We've not been on our own recently, although both DDs have hosted Christmas in the last 5 years but more often than not it's me!  From 2002 to about 2012 we usually went away in the Motorhome and a couple of times we went to Tenerife for Christmas.  This was started because we'd always gone to my mum's for Christmas so when she died to 2002 I didn't want to be at home for Christmas - I wanted to do something completely different so we started going away but when I retired in 2012 we decided it was probably time we started celebrating Christmas with the family again.  I'm quite looking forward to having Christmas on our own this year if I'm honest.  Certainly won't be bothering with a big "Christmas" dinner.  DH has actually asked for lamb shank so that's what we'll have (I've got a couple in the freezer already!).

Morning all!  Been awake a couple of hours now and up for over an hour - just couldn't get back to sleep so after about an hour decided to get up!  Only had about 4 hours sleep last night as was still awake when I checked my watch just before midnight so think I'm probably going to be really tired today, although don't feel too bad at the moment.

Might pop to the butchers later although might leave it until early next week as don't need anything desperately but want to get a couple of duck breasts which were due to come in on Friday.  Typically I was there on Thursday!

    Today's plan:

    B - fry up with sausages - P; S; F; 2
    L - burger & onions in roll - HEB; S; 1
    D - roast pork dinner - P; S; F; 1

    HEA - milk
    HEB - WM roll
Syns - sausages 2; mustard 0.5; low fat burger 0.5; apple sauce 1

No tie today? I hope she's OK. 😊

Sorry to hear you have even more aches and pains bubbs. Did you do something to your hip or have you been leaning on it too much to compensate perhaps?

I was wondering whether to start a new thread . I think sometimes people get put off by seeing threads with masses of posts.  I'm happy with our merry band but it might help anyone who's struggling without proper groups. Perhaps 'Are you Losing it in Lockdown?' . Or we could wait until new year? What do you all  think?🤔

Snap for the pork dinner! 😁 Reading about the duck breasts denise, reminded me that I'll have to do something too. For years, we've had duck for our NYE dinner with dauphinoise potatoes. We usually have a tin of confit but we haven't been to France for so long that I've now run out. So I'll either have to cook my own or think of something else we'll enjoy. It's going to be hard to make food different/special this year. I think DH and I will book some restaurant meals .It won't be SW friendly particularly but it will feel good to be out.

    Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit squash (F), HEB toast, fried egg (P), mushrooms and tomatoes (S), HEA milk
L- JP (F) veggie chilli (P,F,S), cottage cheese (P), beetroot and cornichons (S)
    D- pork dinner (P,S,F)
Syns- HM gravy 4, weekend wine😁

    Afternoon All!

Sorry to hear about the aches and pains bubbs, you have my sympathy as my teeth are playing up now after the ankle stuff last weekend!

There's only a few more weeks to go maman, shall we wait till the new year for a new thread?  I know what you mean about trying to make Christmas special this year and how difficult it's going to be.  Usually I'd be doing a buffet for our friends and another for my in-laws so we've decided to still get a few "party" bits in and have a few picky dinners here and there.  Also I won't have to drive anywhere for most of the festive season so I've treated myself to a new bottle of gin and whiskey and will be having a drink or two when I feel like it.  Usually I'm driving us between all our families so while DH has his fill of beer and vodka while on our rounds, I'm on the diet coke.

Glad you're feeling a bit more refreshed denise, it's amazing the difference a good night's sleep can do - well that's what they say, don't think I've had a good nights sleep for a while now!

Haven't weighed myself this week as it's star week and I don't want to depress myself even more with seeing all the bloating affecting the scales.  Not really feeling hungry due to teeth issues so had some weetabix this morning, nothing so far for lunch and DH wants tacos for dinner so I'll just have some of the mince mixture with cheese and salad bits cut up very small so I have the minimum amount of chewing to do

Mine is still bad, i saw my friend whi i shop for and she said you look knackered 😫 i said i am not knackered i am in pain! But doing her shopping lightened the load as hers came too £19.06 but i had a coupon for £2.50 off £15 smart shop, i also had a £4.50 off a £30, so i got 1kg 5% mince, tray chicken thighs, pack of stuffing a tray of (reduced) lean cubed steak, 2 things for cash back , £3 in points or £6 in double and actually paid £2 odd for the whole lot after the cashback items 😁😁

I had a scotch egg in the go for breakfast and a pear

    Hi all still lurking 🥴
Going into isolation from 13th (COVID test too 🥺) as having a procedure on 17th. Am in two minds as I miss the last week of term which includes his nibs last day. When he’s annoying me I can’t wait but when he’s sobbing in my arms as he’s scared about the new school it breaks my heart but then I think of my freedom and all is well with the world 🤣🤣.
Dreading having to tell him though 🥴.
Food out the window (wish it was, might lose something 🥺) too much on my mind 😢
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T
    Keep the Faith All

Thanks for posting tie.😊 I do understand how you feel about his nibs but health really should come first.  I suppose it depends how urgent the procedure is and how difficult to reschedule your appointment. 🤔

We've not heard from sary for a while. i hope she's not still suffering with the long Covid. 🤔

Will leave the new thread until New Year ruby. I'm thinking perhaps 'Things can only get better??' might be a good title.🤣

I've not heard anything from my consultant. I don't do Facebook so wouldn't know unless she texts me. So not sure whether groups are opening up here after tomorrow??

Sorry to hear you're still in pain bubbs. Glad the bargains cheered you up. 😀 I went to Asda earlier and I did look at the beef joints. Brilliant value but I don't really have the freezer space. I bought a few more tubes of Primula though. It's still £1 there and both the garlic mushrooms and the creamy cabbage are big hits here. I don't use a full HEA of Primula just a couple of squirts and then add some Parmesan for extra cheesiness. I haven't measure it but I reckon I'm only using half a HEA each.

I've got LO pork from yesterday denise and was wondering how you're doing your sweet and sour sauce? Also, I had a quick look at the butter chicken recipe. I don't have butter and would be reluctant to buy any. Do you think it would work without? Or some Flora? Or yogurt? 🤔

    Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit squash (F), scrambled eggs (P), HEB toast, HEA milk
    L- cold meats (P), 2 potatoes (F), fried beg and pickles (S)
D- baked cod (P), SW chips, mushy peas (F), carrot chips, cauli steak, broccoli, mushrooms and tomato (S)
    Syns- HP sauce 1
