Good to hear you've got your head back into it ruby. Don't be too mean with yourself on syns though. Glad you enjoyed your ice cream
I'd seen the term 'reverse meal planning' denise but never really understood what it meant. I always start writing my plan to use up fresh stuff and with my freezer inventory next to me then just add in what I must buy to make meals from that and any staples that we're about to run out of. Is there any other sort of meal planning?
I had to have Ribena this morning as haven't been able to source grapefruit squash. I think they're only producing the more popular flavours to make production easier during lockdown. Hopefully it'll return to the shelves soon.
Today's EE plan-
B- NAS Ribena (F), fried eggs (P), mushrooms, tomato (S), HEB toast, HEA milk
L- ham (P), fried veg and beetroot (S)
D- veggie chilli (P,S, F), brown rice (F), cottage cheese (P)
Syns- HP sauce 1

Yes there is Maman! You write your menu plan and then buy what you need for that week! However I do a combination of both, using up stuff in freezer plus fresh stuff what needs using up. Most of mine tends to be a bit reactive because I write it up a month in advance so often need to buy things even though I've got other stuff in the freezer, which is stupid really.
Planning on trying weekly this month for a change. Have already done the week we'll be away as want to use up some of the high syn stuff I've got in the cupboard which we bought when we were away in March but didn't use because we had to come back a couple of weeks early.
The only thing I bought which was worth buying as reasonably priced was butternut squash in Lidl! With hindsight I should have bought a couple as they keep for ages but never mind, hindsight's a wonderful thing!
Off to write up this week's menu plan - already have something out of the freezer for tomorrow as for some reason I did last month's menu plan for 31 days rather than 30! No idea what I was thinking at the time, perhaps it was because we were still in May when I did it!

Thanks for that denise. I suppose some people start from an empty cupboard, freezer and fridge but I hadn't thought of that denise . It's quite a sad thought. I have heard of people who throw out anything in the fridge at the end of the week though. I've seen them on those TV programmes. 🤔☹️0

Well done on getting a loss bubbs. I like roast carrots, substantial without counting as carbs. 😉 How big is the packet of ham trimmings? I find them really tasty (Aldi sell them too) but if I don't eat them straight away they seem to taste odd the next day. 🤔1

Well done on your loss bubbs. You are making me jealous with the talk about Farm Foods!
I love roasted carrots and have them whenever I do a roast dinner or even if we're just having chops! I usually do peppers & onions as well. Not so keen on roasted parsnips but do make them very occasionally - usually when I buy a load of stew veg to make up stew packs to go in the freezer which I find makes it much easier to make a stew than having to chop veg every time I want to make one.
I certainly don't throw stuff away at the end of the week - there's rarely anything left by the end of the week! Occasionally there might be the odd few carrots but they don't get wasted, they get made into either carrot & lentil soup or carrot & coriander soup and frozen.
I bought a swede this morning and am going to make some swede and carrot mash to put in the freezer. DH doesn't really like it but he'll have to put up with it now and again, LOL!

Well done on loss Bubbs, hope I achieve that this week. Slightly off topic, mentioned last week that I am going to start getting bits in just in case we have problems later, nipped into Superdrug last night to pick up shampoo, which I did actually need, got an 800ml bottle of Tresemme for £2.40 odd, bargain 1/2 price, think I will nip in again to get a bottle for store.A smile costs little but creates much0
