Shame about the STS coxy.  That can happen with lots of exercise but it will come right in the end. Try not to be disheartened.

If you use wine in your cooking regularly, I'd thoroughly recommend Tesco wine stock pots.  They're syn free. I've been using the red one in my beef bourguignon for ages and DH doesn't even realise. I add a white one to my Bolognese sauce too.

Welcome Emz. Not sure if you're going to a Zoom group but just ask if there's anything we can help with.

I'm going to do a fair bit of basic batch cooking this week. Last night I used the last of the pilau rice and today used up the last portions of red cabbage, chilli and swede & carrot mash. I've got all the ingredients in. Today I've prepped the red cabbage (adapted Delia's recipe) and it'll go in the oven after dinner.

    Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit (F), fried eggs (P0, mushrooms (S), HEB toast, HEA milk
    L- JP (F), veggie chill (P,S), cottage cheese (P), beetroot (S)
D- braised lamb shanks (P), SW roast potatoes (F), cabbage, kale, swede & carrot mash, red cabbage, cauli and broccoli
Syns- HP sauce 1, weekend wine

I always do my red cabbage in the slow cooker, just have to prep the cabbage & onions, chuck in the SC add the liquids and leave it to cook away all day or even overnight!  I find it makes a big SC full which only just fits in.  I also add in a couple of sliced red apples but because of the number of portions it makes I don't bother synning it as it's negligible in each portion.

I'm a big fan of the red and white wine stockpots too!  I generally use the red ones whenever I use beef or lamb;  don't use the white wine ones quite as much but always use when I make a risotto (which isn't very often as it takes quite a long time and you have to keep adding the stock bit by bit).  Keep meaning to try a baked one but not got round to it yet!

Have used 12 syns so far today so won't be drinking this evening although may have a Calvados just before bed which will take me up to the 15 syns for today.

Have just put my dried chickpeas into soak ready to make falafels for lunch tomorrow.  There will be too many to have in a pitta with salad so the extra ones can go into a tin for snacks!  win, win!

    Hi all,
Thanks for your support. You are all right in that a STS is better than a gain. Just so annoying when I’ve been so on plan this week!
The haddock and prawn recipe used 2 tbsp of white wine so I will definitely look in Tesco for those wine cubes - sounds great. Also used 400ml of semi skimmed milk between 5 of us and 40g breadcrumbs with 25g of cheese between us. Have only had 3 teas today so counting the milk and cheese as HEA x 2 and the breadcrumbs as HEB.  Had broccoli and sugar snap peas with it. It was tasty and the family liked it, so one to repeat I think.
    Have a good evening all,
    Coxy xx

Thanks denise. I've never tried doing the braised red cabbage in the SC. I must give it a try. I add apples and sweetener too but don't syn them. I get so many portions from the amount I make that the syns would be negligible. Each portion is only a couple of tablespoons each as it's quite spicy and any more would overpower the rest of the meal.

    I feel your pain coxy!
I've done loads of exercise this week and been on plan, so I'm hoping it is TOTM water retention. So frustrating!

Salmon with green beans, wholemeal rice
    Pineapple

    Morning
I wrote a big post last night and lost it!
Thank you for welcoming me and calling me emz is fine! Yesterday i had 7 syns - 2 for milk as ended up having heax with dinner and the milk was only in 4 cups of tea so massively overestimated, 2 for sugar in the morning and 3 for a pink gin (i think its either 3 or 4 syns but i only had 1 anyway) i added quite a lot of speed to my dinner, peppers mushrooms and 1/3 plate of salad too so i did quite well!
Bubbs that chicken looks amazing i am going to try it next week, could i also have the recipe for the scotch eggs they looks lovely...were they hard to make i am not the biggest culinary expert about!
I think my meal plan for today
    B. Ski yoghurt with strawberries and banana, an apple after for speed
    L. Cheese on toast with an orange
Snacks.carrot sticks they are my new favourite
    D. Meatballs, pasta and pasta sauce (i use a jar for the sauce as tbh any of the ones i have made hasnt been nice and i use the smallest amount so 3 syns as its about 1/4 of the jar) will load it up with mushrooms and peppers and have a small side salad with it for extra speed!
Weigh in today as i started last Monday hoping for a loss but we shall see after my bad Friday...i shall report back!

STS happens when you least expect it Orange; but just trust the plan and it'll catch up next week with a bigger loss.

Emz persevere with making your own tomato sauce, you'll get used to it!  The problem with the jarred sauces (apart from the Syns) is that they are loaded with sugar and chemicals which you don't need!  When you make your own sauces don't forget to add some sweetener as tinned tomatoes can be a bit sharp and acidic.  Just think that 1/4 jar of sauce could be used for another glass of gin, LOL!  You can also pep up the tomato sauce with various herbs and spices.

    Today's plan:

    B - kedgeree - F; P; S
    L - HM falafels, salad in pitta - HEB; P; S
    D - Egg, mushrooms, chips & beans - P; S; F

    HEA - milk
    HEB - pitta
Syns - none planned but will find something!

    Denise
