If say the football league does decide to declare season null & void like the Dutch, would section 75 cover a refund?
Given that I've paid for 23 league games but only received 19 friendlies

Wouldnt you be better off seeing what your football club announce first regarding refunds or reduced prices next season?
In any case I suspect any football club would reject any claim, plenty will be on the brink as it is without fans trying to get money back via credit cards.0 -
That's why I was thinking more credit card as I suspect the financial problems clubs will be facing they won't be able to afford anything & need the money more than the banksbradders1983 said:Wouldnt you be better off seeing what your football club announce first regarding refunds or reduced prices next season?

You do realise who the credit card company will take the money from to pay you, dont you?4

How does that work given that they had the money over a year ago? How do they take it back? Plus if the CC is joint liable would they have to also cough up?bradders1983 said:You do realise who the credit card company will take the money from to pay you, dont you?0 -
If a merchant is still trading the CC company take it from their merchant account..however the merchant can dispute it and the CC company can then take it back off your card.ZeroSum said:

So i know this is all hypophetical anyway but if a void season did happen you would need to engage with the football club about an acceptable solution first.
You may also wish to review the terms and conditions of your season ticket in case any of this is covered. They may have whacked a force majure clause in there.

If you bought a match ticket, I'd say there's a reasonable chance (the event didn't go ahead as planned). A season ticket seems a lot more complicated, you also received most of it - even if the FA/EFL etc. void it and deem it to be effectively friendlies, you've still seen c. 20 x 90 minutes so should pay for it.
I do think the FA should be on the hook for any refunds/expenses across the whole pyramid - certainly non-league, where they very rashly made the decision - but that won't happen. As Bradders says, your club highly likely spent the money, but it'll be withheld against future income so ultimately the club will still lose out if you're successful.
If it's a big club I can see the argument for doing it - a lot of them are run appallingly, and it likely won't make an impact - but if it's a relatively small club, morally it won't look good for you to do it. Admittedly it's not great for them to charge for the remaining few games, but I'm sure clubs will come to an arrangement (credits over next X seasons so they don't take the hit at once, a 'free' food/drink item for X matches etc.)
My club (lower down) are just asking people to treat match/season tickets as a "donation" - they can't afford to give out freebies/rebates and if they got even 10% in successful chargeback claims, it'd probably push them under. I appreciate some people have no income, but a lot of people are trying it on and claiming whatever they can (payment holidays, interest free periods, refunds etc)1 -
If a football club accept credit cards for payment then they have to abide by rules.
If they do not provide what you asked for then you are entitled to a refund. If they don't pay you what you want or go bust then your credit card company is a guilty defendant and responsible for your loss and any consequential loss. Make your claim now0 -
Section 75 claims only apply if there's breach of contract or misrepresentation, so it's not as simple as not providing 'what you asked for', there has to be reference to the terms of the contract....2e0arr said:If a football club accept credit cards for payment then they have to abide by rules.

Behave, the season hasnt been voided yet and he hasnt seen how the club would react even if it has!2e0arr said:If a football club accept credit cards for payment then they have to abide by rules.

This is what my team (Arsenal) are doing:In relation to the current 2019/20 season, tickets held for postponed matches will be valid once these matches are re-arranged. Along with the Premier League, we are fully committed to concluding season 2019/20 as soon as it is safe to do so.
If any matches are re-arranged with fans not in the stadium or any matches are cancelled entirely, those that have bought tickets for these games, whether as part of a season ticket or for an individual match, will be offered a credit for next season or a refund. Further details will be shared at the appropriate time.My season ticket for 2020/21 was due for payment in early April, and they have also indefinitely extended the payment due date - which is quite helpful as it’s not cheap and means I can keep hold of the money for a bit longer.
