Hi, i've only just found this thread this week whilst ill off work. I have read from the beginning and have so far got to page 85.
Reverse meal planning is something i've done for a long time and didn't realise so many others did it (thought i was a bit odd).
I'm loving all your recipes and hints/tips and i'm hoping i can join in.
Today i have made a fish pie, buy fish on offer and bung it in the freezer until i have enough to make a pie, i've bulked it out with sweetcorn, brocolli and green beans, used up a small truckle of smoked chedder in the sauce thats been in the fridge since christmas, it was in a wax so perfectly ok just a week OOD, also made a rhubarb crumble from last years rhubarb that i had frozen will have it with some ice cream as we seem to have several tubs open in the big freezer. Currently in the oven is a lemon loaf cake to use up a past it lemon and a banana and walnut cake to use up some dodgy bananas.1 -

Comment from DH "Do we have to live on leftovers so much?" answer "Yes, we've turned into a minimum waste household. Do your bit for the planet and help save a bit of money as well"
Stir fry tonight with (guess what) LO chicken - I won't mention the left over bit.3 -
Yes indeed, welcome @pennywisepoundstupid - you will fit right in here!
I forgot to cancel eggs this week so we now have loads - I have hard boiled 7 to have as snacks or salad. We do love a pumpernickel egg and lettuce roll but with the no starchy carbs thing until Easter, lots of omelettes and frittata are going to feature.
In the meantime 2 of the four chilli portions were eaten last night. When asked whether he preferred chilli or egg salad I received the wrong answer!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £9586.01 out of £6000 after August (158.45%)

Morning and thanks for the welcome.
Fish pie was delish and there is 3 portions left that i need to squirrel into the freezer before DH decides he is having it for lunch, we have other things to eat up. Breaky today is some whoopsed potato cakes i found in the freezer along with scrambled eggs, our chickens are laying like mad at the moment so need to eat some up. lunch will be a hotch potch of thing, salad needs eating, there is some tuna mayo, smoked turkey and some kippers, also 2 hot cross buns need eating up. Tea is roast chicken and i found some pigs in blankets in the freezer whilst in there so they will eek the chicken out, have a stuffing mix in the cupboard that can also be made up.
Noticed some not very fresh looking veg in the fridge last night, going to throw a soup together which i will take to work this week and half a large pot of greek yoghurt that i opened on Friday to use to marinate some chicken breast in so will take that in little pots with some frozen stewed fruits.
I have 6 not very sweet satsuma in the fruit bowl any ideas on what to do with them?3 -
Roasted a gammon joint today which says it serves 5; there are only 2 of us so some of the LOs will be dinner tomorrow night with chips & beans. Then we'll have a sandwich each from it but think there will be even more as DH will slice it on the slicer so will get far more slices then if cut by hand! So more slices will be frozen for sandwiches in the future.

2) Freeze the peel and make crystallised peel when you have enough, or cut the peel into strips, cook in sugar syrup until soft, air dry and then dip in dark chocolate for a treat, I use cooking chocolate it's cheaper and no one notices.

Enjoyed sausage sandwiches for breakfast yesterday (ancient grain rolls and gosh veggie sausages from the freezer.. both YS so worked out approx £0.10p each) and the remainder today with tinned tomatoes, freezer hash browns, freezer black pudding and toast.Turnips were used in a ‘Turnip tartiflette’ which used up a single rasher of bacon from the freezer, Brie that was a valentines gift which I couldn’t eat unless It was cooked and a small bit of black pudding. This was with lamb and actually I’d make it again!Dinner tonight was fajitas with the last wonky avocado, dregs of sour cream with some green peppers from a bag of wonky peppers. We rarely eat the green ones but with all the accompanying side bits it disguised the more bitter taste a littleFollow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay
