Afternoon All
Hello Monnagran, I am still trying to loose my Christmas weight gain, which was substantial
I have been fairly well behaved this week, well since the start of April, although Sunday is my rest day so I make a nice pud for afters and don't worry so much about what I eat, I try not to go crazy though.
Brambling, I also love to bake, but unfortunately love most baked goods, have seen several new receipts I fancy making over the Easter weekend, although I'm struggling to find plain flour at the moment, I try to make eclairs or profiteroles for my df if I'm 'trying' to behave as I don't like cream. Today we have apple crumble which is my most favourite.
Today
B toast and marmite
D sw beef curry, rice, spinach hm naan
crumble.
I am still using my exercise bike every day and doing the Joe Wick PE workout with the kids, Cranky, hope you knee feels better soon x'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose' - Dr Suess

Welcome zafiro
I had a break too! It happens! Glad you're having another crack at it.
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it

Thank you SIRENS. Baking wise I prefer making my own if I'm going to eat treats. I made cherry scones a while back, worked out how many to make the mixture into so they weren't too heavy on calories and then froze them once they were baked. I have to remember to defrost one if I want to eat it which also puts the brakes on any eating sprees.
Monna it's not so much that I like running although I don't dislike it now. I started the year before last because I fell down 5 stairs the year before that and because I'm delicate (har har) what started as a graze turned into a large haematoma. Although the inch deep open wound healed, it's left a bad scar and slightly dodgy circulation in that leg. The running was an attempt to improve the circulation once the open bit healed over and as long as I keep it up I have less pain and swelling. If it was left to personal preference I'd take sitting on my bum over exercise every time, but needs must.6 -
Ive (well when I say I - DH is hands, I issue orders) been making Easter themed cakes for DD as she has been working so hard and they are her Easter present. We sending them tomorrow. I managed to resist temptation now you've given me an idea Eclaires for next weekend might just have to make them now xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.6 -
Good evening everyone
Weighing in well, I’ve started with STS, and lucky to get away with it!roundtuit I think my Will Power has been self-isolating
tighteningthebelt your rules look very sensible. Some of mine are:
if it’s not open, don’t open it (applies to sweet stuff and alcohol particularly)
chocolate may only be eaten with a cup of coffee
no sweet stuff with teas of any sort (herbal or ordinary)
if I shouldn’t eat or drink it, it shouldn’t be in the house
if I think I’m hungry outside mealtimes, I drink a glass of water and see how hungry I think I am after twenty minutes
if I think I want to eat a snack, ask myself “how fat do you want to be?”
don’t make weight loss a punishment, don’t be hungry, eat enough of the right food in the right way
stick to the rules of my diet regime (Harcombe Diet).
Cranky I hope the rest will do your knee good, and you’ll be able to exercise again soonI like your approach to home baking.
Monnagran I’m with you on exercise, Junior Doggy (canine) makes sure I get a brisk walk everyday, and I make as much use as I can of the stairs, and reach, stretch and bend as much as possible. It’s good to have an achievable target, best wishes in your endeavour.
zafiro I won’t be bored with your posts, I post my food diary etc, and find it interesting to compare what I eat and how much I lose with the experience of others.
SIRENS Christmas weight is so easy to gain, like you I can pile it on without really trying, and like the unwanted gift it’s difficult to get rid of.
I’ve groomed and trimmed both the Canine Doggies, caught up with some social contacts online/phone and written out a plan for a project I want to undertake while I’m at home.
Food today:
B : porridge
D : roast beef, dry-roast parsnips and carrots, steamed spring greens; yogurt with blueberries
T : apple, tangerine, skyr
S : 1 glass Sherry; 2 squares chocolate
Oops, it’s a bit of a long post - sorry folks!“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Blue_Doggy - I'm not sure what happened to my willpower this afternoon
Ok - that was not the best of ideas - 10" pizza and chips, followed by half a packet of biscuits and a bottle (330ml) of cider. What was that all about? And breathe.... Talk about shooting yourself in the foot
Done now. And I'm confessing now, so that I can start again tomorrow with a clean sheet.
For goodness sake - I am my own worst enemy. I literally inhaled food
Tomorrow is another day.

welcome back Zafiro 👋
Tighteningthebelt I have added your -1 to the chartwell done 👏
I'm not sure if I have any strategies to losing weight 🤔 i live alone so I think I have to blame the cat for bringing the naughty food into the house 🙀. I do it with good intentions, you know the ones 'I'll buy them and just have one a day' and then get bored, mad, sad (take your pick of any emotion) and eat them all. I need the willpower in the shops because I won't go out just to buy snacks. I cook to relax and bake when I'm stressed, it takes my mind off things, when I was made redundant a few years ago I came home and made bread, whilst job hunting my nephews pleaded with me to stop baking as to stop getting really fat I baked and gifted 🧁🍰🥧🍪 every day.
I try to avoid eating in the evenings by doing things like knitting, sewing etc or going for a walk however currently it's working from home which causes the problems with picking at food during the day. Monna I may not have been doing the same as you for 8 decades but I was 9 when one of my older sisters put me on a diet, and I seem to have spent the rest of my life chasing the elusive size 10
I made the most of the sunny weather and pottered about in the garden, I also caught up with my neighbour over the wall with the required distance between us, I'm feeling hopeful of runner beans left on the wall this year again 🙂 as he put up his canes, after losing his wife he didn't last year. Some seeds have been planted and the cat was evicted from the mini greenhouse and my troughs covered in mesh to hopefully deter him from those 🐾🐾🙀. My back is reminding me it's been a while and I'm wishing I had a bath when I finished now
B -
L - LO venison salad, pack of crisp
D - roast chicken, parsnips, cauliflower and French beans
S - fibre one brownie
Cranky I hope the knee is feeling better

Thank you monnagran and Brambling xx
I'm not sure where my head was yesterday. I couldn't settle to read, ate enough to satisfy a hippo, and I've got up this morning and realised that I didn't take my meds last night. Anyone would think I was stressed about something!!!

Hiya,
brambling I cook when I'm stressed too, my freezer is full of hm ready meals. I had a stress time recently, bought a kilo of mince and made 23 straight away!!!
Thanks for the chart and running the thread again.
Cranky my nephew has a chewy thing on a lanyard for when he needs it. I can see how eating would be a self soothe.
Bluedoggy "if it's not open dont open it"!Like it
Somebody posted a tip on one of the old threads that has really helped; to brush your teeth after tea so you are deterred from evening eating. It might have been Molly41. That helps me a lot. One of the meds I'm on causes weight gain. I was obsessing once and reading up the clinical trial data (I'm a bit like that) and it showed the lab mice ate lots more "on the night cycle". See, if only they had known to brush their teeth after tea!! (And stick a note saying "night cycle" on the fridge door)
It's so interesting reading what others do, thanks for posting.
The boring bit...
B L apple
D corned beef hash (dads one and only recipe, bless) with plenty beetroot. Pineapple.
S one slice seeded bread with marmite
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks7
