Trace Letter - Is it too late to ask the landowner

Each week I park at Redbridge Sports Centre as I coach my local kids football team. Quite often their payment system fails and I need to tell a staff member who just writes down my number plate and sorts it out. I recently got a letter from PCL with a charge but ignored it as I thought this was the best action (I now know better). I thought it must be a mistake and since this Corona virus, I haven't been back to the sports centre and just forgot about it. I now have a letter from Trace. Shall I ignore it, appeal to them or call Redbridge on Monday?

just goes to show that the devil makes work for idle hands

they have nothing better to do than chase old invoices like your two

it is NEVER too late to complain to a landowner and is stage 1 in the newbies thread, regardless of time elapsed, its also the best way to get rid of a pcn, ie:- a landowner cancellation , get it done asap

its never a good idea to IGNORE

use the blue text template and send in a late appeal as keeper to PCL

no blabbing about who was driving

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully, when life gets back to normal, it will become impossible for those scammers who are left to continue their vile trade, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

Never too late to complain...have you not seen the SUCCESSFUL COMPLAINTS thread linked in the NEWBIES sticky thread that shows landowner complaints working years after a parking event?

If you don't get this cancelled by the landowner you will get a Gladstones (laughably badly evidenced) court claim later this year to defend, so this is by far the easiest route to cancellation.

Ignore TRACE, who are just a debt collector, as long as they haven't traced you to a new address and there is still an old address held by the parking firm.  That always needs a response to erase the old address, but it doesn't sound like that happened to you.

This has now gotten to a court letter. The land owner is only just back working but fear it is too late. I put in what now seems to be a shoddy defence

    What??
It is nearly twelve months since your last post!!

What does "This has now gotten to a court letter" actually mean?
    What is 'a court letter'?
Have you now received a County Court Claim Form, or have you now received something else?

You last sentence seems to be saying that you have filed a Defence.
Have you actually filed a Defence with the County Court Business Centre?
If so, please show us exactly what you filed.
When did you file your Defence?

There are people here who really want to help you but are hampered by the severe lack of understandable comment.

Why didn't you just come back sooner and use the template defence, top of the forum?  Why go off piste and write a weak defence?

Hi guys. sorry for the previous confusion on this. I filed a shoddy defence with BW legal and they have written back. I only just saw the letter dated 6th October giving me 21 days to respond, either payment in full, withdraw my defence or a mediation agreement.
This isnt a court letter. Should I ignore?

You don't file defences with BW Legal (although you do serve it on them) but with the CCBC.  Is that what you mean?  Did you receive a court claim form (N1) from CCBC?  If so what is the issue date of it, did you do the AoS and send the defence using the CCBCAQ@Justice.gov.uk address.  What does your status on MCOL now say?  Have you received a DQ (N180) form?
