OS Daily Friday 30th November.

Off to get the sticky.

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednessday 29th November. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and
motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone.:hello:

First time I have ever started the daily.

Just had a refresher through yesterday's daily, I can only hope that all our problems are settled as move into December tomorrow and I always feel that Christmas feels that much closer. :o
Roz, I wish you luck with sorting out the bank and your wages bloke.
Hester, what awful news for your colleague.

Hugs to those kids with bullying problems I would like to think that school would protect you, but schools do appear to be more concerned about the bully rather than the victim.
Hugs to the poorly ones and any poorly kids out there.

Miss Twit will be returning to school today and I need to go to the bank and catch up on all sorts of jobs before I go back to work on monday

Love to all
The Twit.

  • Morning WHATATWIT and all who cross and follow

Glad someone has started thread. Always feel a bit uncertain about it. Haven't posted for a couple of days as it's been mad. OH had to collect DS yesterday from school as he was sick. Have been awake since 5am. He's now curled up on the sofa watching Pingu and eating breadsticks, so I guess he must be feeling better. Still no school today just in case.

Was I glad of my SC yesterday when I got in. Still no more work until Wednesday when I'm on nights:j .

Not many plans today, shall just potter and look after DS.

Hugs to all who need them .

  • Morning Chums ,
another sleepless night last night , still the decongestion tablets seem to be working as my nose has stopped running the marathon.
Just a few Christmas cards to make this morning , I made a whole pile yesterday afternoon so I'm nearly finished. Then I have to find my list and get them all written out . Weather doesn't look too good at the moment .I hope the rain holds off as I have to pop my library books back as well.
My DD is getting depressed as its her 40th birthday on Sunday, her husband is taking her in to London for a nice meal at a posh hotel for the night .So I'm off to keep the peace between her two children one's 17 and ones 14 The eldest boy isn't too bad, but the daughter is hell on legs at the moment a sort of female 'Kevin' I'll soon sort her out though as she knows she can't get away with it when Granny is around .She's not a bad kid, ,just hormonal.
Well time I got a wriggle on, and got the coffee on the go, <<hugs>> to those in need, and a big smile to the rest of you

Will try to get my washing cleared tonight, as we will be out all day tomorrow,

Well done on the weight loss Mrs Mc :j  that is an amazing amount to loose.

    Hugs to all

    xx

Edited to send hugs to hester, what a terrible thing to happen.

Roz, your employer should legally offer you a sub on the wages owed, also any bank charges incurred should be paid by him, we had exactly the same problem at work one month, thet gave us all a sub, and paid all bank charges for the month, I think they have to do this, you obviously need money to live xxx
  • Morning all
Off to work soon, we had lunch provided for us yesterday, vegitarian, which I quite enjoy. It certainly made me wonder how much our canteen know about nutrition, we had a choice of white rice or new potatoes with what they called a winter stew, it was frozen mixed veg cooked with tinned tomatoes, but it wasn't winter veg it was skinny carrots with a few bits of pepper I also had half a french bean & 1 sweetcorn kernal, but not everyone was so lucky. I pride myself on knowing how to provide a balanced vegitarian diet, but this was a joke, there was no protien in it at all, the school were charged .75 a head. I think I could have done better, still it was free to me, so I didn't complain.
Hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

MRS MCAWBER - well done on the weightloss - not the best way to lose weight, being ill, but the overall loss is phenomenal. Well done. Hope you're feeling better now.

POOKY - I feel really bad because I forgot to wish your DD a happy birthday for yesterday, so here are 2 belated cakes. Hope she had a great day!:bdaycake: :bdaycake:

(((HUGS))) to all those of you who are unwell. What a sick couple of months it's been - well, longer than that because I know my rotten cold started on 27 September, the day before my Mum's birthday, and took a good five weeks to finally clear up. I still get the odd cough but I can cope with that. It doesn't keep me awake at night - panicking about Christmas does, though!

Well, my sister and her DH will be here at around 7pm - I'm going to cook Paprika Pork for dinner 'cos I can keep that in the oven if they're late, and we'll have fresh pineapple for pud (all the 'P's!) so that will be easy. I don't want to to stand cooking when I'd much rather be gassing with them.

ROZ - Direct debit charges! I worry more about them than about the actual bouncing. I have 14 DDs on my account - if they all bounced, the charges, at £38 each, would come to £532 - something I'd never be able to pay on top of the DDs themselves. Some of mine are for low amounts like £7.18 for my contents insurance, yet it would cost £38 if it bounced and I really resent that. My bank (Halifax) has one of the highest charges for bouncing DDs and cheques, and, at the moment, they take 6 long days to clear cheques, but I have always found them to be so helpful, I'm loathe to change to a different bank. As long as I let them know in advance that I won't have the funds in the account to cover something, they are brilliant. It doesn't happen often, though; I don't know if they would be quite so understanding if it did. Also, I ALWAYS write and thank them afterwards - I think that goes a long way. Good luck with your bank.

TIRED MUM - thinking about you and your DS - I hope he has a good day today.

Well, I'm off to have a shower now. I want to get to the Coop early to do my food shopping. I am a member of their dividend scheme and they sent me two vouchers for £6 off if I spend more than £50. Well, I nearly always spend more than that in there, so it will be a good saving. One voucher has to be used by Sunday and the other, by 31st December. £12 is not to be sneezed at! I love free money!

I also have to dust and hoover right through but my hoover is playing up so I don't expect that to be an easy task. DH will look at it tomorrow, once he's looked at the problem with the electric windows on his car, mended my desk lamp and fitted a new toilet seat! He'll be glad to go back to work on Monday.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a good day - I think we'll all be glad to see the back of November.Tomorrow is a new start and Christmas is on it's way! Woohoo!

    See you all later.

  • Morning all

Jannyannie, hope the LO feels better soon, but I still remember lovely days lying on the settee when I was little, feeling much better and watching the TV, admittedly it was the Wooden Tops then :D

MrsC. well done on the weight loss, not sure you want a bug every week though, even if it does mean 5.5 lbs loss

JackieO, sorry you're not sleeping, did you know Mitch Albom has a new book out called For One More Day - yes it's a weepy, but I know you enjoy his books

Got to wait in this morning for the Sky+ man, so mush remember to dust behind the TV and anywhere else he is likley to explore :o

Well, 94% of GMTV viewers want Janice to win Celebrity, but I say Biggins for King

Have a good day everyone x

(((Hugs))) to JACKIO - hope you feel a lot better soon.

JANNYANNIE - hope LO is better soon.

CHARLIE'S MUM - oh, the Wooden Tops! They were my favourite, especially Spot the dog, 'the biggest spotty dog you ever saw'! I also loved Twizzle but not many people remember him!

REDRUBY - have a brilliant day tomorrow.

HARDUP HESTER - that meal sounded just about vegetarian enough for a rabbit! When I was at school, many years ago, when we had proper Domestic Science and Cookery lessons, we were taught all about balancing a meal with protein, carbs (although we would have been told off for shortening that word!) and so on, but I'm not sure they learn all that now. My friend's daughter's cookery lessons seem to be all about designing biscuits, no cooking involved, so people are not learning about proper nutrition. It worries me for future generations. I've never forgotten what we called the 'building blocks' of a meal; they seem to be a mantra while I'm cooking! It's one of the reasons I don't eat things like MacDonalds or KFC - plus you never know how clean people are in these places! And don't get me started on people not bothering to wash their hands before preparing food, especially after they have handled money! That's a real bugbear of mine - my family will tell you that!

I'm definitely going to have my shower now.

    See ya.

  • Good Morning All

Loads to do today, DD is back at school which she is not happy about but I am. Lost some time yesterday as the hoover wasnt working so had to go to Makro to buy a new one. They have changed the layout and I dont know where anything else which is good as I just get what I went for then leave - normally end up with a trolley full of 'bargains'.

Will be setting that up this morning and using it. Will also be washing all the downstairs floors, bathrooms to be swished and the dining room will be deep cleaned as have a business meeting in there this afternoon. Loads of washing also to be done today and tomorrow and plan is to have ironed everything by tomorrow evening. Am sick of being behind on everything, get up straight one day then things happen the next couple of days and we are back to square 1 again.

Business meeting is about something that will increase our cashflow and mean that I will no longer have to worry if our main client pays late or misses a payment. This will be a godsend as I was really concerned about when we go on holiday - it would have spoilt it completely.

Am helping out at the School Xmas Bazaar later, its only a little village school and the bazaar is very popular and it gets very crowded and hot in there so am glad with be on the other side. They do have lots of nice stalls so think the kids will be spending their pocket money tonight.

No idea whats for tea as having to go out very early.

Mrs Macawber - very well done on the weight loss

Hester - read your post from yesterday - very tragic. My thoughts are with the family.

    Have a good day all.
