We didn't have the jelly and ice cream last night so had it tonight.  It was definitely better with some skinny syrup and some vanilla!  So just 0.5 syns so far today :)

The chicken and leek bake was a big success. After initially being suspicious that it was veggie, DH loved it and we both had second helpings. 😁 I mixed some Parmesan in with the topping, added grated carrot and then some grated cheddar on top. I put a pinch of thyme in too. I'll definitely be making it again but next time I'll perhaps use sliced potatoes instead of grated as I found it a faff. It's not often I applaud a SW recipe but this is a good one. 👏👏👏

I think it's probably the best SW recipe I have used in the nearly 10 years I've been doing SW!

I actually liked the grated potato, gave it a nice bit of crunch.  Agree it's a bit of a faff but I did mine in my food processor and got DH to squeeze it out so it was nice and dry!

Is that strawberry yoghuert bubbs, or is it just the photo?

It's strange that we don't often use SW recipes. My biggest issue with them is that they're often a bit watery and tasteless. My biggest successes are from adapted recipes for things I've always cooked or adapting 'normal' recipes that I see. HB steaks is probably one of the best. Many just need frylight substituting for oil. DH asked if last night's meal was a Jamie Oliver as he knew I'd been watching the programmes.

Food shopping today, the highlight of my week.  I've been finding that every week I'm running very short of basics like eggs and veg. I'd put it down to moving my shopping day to a Thursday but I think it's because we aren't eating out at all so I'm expecting things to last longer and they don't! I only plan for dinners and then just buy a range of veg etc. that I'll use for lunches and breakfasts. Breakfasts are fine because we always have 7 of those but things I use mainly at lunchtime like eggs, cottage cheese, mushrooms and pickles disappear fast. I'll think about that when I'm doing my meal plan later.

    Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit, baked beans (F), fried egg, bacon (P), HEB toast, HEA1 milk
L- LO chicken & mushroom bake (P,S,F) with pickles (S)
    D- SW Bolognese (P,S) with pasta (F), HEA2 Parmesan
    Syns- none planned

Good afternoon!  I don't know where this morning went, other than that we've been repotting some of the veg we started a few weeks ago that have grown too big for the little pots we started them off in!

DH is going to order some top soil so that once the veg are a bit bigger and there's little chance of a frost, probably around the end of the month we can plant up the veg in that bed.  We've also got various plants on order which are also expected this month sometime but not got actual dates yet so need to get sorted ready for them!  We've ordered butternut squash, a couple of different peppers and some French beans.

    Today's plan:

    B - baked oats; frozen mixed fruit - HEB; S; F
    L - crustless quiche, salad - P; S; F
    D - pork steaks, mini roast potatoes, veg - P; S; F

    HEA - milk
    HEB - porridge
Syns - none planned but who knows how I'll feel later!

Seeing your quiche for lunch denise, reminded me of an old recipe that DDs did in their cookery classes at school. It's potato quiche, a traditional quiche Lorraine but with a mashed potato base. We used to have it often as being more substantial it went against the old saying 'real men don't eat quiche'. 🙂 It only has 50 - 75g of cheese for a large flan dish which with the second HEA is very doable. We don't have it for meals any more as DH stopped eating eggs but it would be good for me for a change at lunchtime or even to have SW friendly snacks. 😁
