Rice 'n' peas is definitely kidney beans - that's what the Jamaicans use.  Have to say the stew was lovely with the ox cheek.  Must try and get some more at some time and get it into the freezer especially as it's stew weather.  I use the Pinch of Nom Carribean jerk beef stew recipe but I add more jerk seasoning when it's cooking in addition to what is in the marinade as we find it a bit bland with just that amount in it.  I used far less meat that the recipe too and upped the veg - used a bag of frozen casserole mix plus some extra carrots, onions, garlic, celery & a pepper.  It was far better than the first time I made it.

I'm like you maman one glass of wine is never enough!  Treated ourselves some Calvados yesterday when we did our final shop and had a small glass, it was as good if not better than some we've had when we've been in France!  I' another who has been trying to use up stuff from the freezer.  Couldn't find the savoury mince I wanted to get out for dinner tomorrow so have got out some of the faggots from last week.  It's great having choices of ready meals in the freezer!

Glad you found a Calvados to your liking denise. It could be some time before you can buy any in France. ☹️

1lb of this week so 1lb shy of my 1/2 stone 🙄. I'm a little disappointed but it's my TOM so I guess I should appreciate a loss as I normally gain a couple of pounds on those weeks.
    :AWhatever it is - I didn't do it!:A

Well done Jax.  As we always say a loss is a loss!  I'll be over the moon if I actually lose something this week!  My body seems to have gone into "stand still" mode!  I've had just half pound loss over the last 6-8 weeks - it's WI day again tomorrow but as I'm at target I'm still not sure whether I'm going to input it on the website or whether I'm going to leave it until sometime in January!

Shame about the half stone jax but it's a loss!! To get that is all progress. IIRC you won't be having a long Christmas break so you'll soon lose more soon, especially as you're probably retaining water this week so not a true picture. Well done. 😊
I tidied up my freezers and redid the inventory. I'm now batch cooking some brown rice as I used the last microwave bag last night. It'll be useful if we have curry over Christmas. 🤔😉
