British airways refund

Hello. Just thought I would let everyone know that I received a full refund of flights from BA.
I booked in October last year directly on BA website for flights to Argentina return via Brazil to fly out on 20 April 2020. BA emailed me twice in March. Firstly, that the flight was still going ahead and not to contact them but I could change dates or get a voucher. I did not cancel. Second email said they cancelled the flights. Tried ringing during the week. No success. So I rang BA on Sunday 5 April at 5:33 a.m. and to my surprise someone answered. I requested a refund. They said yes. The conversation took exactly 3 mins and 26 sec. I actually said to the woman "is that it!" On 12 April I got confirmation email of the refund. Then I received the full amount in my bank account on 14 April! Now I'm awaiting on my tour refund from the insurance which was booked separately. I posted all the details to the insurance on 20 March. They would not accept emails. Also the tour company will not refund because they have scheduled it for 2021. But who knows what will happen next year. Initially my insurance said I did not pay extra for the Travel Disruption but they would "consider it" !! Never heard of Travel Disruption cover until now and I've been travelling for years and always insured! However, I'll wait and see what happens. Best of luck with BA.1 -
I have been very fortunate after many hours on the phone to obtain a partial refund (less £234) from British Airways for our cancelled flights in April owing to CV-19. BA have conveniently omitted to provide a full refund stating that they do not refund the
Government, authority and airport charges unless the ticket is fully flexible.
BA state that the fare breakdown is:
The price of your ticket includes a carrier imposed charge or fuel surcharge, where applicable, per sector levied by the carrier. All taxes, fees and charges are to be paid by the member (not British Airways). The price of your seat selection at GBP 234.00 is included in the payment total.
Is this just a case of BA clinging onto their slice of Air Passenger Duty?
Am I entitled to reclaim the missing £234 or should I pursue another avenue?

My flights on May 1-5 were cancelled today, called and after waiting 47 minutes on hold, got through. Refund processed and I should receive email confirmation and money in 3-4 working days. Will see how it goes.
Yrag, if flights were cancelled by airline, not sure why you didn't get full refund. You definitely should. Was it a no show, rather than flight cancellation by airline? But even then, you should get APD back.

Hi, Sorry to butt in on this one, BA have just cancelled my father’s flight on the 31st May from Mumbai to Heathrow. Problem is, he has a return flight to go back to India in September which obviously hasn’t been cancelled! If I phone up, can I get a refund on both the flights? I bought them on the same ticket back in January. Apologies if it’s a straightforward answer, googling hasn’t got me anywhere. Thanks in advance 🙏
[edit] 20/4/20 08:40 - May help someone in the same boat:
Just got off the phone from BA, no quibbles. Full refund, should be back on my card within 2-4 weeks. There won't be any confirmation until the refund has been processed.0 -
Hi
I had a package holiday booked to Florida for the end of April with BA. In March when they offered to reschedule holidays I contacted BA to rearrange, they couldn’t rebook us with a holiday later on in the year and advised us to take a voucher. We asked about a cash refund and they said they were unable to do this so we took the voucher option. The next day our flights were cancelled, am I able to ask again for a cash refund now that the holiday is officially cancelled or as I have the voucher am I not able to do anything? I’m just worried that the airline could go bust and we will loose our voucher.0 -
As you have already accepted a voucher I don't think you would get a cash refund. I think the voucher is for any holiday anywhere. Perhaps you could find out when the voucher expires and plan from there.0

I had a holiday package booked to the Dominican Republic for May 17th. Last Friday BA emailed to say the flight had been cancelled and I would receive a further communication to discuss my options. This afternoon I received a follow-up email saying I will be getting a full refund to my CC in the next 7 - 10 working days. I've not needed to try contacting them and no offers of vouchers. I had assumed they might try pushing this to the wire to see if I would blink first so very happy!0

Hi, BA initially cancelled the return leg of the flight from Dubai to Heathrow which seemed odd. Post lockdown they subsequently cancelled the outbound leg. We were scheduled to fly out on the 8th April, returning on the 19th and received confirmation that the flights were cancelled on the 25th March. After trying to get through on the phone for some considerable time I adopted the tactic of not selecting any options and just waiting on hold until someone finally picked up. It appeared that whenever I selected an option, I was simply told that all operators were busy and the call automatically ended.
Unfortunately, I doubt any of the airlines will survive this pandemic…
[edit] forgot to add that once confirmed cc was refunded within 7 days

Yesterday received full refund from BA for holiday cancelled by them . Money in my bank a/c 14 days after e-mail cancelling trip ( that included 2 bank holidays ) . I had not been able to get through on the phone, I did send DM on Twitter, I didn’t get a reply so I don’t know if it was that or just their policy now to refund ?0
