Old Style Weight Loss 2020 - Part 2

Cranky I'm so sorry for what you went through and sorry I missed it originally as you posted while I was typing (it takes a while as work keeps getting in the way). Well done on sticking to the no sugar, especially with home made ice cream.
Gingerlily Don't question the motivation too much, I find that mine runs away as soon as I think about it

Don't worry Izadora and I'm in awe of your posts. My menopause memory shift means I forget most of what I want to say before I've typed it. The no sugar thing is being made easier by my sister doing it as well. I am stubborn and would hate to be the first to give in
I am also relieved to see my weight going down rather than up or staying the same for the first time in what feels like ages.

Cranky My memory's shocking but I have two screens for work so make notes on one before typing a post on the other. Even doing that I still manage to miss things sometimes
Being stubborn, or determined as I like to think of it, is great if you've got a challenge going with someone else. I might have to see who I can rope in for the next quarter...8 -
Good morning lovely losers!
In my quest for discovery and movement, I suffered a setback yesterday. While I strongly believe that the natural state for humans is movement - both physically, emotionally and thoughtfully, and the screen life is not ideal.
So I try to walk, run, kayak and ride my bike when I can. Or a spot of gardening!
Anyways when I went out kayaking yesterday I went straight in the river, probably not a good sight. But instead of ging home and cry, I got right back in and went for an other soggy paddle. Beautiful warm evening, would not have missed it for a dry pair of pants!
Have a lovely day.

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin11 -
Well ladies as a fat menopausal woman all i can say is 30 is too hot and i miss the office air conditioner. At the risk of frightening the neighbours when i water the garden I'm tempted to remove my over the shoulder boulder holder
It seems to me our brains are strange and complex things which often do our bodies no favours, it's way of making us deal with painful events in our life seems to be by damaging our bodies by over eating, drinking or drug taking.
Monna my dad sounds like yours and would have been heart broken if he has realised that 'words can hurt you' even when said as a joke or as a nick name. His way of dealing with tears if someone had been mean to us at school in my case over my weight was 'sticks and stones will break your bones but names will never hurt you' then again he was man we buried in the same size suit as he got married in. My mum on the other hand knew what she was saying and the affect it could haveI remember her complimenting me once on new trousers and asking where i got them and then said 'oh i never realised they did clothes for fat people' that was over 35 years ago you always waited for the sting in the tail which came after any compliment from my mum another one was 'I've left you my engagement ring after all it will be the only one you will get' I was 25 and I often wonder if I had got married would she had changed her will?
I weighed in this morning and managed to lose the 2lb I gained last weekthe bread I ate yesterday obviously hadn't taken it's usual effect so as long as I avoid the scales tomorrow I'll be happy for a bit
Thank you for your comments re my sister she was still in hospital last night, one of my other sisters will call my BIL later for an update there are too many of us to all phone so we have a telephone tree where one sister will call me and then I call another etc. This year has definitely made me more aware that my 4 eldest siblings and their OHs are gettng older and aren't so healthy as we would like them to be, mind you my 60 year old sister is probably more of a worry health wiseLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin11 -
I wish I could wrap you all up in a great big scrummy hug - what an amazing group of people you are. xx
Dad's nickname for me was / is Podgy Puffin or Podge for short. It's written on birthday cards etc that he sends me. It's just occurred to me that if anyone else did that I would have disowned them! I guess I know there's no malice in it. Now Mum was a different kettle of fish! 'Look at the state of that' stands out and she once told me that I was like a ship in full sail at a time when I now look back at photos and think 'I wish I still looked like that now'. When you grow up knowing that your own mother doesn't want you or love you it's hard to love yourself. As a teenager she once told me that I was the biggest mistake that she'd ever made and she'd been paying for it ever since (she got married because I was on the way). It's taken a long time to reach where I am now - and, thankfully, I'd forgiven her and moved on before she died (it took a lot of therapy sessions to get there mind) And I was determined that my son would grow up knowing how much he was wanted and loved. I'm sorry to hear that some of you went through such awful times - but look at us now! Survivors. 'I am what I am' is my anthem Shout it out loud and proud.
I guess I should mention food. I'm home alone so I've made myself fish and chips in the oven - and very good they were too. My boulder holder (that made me laugh) came off the minute I got upstairs and I've spent the evening sat in my nightie. It's too hot for clothes. (I did all my outside jobs before I came in - don't want to give the neighbour's children nightmares!)
monna - you never cease to make me laugh xx
to you all

Good evening everyoneCongratulations on losses, Brambling, Molly 👏👏
Commiserations SIRENS, it’s probably only a temporary glitch
monnagran what a very lucky man your fence painter is! You’re feeding him royally, so hopefully he’s a Michaelangelo of painters and giving you some beautiful frescoes.
Roundtuit your description of getting stuck in your trousers made me laugh out loud! Keep on with the losses and you’ll soon get your revenge and make them work.
All I can say is, what brave, resilient, and lovely People you all are. (No emoji does you justice, but we need the Group Hug one back.)
It’s so sad when the people we depend on let us down. I think at least some of it is from their earlier experiences. Broken people break other people. My mum never thought her mum loved her (as a child she was the unwanted last and very late-born), although that changed as she got older. But she was good at the put-down, and the cutting remark. My looks were never good enough for her, and my fine straight hair was always a trial to her as she only rated curls, or at least waves. My wavy-haired sister was the pretty one, and got the pretty clothes. I got the perms (hot perms in the salon, and home perms, and comb-through lotions) and the scolding when the curls fell out at the first hint of rain. After I left home, I used to suffer from intermittent excruciating backache which lasted for days at a time, and was worse during my marriage. Since my mum died, I have not had that pain again. I worked out that it was related to times when I’d visited my parents or spent much time with them. More than that I haven’t analysed and don’t want to. We hardly rowed, but there was obviously a massive subconscious tension going on. It makes me so sad, because I loved them both, and I’m sure they loved me and wanted the best for me.

Blue, forest green love, forest green. But I have mooted a muriel on the stone wall of Gangsta Granny's house next door which faces my living room windows. A Hawaian sunset has been suggested, but fence painter seems strangely reluctant to tangle with GG.I believe that friends are quiet angels
