Made some ice cream tonight!  Didn't put any sweetener or skinny syrup in and to be honest it could certainly have done with some!  Wondered whether it's OK to add some to the yoghurt before pouring it into the bowl.  What did you used to do bubbs?
The machine is really noisy and wondering if they're all like that.  Was yours? and what about your new one?

As long as the lasagne tasted good it doesn't really matter if it looks a mess does it?

The cheese sauce came out OK maman.  Only used a little cornflour and it wasn't quite thick enough so I added some Xanthum Gum until it thickened, only needed about 1/2 tsp of it to get it to the right consistency and it was OK.  Have to say it's more hassle than a packet mix!

Yes Denise def use skinny syrup or something, i use syrup, i use to pur the yoghurt in then tip the syrup in when its going round.
Yes they are noisy , i think its the because the bowl is frozen and the paddle scrapes round it, No my new one is not noisy but perhaps cause its a compressor.
The lasagna looked a mess cause i did it in one of those foil things and felt it wasn't warm in the middle so took it out and put it in a dish in the microwave

Which recipe do you use for the pulled pork PIB? And which cut of pork? DH loves it but I've never been sure how I'd get the visible fat off successfully.
Looked at a few recipes and improvised in the end  :D. I buy a shoulder of pork, cut of string and rind and fat. Put it in SC with a pack of passata, few tbs of BBQ spices and a chopped onion. When meat is ready to fall apart (after at least 6hrs), lift it out, and then whizz up the sauce so it is smooth. Then up to you as to how much sauce to mix up with the shredded meat to get consistency you like.

Had more of it tonight, with cauliflower cheese from the SW 2020 success booklet, very nice. You use your HEa of cheese, with ff yogurt mixed with egg, over cooked cauli, into oven.

All this talk of ice cream really makes me want one of them icecream makers! Bubbs what was the brand of your old one that broke? Guess that is one to avoid.

I wouldn't say to avoid because it was less than £25 i had for 2 years and it was used almost daily, certainly had my monies worth out of it, it was a vivo

Morning all.  Weather not too bad this morning but a bit windy.  Would probably be a good day to dry washing but haven't got any to do!

Forgot to say had an extra 0.5 syn yesterday as we had jelly with the ice cream.  I'm within syns for the week and have 32.5 syns left for today and tomorrow so think I'll probably come in just under this week so hopefully a loss!

    Today's plan:

    B - scrambled eggs; toast - HEB; P
    L - jacket potato; beans; salad - S; F
    D - chicken, leek & potato bake, broccoli; cabbage - P; S;F; 0.5  (recipe from this month's magazine); jelly & ice cream 0.5

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
    Syns - cornflour 0.5 for cornflour; 0.5 for jelly; might have a mini Vienna 4;

Have a good day everyone and keep safe.

    Denise

Good to see you posting abbafan. I think that many people are eating through boredom during the lockdown. That's not really a problem if you eat the right things.  Personally I'd find such a lightweight breakfast would make me hungry so much sooner although no problem filling up with a banana. I only ever have cereal when I'm going out for a large lunch so not bothered with it for weeks and weeks.  I was thinking yesterday that maybe the shortages of eggs could be because more people are having a cooked breakfast.

Thanks for the recipe feedback denise and moll. We haven't had cauliflower cheese in an age but, even the standard recipe, would be less synful now that we can have the second HEA. I'm cooking some of the pork shoulder steaks today. I've almost decided not to cook from scratch but to use some of the gravy I've got in the freezer (LO from HB steaks) to braise them in. Do let us know how the new recipe goes denise.

DH has a book to give to a friend. He could post it but it's near enough (3 miles each way) for us to walk. Maybe we'll compromise and drive some way and walk the rest. I'd certainly like a change of scene rather than the same routes.

    Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit (F), ham, scrambled eggs (P), HEB toast, HEA milk
L- ham (P), fried veg and pickles (S)
D- braised pork steaks (P), mash (F), cauli, broccoli, kale, cabbage, carrots (S)
    Syns- HP sauce 1

Will do maman.  It looks good and someone from my group made it earlier this week and posted a picture and have to say it did look very similar to the picture in the magazine!  That doesn't happen often.

Sounds like a good idea to use the LO gravy from the HB steaks to braise your chops.

Agree with you about a different route, it gets really boring walking the same route every day.  We sometimes drive to where we normally finish before turning round and then walk the next bit which is about 2 miles, so a 4 mile round trip.

I was really amazed when I totted up my Syns for the week so far that I'd actually got as many syns left as I have.  Thought I would have had far less.

We've just finished dinner and have to say the chicken, leek & mushroom bake was amazing.  It was really tasty and is definitely a keeper!  Only thing I'll do different next time is to brown the chicken first and set aside and then do the rest of the base of the dish and stir the chicken back in before topping with the grated potato mix and baking.  We had it with cabbage & broccoli.
