He passed his driving test less than a week after his 17th birthday with just one lesson! I know what my problem is - lack of confidence! If it was down to me we wouldn't go more than about 20 miles or so as I just don't do long journeys unless they are absolutely unavoidable, like when DH had an operation on his shoulder at a hospital about 100 miles away and wasn't allowed to drive for 3 months! I had to drive everywhere and I absolutely hated it. I was in my mid 30s before I passed my test so have been driving for about 35 years but have had long spells where I haven't driven at all because we haven't had automatic cars. Where we live now if I was on my own and didn't drive I'd really be up a creek without a paddle! About a mile to a bus stop for an hourly bus that turns up if you're lucky with 2 hourly service on Sundays. Last bus home from the nearest town 6pm! so no going out for the evening if you don't drive but means one or other of us can't drink so we don't go out for evenings unless we're away. If we eat out we tend to go out lunchtimes so we can use buses but it's a long walk back from the bus stop and uphill on an unmade road!

Morning all, what a difference half a day makes! It was really bright yesterday afternoon and very warm. This morning it's grey and miserable and it's been raining again but nothing like yesterday morning's rain thankfully! Still warm though. Hoping it's going to bright up this afternoon again as DD1 and family are coming over for a meal - they don't want a "proper" meal so we'll eat our main meal at lunchtime for a change!
Today's plan:
B - fry up with butcher's sausages - 2 sausages, egg, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans - P; S; F
L - lasagne with butternut squash sauce (from freezer); hg courgettes (which we didn't have last night)
D - pulled pork wrap with salad - HEB; P; S
HEA - milk
HEB - wrap
Syns - sausages 2; wine (probably!)

I am so impressed with all you dedicated people. I haven’t been on here since April when I had put on 8lbs. I have now put on 10 lbs. I have totally lost all enthusiasm for SW. I believe our group does an online meeting but I haven’t participated. I still have a few weeks left on my countdown though. I still cook all my own SW meals but things like 2 slices of toast and honey for breakfast, an occasional icecream, a chocolate bar most evenings, cream with strawberries etc. have slipped in. I see the words syn, muller yoghourt, weigh in and image therapy and I just switch right off. A friend from SW has gained over 2 stones since lockdown and she feels the same. We are lost causes. 😡

Hi Penny. It can be hard if your head isn't in the right place. All you can do is stick to SW principles as much as you can hopefully you won't put on too much more before you're back in the right place. Most of the things you're having could be incorporated into the syns! Things like your toast and honey - there are now a couple of 800g loaves that are OK as HEB (Nevilles from Mr Ts and Morries own brand wholemeal) so you could still have your 2 large slices, honey is OK too at 1 syn per tsp; there are a few low syn ice creams and lollies you could have or you could just freeze some yoghurt to have.
I'm not surprised you're switched off by the words image therapy - it's probably the worse part of SW, all that happy clappy stuff! In fact over the last couple of weeks I've decided (as I'm at target) I'll probably only go to group at the most once a month!
Stick around and perhaps you can get back into the right headspace!
Good luck.2 -
It's not been easy to stick to SW during lockdown Penny. We started the thread, without a particular challenge, just to keep things going especially as groups have been closed. I know many people have been comfort eating, others have found it hard having children at home or their usual routines upset from working at home. Personally, although I've been tempted to have extra wine syns, not eating out has helped me to stay in control of my food. 🙂
I've cooked up some swede and carrot mash this afternoon. So that's a portion for dinner tomorrow and the rest for the freezer. I find that if I cook sides like this, and braised red cabbage and sometimes celeriac, in advance it's so easy when I do a roast. 😉
Today's EE plan -
B- NAS grapefruit, baked beans (F), fried egg, bacon (P), HEB toast, HEA milk
L - veggie omelette (P, S), ham, cottage cheese (P), beetroot, cornichons (S)
D - sweet and sour chicken (P, S), SW chips, brown rice (F)
Syns - sauce 3, weekend wine 🍷😋1 -
Evening all
Sorry forgot i didn't come here this morning!
Been to my sister's today and had a good chat and a couple of cuppa'sShe invited herself for tea Monday, i said glad to see things are getting back to some normality 🤣🤣

Glad you had a nice day with your sister bubbs, you're right it's nice getting back to a bit of normality. We had DD1 & family over yesterday and I definitely had too many wine syns!!! I'm definitely better synwise with spirits than wine. So I need to be very low syn for the rest of the week because I'm planning on weighing Thursday because I'm going away in the caravan the following week so won't be a good idea to weigh for a few weeks after that as I'm planning on using up some of the junk food from the cupboard that DH picked up while we were away in March (fortunately all tinned!). Also got a pizza from Icel*nd free with my Bonus card which I found out about from an e-mail - so that will be defrosting in the fridge on the way to the campsite for dinner that night. Very high syn dinner that night.
Think I might have to try SP for a few days when we get back, even though I never fill full up with them. Perhaps I'll have to take a leaf out of your book maman and cook up some swede and carrot mash and some celeriac mash to have instead of potatoes!
Today's plan:
B - fry up with sausages - P; S; F; 2
L - LO pulled pork, leaves, cucumber roll - HEB; P; S
D - pork chop, roast potatoes, roasted carrots, peppers & onions, peas, courgettes (think that's the last of them for a few days - lots of very small ones still on the plants so there will be more to come!
HEA - milk
HEB - WM roll
Syns - sausages 2

Morning all
Cooler today
Denise i just pile my plate high with veg or salad and make sure i have plenty of protein to fill me
Hubby was just reading online Leicester might me going on local lock down and that is not that far from here! i do think there will be alot of these the way people are acting especially when we come into Autumn and WinterSealed pot challenge number 003 £350 for 2015, 2016 £400 Actual£345, £400 for 2017 Actual £500:T:T £770 for 2018 £1295 for 2019:j:j spc number 22 £1,457Stopped Smoking 22/01/15:D:D::dance::dance:- 5 st 1 1/2lb :dance:0 -
I wouldn't be surprised if that happened where I live as I'm only a couple of hundred yards from the beach and we get loads of Londoners coming down and the beach is absolutely crowded. We haven't been near it for weeks now because of the over-crowding. But if they do lock us down it won't really be the right area they're locking down as probably 80% of the people aren't local!
I know how much veg and salad you have on your plate bubbs but I just can't eat that much salad. I'm OK with loads of veg but I think I really need the starchy ones to feel full up!
