That's a good price for the water melon bubbs.  I actually bought one in Lidl yesterday, was 59p per Kg, mine was just over 3Kg and cost £1.88.  I wonder what size the Aldi ones are?  I often find when they on Super Six that tend to be quite small.  Don't actually need any of the s6 this week so won't be making the trip this week.  Maybe I might go next week as not sure whether ore not I'm going to need more salad as I've got lettuce growing in the garden, also cherry toms but doubt they'll be ripe enough by then though!

Morning all.  Our lettuces aren't growing that well denise but our radishes are almost ready to pop out of the soil so will be pickling quite a few of them when the time comes.

Woke up not feeling brilliant today so haven't had breakfast yet as no real desire to eat.  If I do end up wanting something a little later then I've planned something nice and comforting in:

B - Carrot cake porridge (HEB oats, 1/2 HEA almond milk, grated carrot, cinnamon, nutmeg, skinny syrup)
L - Prawn salad with 2 syns for salad cream
D - LO bolognese pasta bake with 1 HEA mozzarella, salad

I must have done enough damage limitation since getting back from holiday as I weighed this morning and it's STS, so really pleased with that.  Not sent to consultant though as I'm only doing that every 6-8 weeks.  Have worked out it's 16 weeks from last WI to when I go to France in September so will send weight to consultant in 6 weeks time and then again the Thursday before we go away.  Will then have about 4 weeks after our holiday to get back into target!  Well that's the plan, LOL!

I planted too many lettuce seeds ruby so they are really close together so just picking as leaves not letting them form into lettuce, means we can have fresh leaves whenever we want them.  Been picking for the last couple of months.  Picked some yesterday and there are definitely quite a few more to pick so hoping they'll just keep coming for a while yet!  We don't eat radishes so obviously don't bother growing them.

Courgettes are doing well.  Picked another couple yesterday and put in the fridge, also used a couple from the day before in the savoury mince yesterday.

Had to change our menu plan for last night!  The pork didn't cook in time for dinner so we ended up having the savoury mince with mash & peas, very nice it was too.  Have frozen another 6 portions so am well pleased.  Planning on doing a veggie chilli in the SC this morning.

    Today's plan:

B - weetabix/milk - HEA/HEB (was supposed to be overnight oats but I bought a different yoghurt and it is so sour neither DH nor I could eat it!)
L - soup (not sure what sort yet but probably lentil or mixed veg)
D - roast pork in gravy, roast potatoes, roasted carrots, peppers & onions, green veg (I'll scrape off the gravy as I don't particularly like it!) - P; S; F; 1 (for the little bit of gravy I can't scrape off!)

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - mik
    HEB - 2 weetabix
Syns - gravy 1; couple of rum & ginger beer 5

Football again for us tonight so syns will be confirmed later.

Well done on STS denise. Really good considering how high syn some of the tinned goodies were. 👏👏👏

Hope you start to feel better soon ruby. How do you do a Bolognese (or any other) bake? Reading your menu, I thought it might make a change from ordinary Bolognese. I often read about chicken bakes or tuna bakes but never made one myself. I know there are online recipes but personal recommendation is always better. The savoury mince recipe I use came from Topgirl that used to be a regular on here. It's delicious. I don't add the potatoes either denise, or peas as they lose their colour and I like to keep it SP..

I really envied you the fish and chips bubbs. I could have easily passed on the doughnuts but was drooling for the battered fish. I might have some soon to make up for the many meals out missed.

    Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit, baked beans (F), fried egg (P), HEB toast, HEA1 milk
L- JP (F) with cottage cheese (P), beetroot and spring onion (S)
D- SW Bolognese (P,S) with spaghetti (F) and HEA2 Parmesan
    Syns- tbc

Sorry been AWOL again. Will gloss over yesterday as didn’t have a good day food wise.  Today is looking much better.
    5k run this morning (whoop!)
    B - weetabix and skimmed milk (HEA/HEB)
L - lo pulled pork and salad , tbsp bbq sauce (1)

D - baked bass fillets, few SW chips, carrots and peas
    Snacks - banana, apple, Satsumas
Have to attend yuck screening test this afternoon. Will buy some nice fruit whilst I’m out and about.
GTQ - could bloating be TOTM related? I take Agnus Cactus from H&B which helps.
    Have a good day all

Thanks maman .  For the bake, I literally make a batch of bolognese (fry off extra lean mince with onion, garlic and grated carrot, add chopped tomatoes, tomato puree, bay leaves, italian herbs and worcestershire sauce) and cook some pasta at the same time (usually about 75-100g per portion).  Once the bolognese has been bubbling for a little and the pasta is mostly cooked, tip them both into a baking dish and top with cheese.  This time I used light mozzarella to mix it up.  Chuck it in a 200 degree oven for about 20 minutes and it's done.  When I'm feeling particularly lazy I chuck the pasta into the bolognese to cook and add some beef stock to give the pasta something to soak up and then just chuck the whole thing in the oven that way.  It makes a change to regular spag bol and I find it easier than a lasagne but you still get the same effect of meat, pasta and melted cheese.

I didn't put the peas in either maman for exactly the same reason.  Peas look horrible if they lose their colour - a bit like when I make my 2 pea soup, where over half the peas are dried so makes it a bit less green but it makes it a really cheap soup and actually tastes really good - I use 100g dried peas, a small potato, an onion, garlic clove and pressure cook for 12 minutes; depressurise add 50g frozen peas which brings it back a reasonable colour.   Cook for 5 minutes and when whizz in the liquidiser or food processor to blend.  Actually having mentioned it we haven't had it for a while so it might end up back on the menu plan again next month (as I've already done this month's!).

Might add the Bolognaise bake to next month's menu plan too.  I do a fish and pasta bake (which is what I've planned for tomorrow actually!).  I use cooked smoked haddock, salmon, & white fish, mixed with white sauce and then stirred through pasta and then bake in the over with cheese grated on top.

  • Reporting a 2lb gain, not happy, but it is what it is. Did have a thought, wonder if that and the bloated feeling is actually water retention, I doubt very much if anything like what went in came out, reducing my intake today to see if that shows any result and drinking peppernint tea so who knows. It's a new week and I am still over 4 1/2st lighter than I was  :D
