Nike taking me to court! (Hewitsons Solicitors)

Called the solicitors directly and spoke to the guy handling the situation. He said I should write him a letter saying how much I can afford to give, to which I immedietly replied, I can only pay your costs of £250 not the £25 per trainer charge, he said to put it in writing and will Nike knnow which I think is a load of cobblars, I reckon as long as he gets his £350 he will be happy.
What do you reckon? Its better than a few thousand pounds and this is the last thing I need whilst in full time education! WOuld be more than happy if they take the £350, it'll be the end of the matter and wont even touch those trainers again.0 -

It doesn't matter what any of us think, MSE is not a place for legally binding legal information. For proper advice you will need to pay a solicitor if that is what it takes. Otherwise who knows whether you are causing yourself more problems by admitting you are at fault, which from a lay persons point of view would appear to be what the suggested letter will be doing.
Basically their solicitor wants you to write to them offering a settlement and thereby admitting guilt without any legal representation on your behalf..am I the only one who thinks this sounds a bit susupicious. have you any actual proof for instance that these solicitors are actually acting legally for Nike or acting speculatively.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. A quick google, not proof of course, but returns "Hewitsons has a ‘very good’ competition specialist in Luisa Leone, whose clients include Nike and whose recent work includes advising on novel food filings and....”"0 -

Can't find the 'right' solicitor. Where shall I look first? Ive made a few calls but they keep passing me on.0 -

Why tell them you can pay them £250? Tell them you are not earning and cannot pay any of it but you would be willing to pass on the contact details of who supplied you.
Are you sure this isn't some disgruntled customer having a laugh at your expense? It certainly does sound like a load of cobblers.0 -
Sorry, that was a typing error, I owe them £350. I never directly told him I'll be able to pay he just said let me kjnow in writing how much I can pay and he wil let Nike know.
Alos, he did say all information regarding customers who bought the shoes and my supplier detials would be needed included how many pairs I needed. He said they had a rough idea of how many I sold from ym feedback, when I called them they did sound professional, they also have a website and their letter is professional, also, they are solicitors who act on behalf of Nike.
Im now thinking, if I send the letter, its a way of confirming and letting them know I actually sold the items.0 -

I have no idea how you go about finding a suitable firm of lawyers. is it possible to maybe call up the law society and ask if there is a list of firms that specialise in this kind of thing. Or how about trying a Google search for law society and see if they offer any advice?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
