Void football season & S75

I think the OP is going down the road of if the whole season is voided, then all the matches he attended were meaningless and he wants a refund for the LOT.gjpowen said:This is what my team (Arsenal) are doing:In relation to the current 2019/20 season, tickets held for postponed matches will be valid once these matches are re-arranged. Along with the Premier League, we are fully committed to concluding season 2019/20 as soon as it is safe to do so.
If any matches are re-arranged with fans not in the stadium or any matches are cancelled entirely, those that have bought tickets for these games, whether as part of a season ticket or for an individual match, will be offered a credit for next season or a refund. Further details will be shared at the appropriate time.My season ticket for 2020/21 was due for payment in early April, and they have also indefinitely extended the payment due date - which is quite helpful as it’s not cheap and means I can keep hold of the money for a bit longer.

Quite right get your contract out and go through it.eskbanker said:
Section 75 claims only apply if there's breach of contract or misrepresentation, so it's not as simple as not providing 'what you asked for', there has to be reference to the terms of the contract....2e0arr said:If a football club accept credit cards for payment then they have to abide by rules.
If they do not provide what you asked for then you are entitled to a refund. If they don't pay you what you want or go bust then your credit card company is a guilty defendant and responsible for your loss and any consequential loss. Make your claim now

I hope he is going for compensation and his credit card Company will be the first referee and or the Financial Ombudsman will be the judge with VAR or not. Looking at the arsenal season ticket info on the web it tells you how many matches it includes.bradders1983 said:

Does it make provision for those matches being rendered meaningless with a voiding of competitions?2e0arr said:

No idea but cant you smell money or a refund here ? if they dont refund something to ticket buyers satisfaction, then off to CC company for compo if still no refund off to the FO at no cost to ticket holderwin or lose but case fee about £550 to CC company. The ticket buyer has nothing to lose and some sort of refund and or gesture of goodwill to gain defo smell money here LOLOLbradders1983 said:

They may get it to begin with but I suspect the football clubs would dispute it and pull it back.
Also anyone who does try it may end up on a club blacklist.1 -
Simple terms NO.ZeroSum said:If say the football league does decide to declare season null & void like the Dutch, would section 75 cover a refund?
Given that I've paid for 23 league games but only received 19 friendlies
As you have had what you paid for. A ticket to watch football. Fact that they could make the league null & void is nothing to do with the season ticket price.
Just think how Liverpool fans will be feeling if they do. 🤦♂️

I don't think that argument holds water as expressed - if it did then every card company would be saying to disappointed airline passengers that they'd received the ticket they paid for even if the flight was cancelled! Not that I'm saying that season ticket holders should expect to make successful claims, but I'd expect this to be countered via the Ts & Cs of the contract rather than a simple binary test of ticket receipt....born_again said:

eskbanker.
Badly worded on my part.😒
I should have said that they have paid for a season ticket to watch football. Which they have done, watch football at the ground. It is not about paying for the ticket (fully see what you are saying on that point) it was about the fact that the season was voided, This has nothing to do with the season ticket, which is just about watching your team play football.
It is not like they bought the season ticket and watched no matches. (as per your airline comment)
They usually say something along the lines of entry to all League matches at your seat, and often priority for cup match tickets.Life in the slow lane1 -
There's a lot of interesting discussion in the thread, but a lot of it isn't relevant to making a S75 claim.
To make a successful s75 claim, you would need to:- Read your season ticket contract terms and conditions
- See which terms and conditions have been breached by the club (if any)
- Decide the appropriate damages to claim for as a result of any breach (probably damages for "loss of bargain")
