Wait....what..... ROAST DINNER WITH NO POTATOES?! (to underline the outrage here, I didn't even knowingly put caps lock on to type that - THAT is how appalled my 'puter is with the very suggestion!)
I'm afraid I was really less than thrilled with our Morries TGTG bag - it was decent value, but not really "make a meal" stuff if you know what I mean.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I've been a woman knocked down with a cold for the last few days so DH has been making best use of the pantry to have beans on toast almost every night 🤣 We have some sad looking veg in the fridge so going to turn it into a veggie pasta bake this evening (leek, carrot, onions and cherry tomatoes) to get some nutrients back into our bodies. Plus it's an easy meal to just bung in the oven and forget about.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20172

In the meantime we have leftover roast chicken tonight, having had roast with no potatoes last night!! (I know, technically it's against the law

EH - shame you weren't happy with your TGTG bag but personally I wouldn't really expect to be able to make a meal out of products which are going out of date! I've never had any protein in any of the bags I've got but it's nice to get extra fruit and veg at a much reduced price. The bags always seem to be good value for money. The thing with the bags are that you are stopping food waste going to landfill.

I guess a lot of it comes down to the sorts of food people eat - we wouldn't usually have cake midweek for example, whereas I absolutely get that for others that's a perfectly usual thing.

Maybe I've been lucky but we've never had cakes in our Morries bags! We use 2 different stores in opposite directions and our closest one isn't as good as the one in the next town in the opposite direction. I think we worst things we had was a bag of spring greens which were 3 days out of date and inedible!, still it got used by adding to the compost! I complained to TGTG and got a refund so basically the rest of the bag was free! Most of our bags have been full of fruit and veg.
One bag we had contained 2 bags of wonky avocados which we are still working our way through! Just keep them in the fridge and take out one or two a couple of days before we want them to ripen up a bit. They're been in the fridge for nearly 2 weeks now and we still have about 8 left!
It's definitely worth trying another bag as every one is different.

I stopped buying the TGTG bags from Mr M when in the last one I got half the items were several days past there Use By dates. Totally happy to have stuff past its Best Before but legally they cannot distribute Use By after its date so very dodgy. One item was 9 days past its Use By - makes you wonder why they still had it! But that was one particular store, other Mr M stores were better but not such a convenient location.
May try again when I'm back in the office as there are two stores fairly local to my route home.2 -
Made a big pot of bottom of the fridge stew for dinner and served it with an aging pack of mushroom couscous out the cupboard - will have the leftovers tomorrow.
Placed an order with approved food for various protein powder / meal replacements they had (mostly vegan but a few vegetarian) and decided to add a lucky box for £1 - very pleased with what I got! Vegan curry sauce (will use for a fakeaway night with naan breads out the freezer), two bags of crisps, chocolate bar, two packs of polos, microwave rice and chickpea packet, tin of brown lentils in date!), tin of pepsi, bottle of kombucha and a couple of other things I have forgotten.
Need to make some more soup but fridge is looking quite bare for veg - apart from swede, a few peppers and some carrots. When I placed the order with Mr M my basket got emptied. I thought I had added everything back but forgot to add cauliflower and some other bits. Hoping to be COVID free by the weekend so I can go to the greengrocers and stock up. Am okay for salad and have frozen veg so will be okay but not used to the veg drawer being quite so empty.3
