So they know it's not the best time but they do it anyway! That's a 20% increase which is well in excess of inflation and just at a time when the support people are getting is at its poorest.
Like you said denise, I'm not surprised. It's a business....but a greedy one. 🤣0 -
maman said:That's a difficult one bubbs although I suppose it's only for a fixed time until the students travel home. Most of the ones that live near me (Hall of residence at the bottom of the road) are Chinese so they don't go home. They usually travel in Europe in the holidays but not this year. In fact there are far fewer students around but I'm not sure whether that's because they're staying in more or have deferred their courses. Perhaps you could reverse your meal and have your pudding as a sort of afternoon tea and then your meal when you know DH has finished work. I think you should do some of your pies and some cottage pies and lasagnes that are easy to heat up.
This afternoon I went to prepare potatoes for mash tonight and found one rotten potato in the bag . Yuk! It smelled horrible and the others were all slimy because of it. So I peeled them all and made some chips for the freezer as well as a larger portion for mash. I don't often get around to it but I find doing chips in advance like that (parboil then open freeze) makes the chips crispier when they're cooked from frozen.
I had to go out earlier so called into Home Bargains. I think I was desperate to feel a bit normal. I got DH his pitted dates that he loves on his muesli plus bacon and yet more beetroot! DH laughed today when we put the glass recycling out. He said it gave a whole new meaning to 'pickled' as we seemed to have as many beetroot and cornichon jars as wine bottles! 🤣
Yes new meaning ti being pickled 🤣🤣

Evening all
well I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend away - it was exactly what was needed. As food ...well let's just say there was no syn counting but we did walking about 10 miles along the coastal path so it wasn't all eating and drinking!I've been ok foodwise since ...had a pon lamb guvech tonight and will have the leftovers tomorrow for lunch. I've also been drinking boiled water (I struggle with drinking water at the best of times and at this time of year it definitely wouldn't happen) instead of coffee & feel better for that so that's another positive.
Bubbs I saw a note from my consultant about the price increase and I have to admit if I was in any doubt about stopping SW then it vanished when I saw that. I had been predicting this would happen and I said, even before I hit this bumpy patch, that if that happened then I'd stop.1 -

Our consultant or the temp one has not put anything on our page, this was on a SW page on fb.
Morning all,
Was ok now it's tipping it down, breakfast done and dusted, i had a breakfast omelette , finley sliced mushrooms and parsley in the omelette, then i dry fried the remaining mushrooms and some cherry toms and stuffed the omelette with that and beans. Hopefully i am not going to regret that as i have telephone physio appointment at 9 🤣

Morning all, I will be looking for online vouchers to continue using SW online. I like the app, especially the food search
B: fruit and fibre milk
L: BP tuna mayo pickled onions, spring onion, celery (fast turning into my fave lunch)
D : supposed to be sticky chicken but I am not feeling it so I think I might have gammon steak with roasted veg which was supposed to be tomorrow night and il defrost something for tomorrow night. Poss SW ragu
Big walk tonight so il enjoy the gammon even more.

My consultant hasn't posted anything either and usually she's quite quick with any announcements. There's nothing on the SW website either - I wonder if this is another FB "fake news" thing! Not that it makes any difference to me though.
It was WI for me this morning (for this thread only not consultant!) was another STS. Had hoped for a loss as definitely under syns for the week. Never mind - it's a new week and a new Syn Bank from today.
Today's plan:
B - cheese omelette - P; HEA2
L - beans on toast - HEB; F
D - braised steak & onions; mash; cabbage; peas - P; S; F
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese
HEB - bread
Syns - none planned

Morning all! Glad to hear you enjoyed your weekend away GTS - syns don't count on holiday, well that's what I tell myself anyway
Nothing much happening here at the moment - had to run another training session for work yesterday and no one had any questions so they either understood everything or they were just bored! Its a lot colder here this morning so was glad ot have some porridge for breakfast. Lunch is going to be some chicken stew I found in the freezer and dinner is macaroni cheese again. Denise a sts is ok,
Don't think it was fake news about the increase as it was a moderator that posted it, but in Ireland they already pay 9 euros!
Well had my physio appointment but like he said, because of the problem with my foot it's so hard over the phone, so i have my ultrasound on my foot a week on Sat, so he is going to call me again 15th Dec as hopefully will have those results then.
It's really tipping it down here and cold just put the heating back on 😂, can't do what i wanted so looks like it will be ironing instead 🙄Sealed pot challenge number 003 £350 for 2015, 2016 £400 Actual£345, £400 for 2017 Actual £500:T:T £770 for 2018 £1295 for 2019:j:j spc number 22 £1,457Stopped Smoking 22/01/15:D:D::dance::dance:- 5 st 1 1/2lb :dance::dance:0 -
Joedenise - definitely not 'fake' news ...apparently there's a lot of unhappy members posting on twitter about it and the stock response is that it's their first increase in 12 years and look at the lots of lovely things you get for your money.
The one thing about the lockdown is that it has definitely opened up my eyes to what I was spending my time & money on beforehand & whilst I have missed seeing friends, there's a lot of activities that I was doing now out of sheer habit.1
