maman - It's a really easy sauce.  You can stir through some fresh pineapple  if you have any but unfortunately I didn't decided to do sweet and sour until today so ate the last of mine yesterday!  Anyway the recipe I use is 1 syn for the lot as we we have half each it's 0.5:

    1/2 tsp Chinese 5 spice
    2 cloves of garlic, grated
    2 tsp cornflour, 1 syn
    4 Tbs tomato puree
    1 Tbs white wine vinegar
    4 Tbs light soy sauce
150ml stock - I use chicken Oxo to make mine
    Sweetener to taste

Mix 2 Tbs of water with the cornflour & Chinese 5 spice then add everything else and mix well.  Heat through and then stir through cubes of pork and pineapple if using until heated through.

I don't think the butter really made much difference to be honest in the Butter Chicken so I definitely wouldn't go and buy it just to make it.  I'd just use whatever spread you normally use.

I’m lurking maman  ;) just not properly on plan, so don’t feel I can contribute much here atm. My covid isn’t too bad at the moment. I am hoping that now I’m 8 months post virus that I am seeing my system get back to a more normal state. My energy levels have definitely been improved; so much so that I spent most of the past week off work decorating. Not finished yet, but if this year has taught me anything it has been to pace myself and listen to my body when it’s flagging.
I do have intentions to keep as much on plan prior to Xmas, but my bday falls 10 days before, and I have annual leave days booked in Dec. too, so I will do my best. As with everyone else I will be at it with gusto come the new year. Often easier with the tempting treats all
    out of the way.

Good to hear from you sary. 😊 You'll get back to SW when you're ready. Keep in touch and just do your best in the meantime. Great to hear that you're feeling better.

Thanks for the recipe denise. I think we'll have it tomorrow and the planned burgers can stay in the freezer. 😊

I thought of you earlier bubbs. Apparently a government minister has decreed that a Scotch egg is a substantial meal! Do we agree? 🤣

A scotch egg can only be called a substantial meal if you have it with a huge salad like bubbs has!  For us at SW it's just a snack, LOL!

Let me know what you think of the sweet and sour sauce maman.  We really like it.  Makes sure you use Light soy sauce and not dark!  It's not a red as you'd get from a Chinese but I don't think that's a bad thing.  I made it with dark soy once and it really didn't look very appetising!

Denise , i didn't have it with a salad, i had it for breakfast and a pear 🤣🤣🤣

    I wouldn't class it as a substantial meal 😱😂

Sary, lovely to see you posting, we need Beanie and Mrs R now

I meant you might be able to call a scotch egg a substantial meal IF you have it with a huge salad like you do bubbs - I realised you only had the scotch egg followed by a pear for your breakfast!

Going to be using quite a few syns today as going to use a recipe my sister gave to me for a sauce to go with salmon.  I always struggle with what to have with salmon when I cook it so thought I'd give this a go but it uses blue cheese and creme fraische (but at least I'm using the half fat version and not the full fat one!).  No idea how many syns as don' know how much creme fraische or cheese it needs - my sister doesn't do quantities!  I don't usually either except when I'm giving recipes to other people!

Didn't get out for a walk yesterday but hopefully we will today.  It feels like I've been stuck indoors for ages - not been out since, I think, Thursday when we went shopping.

    Today's plan:

    B - scrambled eggs and spinach on toast - HEB; P; S
    L - LO roast pork, chips, beans, pickles - P; S; F
D - salmon in creme fraische & blue cheese sauce, pear, boiled potatoes, broccoli & peas

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - Danish blue cheese
    HEB - bread
Syns - creme fraische ? (9 syns per 100 ml but not sure how much I need!); might also be extra syns for the blue cheese as again not sure how much the sauce will need.

You should have put your washing out bubbs.  I've got 2 loads on the line at the moment and it looks like most of it is already dry - probably because it's quite windy - well that's a bit of an understatement, LOL!

I usually go shopping on a Tuesday but going to leave it until tomorrow as got to go to hospital so will do it on the way back.  We're nearly out of beans and tomatoes so will probably buy a dozen tins of each plus need to buy more milk so that'll be a dozen litres of long life (we rarely bother with fresh these days after getting used to long life when we go to France because it can be difficult to get fresh unless you go shopping first thing in the morning!  Also need to buy yet more eggs!  Seem to get through loads but think you probably use even more than me with the number of scotch eggs and quiches you make :) .

    Hi all,

Back from isolation! The op went well, the COVID-19 test was negative too. Happy days. I didn’t eat too badly on the weekend but I did have a wholemeal sandwich with bacon medallions butter and tom sauce both days. I felt that guilty I didn’t take a sandwich with me to hospital so was absolutely ravenous when I got home! Good job on Sunday I slow cooked some brisket,

so Sunday and Monday I had: beef, carrots and celery roasted, mashed turnip, mashed potato, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings, plus gravy! Devine.

Tonight I am having gammon, Bp with cheese and roasted veg. then I will meal plan for the rest of the week as I cant wait to get this foot up.

Lunch was chilli which I have made a few portions of for the rest of the week. It was a chuck it all chilli to use up what I had so it included: onion, carrot, celery, mince, baby plum tomatoes, red pepper and mushrooms, it is actually really tasty – will do it again

In other news I lost a pound and half which means I am back on track and hope for something similar this weekend
