Thanks @Suffolk_lass; definitely worth trying again as every bag varies so much and also a good idea to do other shopping at the same time.  That's what we usually do.  I'm going to try for a bag on Monday evening as I usually do a shop on Tuesday morning so could actually do the shopping then rather than going out again on Tuesday which of course would mean less fuel so win:win!

I noticed the other day that the nearest Toby Carvery to here had magic bags available the other day, not seen those before but unfortunately no good to us at it's about 20+ miles away but may be of use to someone else.

Enjoy your meal tomorrow with friends.

Just checked my PayPal and no refund yet. Did you use the messaging system/feedback or is there another way to request a refund @joedenise?

I can't really remember but think I just used the feedback button.  I got an automated reply and then a proper response a couple of days later saying they'd be refunding me and would talk to the store concerned.  It took over a week for the refund to show on my card so don't expect your money back too quickly!

If you don't get the automated response then use the other method!  I definitely got an auto response.

  • I think it must depend on the store re the quality of the TGTG bags. I regularly get a Greggs one as they are such good value here. Yesterday's had 2 sausage rolls, a chicken bake, a tuna salad, 2 doughnuts, a cookie, a muffin and a fruit salad - and then the assistant told me to pick any sandwich from the shelf that I wanted! I get that not everyone would want pasties/cakes, but I have 2 hollow legged teenage boys so it works for me. I have had Costa ones previously, found they were mainly the toasted sandwiches.

I did complain about one bag, but never heard back - a local coffee shop was doing a bag for £3 so thought I'd try it - I got 3 croissants which were delicious but hardly worth £3.

I am very happy this evening! I got my first ever 2G2G bag from Morries this evening. £3.09

    I got
    • a punnet of TB (the best) clementines - one was off in the bottom but that's OK
    • a punnet of TB woodland mushrooms
    • a pack of prepared broccoli and cauli florets (seal split)
    • a pack of asparagus tips
    • pack of trimmed mangetout
    • big bag of prepared spring greens
    • 6 tomatoes
    • 2 courgettes
    • a 2.5 kg bag of red potatoes (split)
That is brilliant. Well happy with that haul.

DH will have the mushrooms for breakfast (I am allergic), I will use the green stuff mostly over the weekend.

    Great haul Suffolk_Lass
I have ordered another one from the local bakery that cancelled yesterday for collection tomorrow
Found a butcher with bags but 5 mile round trek walking or 4 buses taking 2 hours, no good for me but great for locals
It is in a deprived area but with an excellent reputation and awards so I hope someone got the benefit
I have not been allowed to drive for the last 10 years due to my eyesight, and mostly don't miss it, but would be handy for this TGTG thing
Will report back on whether my bag happens tomorrow or not and what is in it

I too grabbed another Morries bag last night for collection today. It’ll be the last for a week or more on account of having more fruit and veg than I could possibly need. I think I have 4 varieties of apples and about 8 of each! So many berries so my daughter will be happy and more carrots potatoes and grapes than I know what to do with!

We’re having a roast Sunday (haven’t got much choice now… there’s just too much veg) which will use some but really need to make a conscious effort on the fruit. Will make some unsweetened apple sauce for cakes and snacks for my little at some point which also should help.

Will be back to discussing reverse meal planning in no time I’m sure!

I wondered if you have tried bottling (Americans call it canning) apples? I use the screw-top Kilner jars but you could use a large jam jar. Just prepare and stuff them in tight, cover with warm sugar syrup (I make it less than 1 for 1 strength) and then pop them in the oven on a tray and heat from cold to 140c until the syrup is almost boiling. Then out and wipe any spillage and pop the (hot) lids on with a cloth. Turn the jar upside down and cover with a tea-towel to cool slowly then they should store. If the lid pimple hasn't popped down they won't keep but even then, they keep for a week or two in the fridge. Instant apple sauce or crumble (you can use or lose the syrup).

I also got my TGTG bag on 2nd attempt
For £3 I got a large salad bowl (3 slices ham with coleslaw, cheese, mixed peppers, lettuce, cucumber, sweetcorn and tomatoes), a cheese and pickle sandwich on thick seeded bread, a large (800g) wheaten bread, 4 crumpets and 2 doughnuts.
Happy with that and most has gone straight in the freezer (not the salad)
Added MS bonus, the salad came in a large cardboard tub which will be used for seed sowing
    Glad I perservered :)
Not something I will do often, my toast consumption is 1 slice 6 days a week and the bread will last 3 weeks
