Sorry, that was a typing error, I owe them £350. I never directly told him I'll be able to pay he just said let me kjnow in writing how much I can pay and he wil let Nike know.

What is the terminology they have used to confirm what you owe them?
  • Are you honestly saying you sold 100 pairs and didn't realise they were fake? Didn't ANY of your customers point this out to you?

    Assuming you are serious...

If it were me I'd write back saying that you are a mere student and saw this as a business opportunity to help pay your way through college.

Point out that you only made a few quid on each pair and that you'll gladly pay the profit you made. Offer to pay the profit to a charity of Nike's choosing, that may go down well.

Whatever you do state that in hindsight you were foolish and naive and that you'll never, ever do it again. Be apologetic.

Possibly also offer to forward the details of the guy selling the ebook and the factory itself. Whatever you do DON'T pass this info on until AFTER Nike have promised to drop the case. I suspect Nike would prefer to go after the big fish at the top of the chain rather than the minnow at the bottom..

    NEGOTIATE a settlement!

I have no idea how you go about finding a suitable firm of lawyers. is it possible to maybe call up the law society and ask if there is a list of firms that specialise in this kind of thing. Or how about trying a Google search for law society and see if they offer any advice?

It might well be cheaper to pay Nike than to pay specialists. He needs to find a local solicitor. Of course he might get lucky and have legal advice assoicated with a house insurance policy (maybe, maybe not).

Get yourself a good pair of trainers..... Nike ones perhaps!! and start running..... and don't stop.

There is a hundred potential posts to come on this forum by new members complaining they got ripped off by a scammer selling knocked off Nike copies who won't refund!!

At least ONE of the buyers must have complained..... did you refund???

Forget laywers! Just send letter back returned to sender. Not at this address, make sure you cancel and get rid of Ebay account too lol!

If you keep sending letters back return to sender they will get the message eventually and quit bothering you.....

How do you owe them £350? I'm pretty certain the law does not work like that.

Solicitors do not just make up figures that you have to pay them without going through the proper channels.

they're trying to get an out of court settlement so it's perfectly reasonable (and standard practice) for them to "Make up" a figure and ask for him to pay it in order for the matter to be closed.

Got a reccomendation from a friend who says I should go to Owen White lawyers. Going to cost me an arm and a leg this is!

If it was simple £350, I will pay it and never touch those shoes again, but, the want £25 per trainer which is going to equal a few thousands of pounds.

Knowing how solicitors work, they would want every single penny off me.

Look, admit it you got caught selling counterfeit goods, you can't con us by saying you're a poor student and you didn't know what you were doing. As my local trading standards team would say, if the offer is too good to be true then it invariably is.

If you can't do the time then don't commit the crime it really is that simple.
