    Evening all
Today has flown by, but I don't feel like I achieved much more than doing some washing and baking some flapjack for the men of the house's packed lunches.

    Plan today:
    B - wm bagel HEB + (5), spread (2)
L - Mixed salad: lettuce, onions, cucumber & tomatoes with 2 chicken drumsticks, dressing (1)
D - Mixed salad (as above) with rustic seasoned chicken breast & savoury rice, dressing (1)

I had taken 0% yogurt with strawberries to work to have as a snack but so busy I didn't have a chance to have it.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home

    Evening all
Yawning my head off here :D No idea why, I’ve had a busy day but not manic. I’m up early for driving lesson tomorrow so maybe an early night will do me good. Managed a 20 minute walk on my break. My back was screaming and I had to stop several times but I’m proud that I managed something. WI in the morning- my new super duper all singing all dancing scales are arriving tomorrow but I’m using my trusty old faithfuls tomorrow. I honestly don’t know what the verdict will be- I don’t feel like I’ve lost anything but today is the first day I’ve felt like all is well with my stomach so clearly I’m doing something right. No supper tonight as I don’t eat for 12 hours before WI- I had a big tea but my belly is already growling :D

    Today’s food:
B: HEXB HiFi x 2, banana, apple, flat peach, decaf coffee with HEXA s/s
L: Salmon skewers (2) Ainsley Harriott roasted tomato and garlic couscous (1/2) salad, water
T: Tuna pasta salad, Dairy Milk ice cream (13.5 syns- and it was worth every single one :D) water, decaf coffee with HEXA
    Syns: 16
    Night all xx

Morning all.  Lovely day again today.

Either myself or DH need to wait in today for some deliveries the other one will need to pop out to Drs to pick up our prescriptions before we go on holiday - my inhaler runs out the day we're due back so didn't want to wait until then to pick it up in case it wasn't in stock again this month!  Had to wait a couple of days this month for the chemist to get it in.  Suspect it will be me going to Dr as DH doesn't like going there if he can avoid it, even though it's only about a mile away!  It's closer than the supermarket!

    Today's plan:

    B - overnight oats - HEB; S; F
    L - smoked salmon salad (including home grown cherry tomatoes) - P; S; F
    D - shepherds pie, veg - S; F; 3.5

    HEA - milk
    HEB - oats
    Syns - lamb mince 3.5; lolly 6

Morning all.  Hope your back feels better soon Mrs_R and god luck with WI.  I hate all the palaver with prescriptions denise - we used to have ours automatically sent through to the local Boots pharmacy but they always messed it up so now we just go and pick them up from the Dr's and then have to go 5 miles in the opposite direction to drop them at the pharmacy.

Managed to do an arm workout yesterday and convinced DH to go for a walk with me in the evening.  Managed to sleep so much better last night so know that I need to continue with the exercise.  Tonight is a leg focused workout so I probably won't be able to walk much tomorrow!

B - Porridge (HEB & 1/2 HEA unsweetened almond milk), strawberries, blueberries, skinny caramel sauce
L - Ham and beetroot salad (mixed leaves, beetroot, peas, ham, horseradish and ff greek yogurt dressing)
D - Paella (rice, chicken, prawns, peppers), salad
S - Iced latte (1/2 HEA oat milk)

Found the recipe for lunch on the BBC good food website.  It uses 1 tsp of horseradish mixed with greek yogurt and thinned out slightly as a dressing so not counting syns for that when it's like 1/3 syn, but hopefully will be nice as I've planned to have the same thing for lunch for the rest of the week

Morning all, I feel your prescription pain! My grandma is on all sorts and has the monthly medipacks and inhalers delivered by the pharmacy. In theory it's wonderful - she doesn't have to go anywhere and her tablets are all portioned out for her, but in reality there's an issue with it almost every month and I have to go chasing about between the Drs and the pharmacy trying to sort it

Bet you're excited for a break away Denise! Am I right in thinking you're staying in the UK this time?

    Today's menu:
    B - Weetabix, sugar (1)
S - Cantaloupe, banana, passion fruit
D - Jacket potato, going to attempt a creamy sauce with some cottage cheese that needs using, mushrooms, garlic and red onion
T - Diet cola chicken from the freezer, couscous and green beans
    HEA - Milk
    HEB - Weetabix
Syns - Sugar (4), hot choc (2), Parma Violets (3) - discovered these are only 1.5 Syns for the little packs and I love them! = 8

I've also been out and run three miles before work this morning so getting back on that horse too.

I have a question that occurred to me as I was making tea last night. So I was making a recipe that was basically 1/3 pearl barley, 1/3 tomatoes and 1/3 leeks plus herbs and spices. I put them in a casserole dish, added stock and baked it for an hour. Of course, the pearl barley soaked up the stock and swelled to twice the size, while the tomatoes and leeks all but dissolved and I felt like I was just eating a bowl of (tasty) pearl barley. Can anyone reassure me that that was still a speedy meal..? :confounded:

Got the prescriptions.  We get our meds from the Dr's surgery because we live so far from town - closest one is 8+ miles away.  However today they didn't have my inhaler again and didn't have one of DH's capsules so had to go to pharmacy which fortunately is just across the road but until that opened a couple of years ago we used to have to go to the pharmacy in Mr Ts in town so was a right pain if anything was out of stock at the Dr's.

Yes Tete we're staying in the UK this time as it's only a week.  We're doing 1 night at Canterbury; 4 nights at Rye and 2 nights near Battle.  May well look for somewhere to go the weekend of 21st but if we do it'll probably just be for 2 or 3 nights.

Cooked veg still counts as Speed so your tasty pearl barley was still a Speedy meal.  Where did you get the recipe from?  It sounds as though the recipe isn't quite right, perhaps the veg should have been left a bit bigger or even put in after the pearl barley had been cooking a while.  An hour to cook tomatoes and leeks seems to me to be a very long time!

Glad you got sorted in the end and can go away knowing you have everything you need.

The recipe was from one of the roasting tin books, the idea is that you bung everything in and leave it to cook with minimum hassle and I guess the barley needed that long to cook. It was lovely and tasted strangely of sausages despite being vegan, must have been the leeks!

It's absolutely pouring down here now, I'm glad I got out for my run early!

Definitely a SW friendly meal even if it sounds a bit bland tete as there's nothing in there but veg and pearl barley. I think it might be better (for taste and Speed) if you thought about the finished portion size though. I made chicken jambalaya last week which is one pot. Basically it's loads of veg and rice with chicken breasts on top.  I used a cup of dry rice then add tin of tomatoes, mushrooms, courgette, peppers and onion (sometimes peas as well) plus herbs and stock. It fills up a large casserole dish when cooked, at least enough for 4 portions although the original rice is a tiny fraction by volume.

The prescription business is nationwide I think and it's been going on for ages. I think Brexit caused a problem even pre lockdown. We're lucky because we have a state of the art medical centre with pharmacy next door under the student halls at the bottom of the road. The trouble is the pharmacy is carp. DH had so many issues trying to get his medication that eventually the GP walked out of the surgery mid appointment, walked round to the pharmacy and checked what was in stock before writing the prescription!

Glorious day here and I’m off dancing this afternoon. I’ve decided to take a rice salad and some berries with yogurt. It could have been free but I decided to use up a pouch of microwave rice at 2 syns. I bought it by mistake (Golden Vegetable rice) as I should have bought the dry one which is free.

    Today’s EE plan-

B- NAS grapefruit (F), scrambled egg (P) HEB toast, HEA milk

L- cold meat (P), fried veg and pickles (S)

Snack- rice salad (F,S), berries (S) and yogurt (P)

D- veggie chilli (P,S) and brown rice (F) and cottage cheese (P)

Syns- rice 2, HP sauce 1

Had an extra 4 syns this morning as decided to have a Kenco Barista style coffee with alcohol free Baileys, really like these but try not to have them every day but they are definitely worth the syns and even better that I got some on offer a couple of weeks ago in Morries!

Glad it's not just me having problems with medication but I'm finding it quite annoying that the Dr hasn't had my inhaler in for the last couple of months, they know I have it and always used to have it in stock - I've been on this particular inhaler for about 3 years now.

The jambalaya sounds nice maman, not had that for a while and it's a great user up of veg!  I think we all love one pots!

Agreed denise that one pot meals are the way forward although I get a little bored of them from time to time as it just seems to be variations on meat, rice / potatoes / pasta, and some veg.  I'm probably just limiting my scope of recipes though   That coffee sounds nice.  I've also had some syns this afternoon for a pick me up with some lotus biscuits (4 syns for a pack of 2).  What is it about that flavour that just makes you want to have more and more or is it just me?
