  • I have decided i am not shopping for top ups until i am out of bread and fruit. When that happens i am at risk too as i do get a bit carried away in the shops.
I should go back to online shopping as I have more time to think, I’m store i panic and just pickup everything 🙊
  • Write a shopping list that way you know what you need, it's all worked out in a controlled environment as you look to see what you have at home and what you need. If it's not on the list, it stays on the shelf.

  • I don’t know what happened 🙈 I wasn’t even hungry when shopping so I don’t have that excuse. Im thinking I should cancel my next gousto box as I don’t think it’s crazy expensive but I could buy a full week shop for the price of a box including snacks and top up bits.
  • Sorry to hear about your dogs pain @ForestBluebells hope the physio helps. I would also be asking the vet for a prescription and getting meds online or asking about over the counter alternatives. Pet insurance is expensive but we have had our money’s worth from ours. If you stop the insurance you would still need to put money aside to self fund.

Top up shops are always a struggle for me, even with a list 😆

We have to be ruthless. It is so hard but we must. I am writing it down so i follow it.
Aiming for a minimal spend 2022
  • I will make that my task for my next shop to be really strict. I think because I go so little I tend to grab more when I do go and it was easier when I went weekly to just get 1 thing. I have gousto next week so don’t need any meals until later in the week, I probably have enough in the freezer anyway and I did get some tuna and a potato so can have that one evening.

I need to try cut back on gousto and try meal planning better. I was really good at it at he start of 2020 then when the pandemic started I just switched to gousto and never stopped. I definitely think I’m spending too much on food though.

Is £160 a month a realistic budget for 1 adult including cleaning supplies?

It's a realistic budget, depending on what you eat and what brands you buy. I'd suggest sticking to a list for a few months, keep your receipts and see where your budget naturally falls.

  • Now my other dog has developed a bald patch 🙈 I’ve sent a photo to my vet to see if they want to see her.

Oh boy I’m jealous! I guess I spend way too much on food
