Yuk!  Pickled beetroot shouldn't go mouldy - with the amount of vinegar in it I'm surprised any mould could survive in it anyway!  I don't think that's the shop's fault to be honest bubbs it means it wasn't sealed and sterilised properly in the first place.  I never have a problem with it even after it's been opened and I just keep it in the cupboard not the fridge.

Same here. It's preserved in vinegar so doesn't need to be in the fridge. I get through jars quite quickly anyway so never had a problem.

Watching the news, Kent seems in gridlock, hope you're not affected. ☹️

Teir 3 here....feels like we’ve been in it forever. Dd, where we’d planned to visit for a couple of nights is in tier 4....it’s too far to visit just for the day. We are all gutted....my eldest gdd is very upset about it all - she’s just 7. A while ago dd asked her what her favourite part of Christmas was.....she said  ‘seeing all her family’ I’ve got all the presents here so I had to order a next day delivery present for the gks so at least they’ve got a bit of something from us. I was wary of posting what I’ve got here as dd said the local postal service has so many staff off it has said it can’t guarantee delivery so I’m presuming other delivery services could well be in the same boat. Dd had food for us all delivered yesterday- it was too late to change the delivery so they’ll be eating it forever. Luckily I’d bought an emergency turkey but now got to go shopping for everything else. I’ve just felt so down....I’d been working on getting myself fit after the surgery for the visit.....So I busied myself making mince pies yesterday for dh to take into work.....then I set to eating them 😳 I’ve got to admit from the virus point of view it makes sense but the mental health point of view it’s worrying for a lot of people. We will have a get together with presents and nice food when the time is right....might even drag the tree out again.....
The mouldy beetroot doesn’t sound good but I too suspect it’s more to do with the manufacturer than the shop.
I like the fruit on the Christmas cake too 👍

No, it's not an area near us.  We're about 8 miles from where we can even get onto the M20 which is probably about 40 minutes from where Operation Stack operates.  Even when we go to the ferry we use the A2 which will probably be gridlocked too later if it isn't already, although lorries aren't supposed to use it when Operation Stack is in force.

Can't really blame the French shutting their borders if I'm honest.  Just wish we'd done it when this all started at the beginning of the year!

It's really wet and windy here this morning.  DH opened the blinds and said I'm glad we didn't book to play golf this morning!!!

    Today's plan:

    B - overnight oats - HEB; S; F
L - creamy leek and barley soup (change of plan was going to be leek and potato!) - S; F; 1.5
    D - cauliflower cheese, chips - HEA2; S; F; 4

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    HEB - porridge
Syns - 50ml light coconut milk 1.5; 1/2 pack cheese sauce mix 4

Don't know if anyone else uses cheese sauce mixes but if you the syns on the Colmans ones have doubled recently and now 16 (4 cheese one is 17!) so best to stick with the Schwartz ones as they are still 7.5 per pack.  I know the pack is supposed to serve 4 but quite honestly there isn't enough sauce for that so we have half each!  I'd have to use 2 packs if I was still cooking for 4!

  • Morning all!  Sorry to hear about your cancelled plans milann - there were quite a few people I spotted in the supermarkets yesterday who were trying to pick up Christmas food they hadn't planned on having to get.

Eeek about the mouldy beetroot bubbs, agree that it isn't the shop's fault but I've had lots of issues with Lidl fresh stuff being mouldy, especially the berries, that I just stopped shopping there.  Much prefer Aldi as I've never had a problem with their stuff.

That's ridiculous denise re: the colman's sauces, bet they haven't changed the recipe that much

Happy to report a 2.5lb loss this week - not sure if that's going to be replicated next Monday but I'm trying to be sensible and continuing with exercising where I can   Braved M&S yesterday to get a sticky toffee pudding trifle for DH - it's weighs over a kilo and he's already eaten half of it!  I seem to have taken the Tier 4 news to heart and now have a well stocked stash of chocolates and cheese...keep telling DH we don't have to eat it all at once so should still have some left by my birthday in March if he doesn't go crazy.  No breakfast again this morning other than a latte as wasn't too hungry, mushroom soup for lunch today with a slice of bread and dinner tonight is fake nandos with chips, salad and HM coleslaw.

Hope everyone has a good day and stays safe.

Sorry to hear your plans are cancelled milann. It's tough when you were so looking forward to it. It's easy to say in hindsight but I don't think they ever should have raised hopes. Up until last Wednesday the government were jeering at anyone who suggested it was wrong.

That's an excellent loss ruby. Well done! 😀

I'm still telling myself that it's not Christmas yet, which was my consultant's advice. So, although I have the chocolates in I haven't opened any. I haven't bought the crisps and cheeses yet but they'll be harder to resist. I'm going to give it my best shot until Thursday though.

That's a Green day for you denise, I think. 🤔 You could have bread with your soup😉.  I think one of the best changes (probably the only one) with SW has been the extra HEA. I still don't use it every day but I have really enjoyed the cheesy garlic mushrooms and the creamy cabbage without having to syn them. Green days aren't such a bonus since then.

That's crazy about doubling the syns in the cheese sauce mix. You'd better buy in a few packs of the Schwartz while you can.

I've got heaps of syns left,  close to 50! I really don't want to use them just for the sake of it though so probably won't get used. I'm so used to eating very low syn meals and I don't want to change my meal plan now as I'm running down the fridge.

    Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit, baked beans (F), HEB toast, fried egg, bacon (P), HEA milk
L- cold meat (P), fried veg and pickles (S)
D- baked salmon (P), sweet potato wedges (F), cauli steak, broccoli, mange tout, tomato, mushrooms (S)
    Syns- 0??

Im in tier 3 and have been for ages, i think after the 28th we are all doomed regardless of what tier we are in but we shall see!

I was bored yesterday and I feel like I ate a bit – I’m def learning about my eating habits! Anyway by last night I felt bloated. I’m just not used to bread etc. I had already booked a xmas tray with my colleagues today so couldn’t back out but I have decided tonight will be something low carb but plenty of speed and most importantly plenty of fluids. Then back on plan tomorrow. Im going to be careful what I eat minus the cheese board over Christmas, and compensate with plenty of walks. Id like to at least maintain over the festive period. I lost a ¾ of a pound at the weekend

I know the cheese sauce thing is ridiculous.  I spotted it a while ago and bought a few packets of the Schwartz ones - think I'll get a few more in case that changes as well.  I never really worried about which one I bought previously, just bought whichever was cheapest or whatever they had.  It seems the SM own brand ones are high as well.

I'm trying to stick to the up to 15 syns again this week and have managed so far, apart from yesterday when I ended up on 15.5 but that's OK as plenty of syns in the "bank"!

I noticed it was a Green day maman but it means if I fancy some crackers and cheese later I can as I won't use the full amount of cheese on the cauliflower cheese as I'll do a mix of parmesan and extra mature cheddar so can have a couple of Ryvita with a squirt of Primula Light.

Planning on doing my final shop tomorrow after golf and then hopefully shouldn't need to go again until at least the end of the year or possibly even into the new year as have (or will have after tomorrow) everything I need for at least 2 weeks.

    Afternoon all

Busy day in work yesterday and of course Christmas is coming so all the tins of chocolate were being passed around 🙄. Luckily, and surprisingly, my willpower actually remained in tact as I really want my first half stone award on Wednesday, it'll be my Christmas present to myself 😊. I have 2 night shifts left before weigh in so just need to avoid the chocolate tins for 2 shifts..... I can do this😁.

Yesterday wasnt too bad food wise I had fruit and yogurt for breakfast, a giant chicken salad for lunch and had spaghetti bolognese with a side salad for dinner. No garlic bread with the bolognese though 🙄 couldn't risk it I had run out of gaviscon and garlic at night is not a good idea without it.

Today foodwise I've had a ham and pepper omelette for breakfast with toast and laughing Cow light. Lunch was pork steaks Cous Cous and mixed veg and dinner will be another chicken salad as I'm in work all night.
