We used to buy these in France denise.
Perfect for a quick, easy meal with some green beans when we'd just arrived at a rented property. Travelling like that seems so far away now. We should have been excited just about now ready for our sunshine holiday in Turkey through most of June and into July. I can't say the relaxation measures so far have made much difference to us. Just meeting one other person is very restrictive and I really CBA to queue to go into a shop for non essential items, it's bad enough queuing for food.
Orange, they do excellent cornichons in Lidl. Large jars for less than £2. At the moment I'm eating up stocks of vacuum packed beetroot that Aldi had on Super 6. Otherwise I buy large jars of beetroot and pickled cabbage from Home Bargains. I don't use either shop very often so I stock up whenever I go there. Slimming World really doesn't have to be expensive.
My corned beef hash today is 5 for the whole thing (3 for meat and 2 for horseradish). I'm allowing for the bigger portion as some will be for my lunch tomorrow. It's only a 200g tin of corned beef (Princes Reduced fat) but it'll be enough by the time I've upped the Speed from the original recipe.
https://theenglishkitchen.blogspot.com/2010/09/baked-corned-beef-hash.html
The recipe has just an onion and red pepper with the potatoes but I'll be adding mushrooms, carrots, courgettes and leeks, topping it off with tomatoes and then serving more Speed on the side!
Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit, baked beans (F), fried egg, bacon (P), HEB toast, HEA milk
L- ham (P), fried veg, beetroot, pickled cabbage (S)
D- corned beef hash (P,S,F) with cabbage, broccoli, cabbage (S)
Syns- hash 3

That's not the same tin I had but similar! I put the nutritional info through the estimator and it came up as 4 Syns for the whole tin which I didn't think was too bad. It was quite nice too and had quite a bit of meat in it which I was surprised about, also quite a bit of gravy though so I ended up synning a slice of bread for 3 syns so that's 5 syns for today which is fine. Leaves me with 8 for tomorrow which should be plenty as don't think I need any for meals so may treat myself to a couple of rum and ginger beers! Just had a ginger beer this afternoon whilst sitting in the garden.

Thanks everyone I have some cornichons form lidl which I had today for lunch!
Disorganised today which means I failed to plan and consequently have had too many syns.
On the plus side I've done my 10 thousand steps and resisted ice cream.
I will do better tomorrow!2 -

Bubbs - I love the way you dress the plate. Looks so good mmmmDiet cola chicken for tea and sardines in tomato sauce with salad for lunch. I don’t think I’ve had sardines for at least a decade. Realised why today...only one more can to get through
Potatoes were from last nights bbq and had a bit of butter on them, so some syns there. So stuffed and really warm still so nothing more than a cup of tea for me today.Have a good evening all.Coxy xxCross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings2 -
Did you have enough to eat Coxy? I would still have been hungry with that dinner!

Hello all, I just thought I'd pop in and say hello. :waves: I've been lurking for a while and loving the inspiration.
I've done well on SW before, pre kids, and have 6st to lose. I couldn't really afford to go to the meetings, so I was cheeky and joined up just to get the books and a couple of recipe books last year, but didn't really have the motivation.
Then Covid came along and with all the stats about obesity, it was the push I needed to realise I really needed to do something about it. So I started properly on the first day of lockdown and have lost 32lb so far, so I'm really pleased! I've being walking a couple of hours a day and have started to do small YouTube workouts.
I do have a couple of questions, one of which has been intriguing me. I like a grapefruit for breakfast, but notice it has NAS next to it on this thread - what does that mean?
And today, my 12 year old made some lovely pulled pork from the magazine. The problem was, we really couldn't trim all the fat off, so it wasn't as lean as it should have been. I know I need to syn it, but can't work out how to? Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction at all? Pretty please?
I've got plenty of syns spare as I tend to save them for weekend wine, but I still need to be careful. He also made homemade rolls and normally I'd refuse, but didn't want to upset him so had half. I'm thinking if I count 6-8 syns?
I'll continue lurking - I check in everyday to see what everyone has been up to. :-)

Welcome CTWD (hope you don't mind the abbreviation but your name is very long!)! Well done on the loss so far. That's a great loss in such a short time.
NAS next to the grapefruit is No Added Sugar, as in a drink! nothing more sinister. With regard to the fat on the pork as long as as much fat as possible had been removed then I personally wouldn't syn it, although if you think there was quite a bit then perhaps syn it as 5 or 6.
When you say homemade rolls do you mean rolls made from scratch? If so then you will need to syn each element and then divide by the number of rolls made. If you mean a bought one then a standard roll is 9 syns so half would be 4.5.
A lot of us save our syns for weekends so you're not alone!
Please feel free to join us properly rather than just lurking, as previously said, you are welcome. Ask as many questions as you like - there is usually someone around who will be able to answer queries.

Ahh - No Added Sugar! That's been bugging me for weeks! :-) I just like the fruit, but couldn't get any in Tesco today :-(
There was quite a lot of fat, but so hard to cut off so I definitely need to syn. Yes, he made the rolls from scratch. I've not eaten bread for weeks and feel quite bloated now. I'll try to work out what he used.
Yes, it's a bit loss in a short time, but slowing down to 2lb per week now. My next goal is still 10lb away to take me to my second 10%, and then I'm aiming to get out of the obese, into merely overweight. Many, many years since I've seen that!
