Hello everyone
Bubbs hope you're recovering well & Congrats Sary on the baby news!
went a little mia over the weekend but I'm relatively pleased with the way it went - had John Todode's Pad Thai & Tom Kerridge's Beef Bhuna both of which was very nice.
(Maman how was the jalfrezi? I must admit I'm really craving curry at the moment!)
well we're back in lockdown come Friday - our consultant has moved the Saturday class to Friday (& I have to admit in the video she put up it came as a selling opportunity for the countdown but that may be me being all bitter & twisted lol) so for the next 3 weeks I'm going virtual. Also did a 5km run tonight which I was pleased with.1 -
Well done on your loss klew. Shame about that elusive quarter pound. 🤔😉
The jalfrezi was tasty gts. I'll definitely do it again but the sauce needs some thickening. Did you make the Tom Kerridge bhuna yourself? I can see a lamb recipe online but would you need to slow cook beef? Perhaps it would work with chicken. 🤔
Hope tomorrow's a better day beanie. ☺️2 -
Thanks @maman
i actually made sw beef tagliatelle last night, followed the recipe to the t apart from i only used half the mince and added a red pepper, unfortunately when i went in the cupboard for the oregano somehow the nutella fell on the spoon, I'm not even sure why i did that whoops - oh well it was a good day apart from that1 -
Morning all! Very grey and overcast here this morning - not really helping my lack of energy when it comes to doing actual work plus my hands are a bit stiff and sore today. Managed to do another cardio dance workout this morning which was fun but now I want to just go back to sleep
Had porridge with raspberries again this morning, and made a vat of vegan chilli for lunches this week so will dive into that today and finally defrosted my last portion of haddock chowder to have for dinner tonight. Needing all the comforting and warming food now it's really Autumn.
I'm off to make a coffee, hope you all have a good day.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20171 -
Morning all. Grey and overcast here too this morning but forecast to brighten up later. It's certainly milder today than it was yesterday. No washing today!
Just back from doing some shopping and picking up my new glasses. At least I can drive safely now - haven't driven at all for quite a while anyway as DH usually drives but at least I know my sight is at least at a level that I'd be able to pass the sight test for a driving test now which apparently my old glasses weren't! A bit worrying that.
Well done to the losers. Don't think I'm likely to be joining you this week - I think I'm in for a gain and will be out of top end of target - well I was this morning when I weighed indoors! Have added up my syns and only have 11.5 for today and tomorrow so it's doable but still don't think I'll get a loss, might be lucky and get STS!
We weren't impressed with the jalfrezi maman, it just lacked any flavour but agree the sauce was too think and needed to be thickened. In fact DH said "is this supposed to be a curry?". I think could definitely do with a bit more chilli in it to give it a bit of oomph! I suppose it might have been better with chicken rather than the butternut squash and chickpeas - veg probably need a bit more to give them some more flavour.
Today's plan:
B - fry up - sausages, egg, mushrooms, beans - P; S; F; 2
L - cheese on toast - HEA; HEB; P; F
D - LO gammon, chips, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, pickles - P; S; F
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese
HEB - bread
Syns - sausages 2
9.5 syns left for today and tomorrow.

Better than cleaning Nutella off the floor klew. You did well to catch it!😉
I know what you mean about the jalfrezi denise. I thought it was better than most so I'll fiddle about with it. I've been searching for a HM curry (Indian style) recipe that's SW friendly for 10 years and never found one. The Aldi one is acceptable. We used to like the Lamb Rogan Josh too but they changed the recipe. I'll be interested to hear about the Tom Kerridge bhuna from gts.
I'm going to make the mash today from BNS, carrot and potato. We really enjoyed it last week and it's so smooth.
Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit (F), fried eggs (P), tomatoes, mushrooms (S)< HEB toast, HEA milk
L- cold pork (P), fried veg and beetroot (S)
D- sausages, mash (F.S), onions, greens, cauli (S)
Syns- sausages 1, gravy 43 -
If you like a flavoursome curry with a little bit of heat you're quite welcome to the curry powder mix I usually use - it's a Medium heat which you can easily adjust by changing the amount of chilli you use in it. I make a batch at a time and store it in a small screw top jar in the cupboard with my other HM spice mixes - tagine and jerk but I'm not happy with the jerk seasoning at the moment so I need to tweak it a bit and then try it again! I'm planning on doing jerk prawns sometime this month so will have another fiddle with it then.
As the weather brightened up I decided to change the bed so sheets and pillowcases are washed and on the line and duvet cover & pillowcases in the machine now. It's forecast to remain dry for another 3 - 4 hours so hopefully they'll be dry or very nearly by then, if not they can finish off in the tumble dryer.0 -
Does anyone else look at the Slimming World Blog? They've got a recipe on it at the moment for Blueberry Muffin Cheesecake which looks nice so I'm having a go at it this afternoon but I don't actually like blueberries or blackcurrant jelly so am using cherries and lemon & lime jelly. It's quite time consuming so I hope it's nice! They make it in a square tin but I haven't got one so am using a slightly smaller round tin so that the syns work out the same, you just have to use slightly less water with the jelly and less fruit. The square tin cuts into 9 pieces for 1 syn each and the round one into 8 pieces again for 1 syn each. Will let you know if it's nice once I've had some!
