait. Managed to get 4 quotes which were all gravitating towards £3k for a 6m x 4m flat garage roof? I had one quote though for £1475? None of the roofers are through a recommendation just from check a trade and rated people. Had a bad experience with rated people before and getting people online is generally tricky but I have no option right now. The lowest quote we’re also saying they can do it pretty quickly 🤷♀️, they are from check a trade. I decided to take a risk, go with the lowest quote and they are replacing roof today. I have to pay half down this morning on taking down old roof and the last half on completion. It’s all very risky but either way I just take it that whatever they do it should be better than what is there now. Will report back how it goes as the company have mixed reviews.Children are now in half term as today is insert day. Will also be at home as the roofers will be working today.Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

Fingers crossed that it all goes well. You can then hopefully take as much time as you like before extending as it will no longer be a race between want and need over the roof. Finding builders really is a pain. And once you have the builder you need to fingers crossed they complete the job well. I am also home today babysitting the builder - hopefully for the last time in this lot of improvements.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Am at home and the roof replacement has gone out of hand. The roofer has found that there was compressed straw system under the felt. So the beams are 5cm lower than planned for so ofcause he is hyping up the job that it’s more work than he planned which it is and so he is now needing to charge more as it’s a different job than he quoted for! So the job will now cost £2600 instead of £1475! I don’t even know if the job will even be done? He turned up on his own apparently the other guy had a doctors appointment. I need to pay £1100 today and the rest tomorrow. Right now I am not sure if I just called in a rogue builder? Will I just pay the £1100 and then I am left with no roof? They were to complete roof today but as there is more work it will now take two days.Well I will be updating you.Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)
