But you're giving the institutions the impression you want to run up a big credit card debt.

i have two measly credit cards. most people have at least 5 or 6 min

What are you trying to prove and to whom?
If you have 2 cards already why do you need more?
No one sees on your files who the lenders are but you

So i thought i go for a credit card with better rates then i currently have with aqua and amazon. Sick to death of these high interest cards.
But surely now thast you have dug yourself out of a hole and are being financially responsible you pay any spends on these cards off fully each month, so the interest rates don't really mattter?

I was talking to a friend a couple of weeks ago and she said she asked her bank for an overdraft and they declined, when questioned why it was declined the person said "It's probably because you've got payments going out to debt collection companies",  Dunno how true that is but might me an issue if you're paying off old debts from these bank accounts.
Just the same as when you see payments to Payday lenders.
It highlights that there is a issue. So it is a higher risk. At the moment, risk is not something any bank will want to take on if they can avoid.

Yes, they will know who & how many you have. Also they will know who you have defaults or payment agreements with etc with Any bank that see's a payday lender on a account will at best run a lot further checks, at worst simply decline. Risk is not something banks are going to be taking at this point in time.

why on earth would you want more credit cards when you can't afford what you have? I think you need to either cut your spending or up your income.

I have had two measly credit cards for many years both paid off in full every month, two measly cards are all I ever wanted as I  have never been in debt to anyone, but I do keep being offered more and most people I know are quite happy with just a couple instead of building up debt, pay your cards off fully every month and you don't need to worry about interest rates.
